"What a strange town. What now then, Goliath? Shall we head directly to the mansion and seize it by force?"
Nov 14, 2016 9:03 pm
Skeinkaldr tucks the necklace into his belongings. "Find that back door the boy mentioned," he says. "It's in the woods, so we look for a bunch of trees, yeah?"
Nov 14, 2016 9:38 pm
The three mercenaries can easily see the mansion from the town's centre, and just as easily see the dense pine tree forest to its south. The mansion say ontop of a layered hill with only one established road to its front steps. On the that single road leading to the mansion was a rundown tavern with a few scarlet cloaked men smoking and shooting the shit outside. The Goliath had no doubts they wore identical cloaks as the boys that were decaptiated earlier, though theirs aren't covered in blood.

The group can see that remains of a once sturdy wall bordered the town, separating the mansion from the common houses and farms. It was not a difficult obstacle to climb, though they can detour through a farm backyarding the forest.

Skeinkaldr gives the other cloaked men a cursory glance, but knows that the dwarf's prized possessions would have been taken into the mansion. He looks to detour through the farm.

OOC:
Xhava's bronze dagger after attunement.

Forni's Conductive Blade
Weapon (Dagger), Rare (Requires Attunement)
Damage: 1d4 piercing, Finesse, Light, Thrown (20/60)

The bearer of this dagger instantly feels the conductivity flow through their blood. This is due to the magic imbued in its bronze when Forni, a small forest gnome, was struck by lightning while wielding this weapon. His curious spirit has now since moved on, but the magic in the bronze blade still remains.

Conductive Property: Bearer becomes conductive and takes 1d4 damage when using, being hit or adjacent to lighting magic. Effects doesn't apply if immune.

Conductive Mark: 3 times per day, when landing a hit, you mark your target with the blade's conductive magic. The target is vulnerable to lightning magic and takes an extra damage die of any lightning magic attacks against them. Mark lasts for 8 hours.

The group head towards the farm, taking the quiet detour. The house seems vacant, or purposely seemingly so. All the wood shutters are closed and the fence leading out the back towards the forest was open. The field in the back was patchy with corn, the crop this season was fairing well.
OOC:
Think that's our first magic item, should be fun :)
Nov 15, 2016 4:06 pm
Skeinkaldr strides through the corn for the back gate and the forest. "If you was a door, where would you be?"
Nov 15, 2016 6:46 pm
"All right," says the goliath. He begins a search through the woods, near the mansion.

Navigating through the woods is simple. The trees are tall with long trunks, allowing a clear line of sight towards the mansion's hill. Their bushy pine needle tops provide good coverage for even a Goliath. Perhaps someone will see him and mistaken his figure for a yeti. A small path only wide enough for a wagon trails along the hills side towards the far, back side. The group moves along the tree line until a large wooden gate stands tall within the hill's walls. The gate seems recently retrofitted of a natural cave mouth, and extremely well made.

OOC:
Just realized I forgot to give you experience for that encounter with the boys!? Y'all should have hit level 2 from that.
Nov 16, 2016 4:17 pm
Skeinkaldr tests the gate to see if it is unlocked. "Hey, I think I found it," he declares, pleased to have discovered the 'hidden' entrance.
Nov 16, 2016 4:45 pm
"So you have. Well done." Malethor says as he strides forward. His longsword makes a rasping sound as it is drawn. "What manner of opposition do we expect to find within? More snivelling boys?"
Nov 16, 2016 4:49 pm
The goliath shrugs. "Eh, probably not. You heard him; they's only stayed outside while the others went in. Sounds like the vet-rans get to sleep on beds with this bunch."
Nov 16, 2016 4:51 pm
"Boys, men, does it make a difference? They all bleed and die the same. Although I do enjoy seeing some fight in them." I take my new dagger and touch the edge of it gently against my cheek like a caress.
Nov 16, 2016 8:40 pm
The gate is locked, it thuds against a wooden crossbeam on the other side. Using Skeinkaldr as a gauge, Malethor and Xhava can see the two wooden doors of the gate stand twice the Goliath's height. It would need a compact door ram to get back here and knock this retrofitted hillside open. At the dragonborn's eye level, she notices a small entrance door fitted within the left side of the larger gate. It was obviously made for an average sized human. On the embedded door is a metal eye slit. It screeches a sharp metal against metal sound as it opens, revealing a pair of dark brown eyes.

The eyes, or the person behind them, speak. "Oi, what ya doin' back 'ere!?" You can see the eyes shift widely, confused what three intimidating travellers are doing at their back door.
Nov 16, 2016 9:11 pm
I stare down the man behind the door and smile. "We're just here for a conversation." My head cocks to the side for a moment as my words sink into his thick skull. "Approach."
OOC:
Casting Command- WIS saving throw
Nov 16, 2016 9:58 pm
The dragonborn sees the man's eye go into a dopey gaze. The metal eye slit shuts with any equally piercing sound. A moment passes with only silence behind the door. The quietness of the gate was ended by the sound of keys clinking together and then a satisfying unlocking sound. A scarlet cloaked man, not boy, stood in the doorway facing Xhava calmly. He wore no helmet, but had terrible helmet hair busy above his bushy eyebrows. His weapon was sheathed and door keys still in hand. "We can have a conversation now." he said plainly and nothing like his previous tone.
OOC:
Redbrand approached both physically and in conservation.

I step forward, flinging some of the blood and gore off my armor casually, like one might flick a wayward fly off a plate. "We're here for the mining equipment that was stolen just a few days past. Hand it over and we'll be on our way." I get right into the guard's personal space and grin my usual grin, with promises of violence should he decide to dismiss my words.
