The Redbrand door man looked blankly at the dragonborn, his fear magically reserved. He looked into Xhava's eyes with honestly processing the situation. Still in a daze, he speaks. "Okay." The scarlet cloak thug turns his back to the mercenaries and walks through the small reinforced door into the hill side. The door remained open as he faded into it's darkness.
Nov 18, 2016 11:47 pm
Skeinkaldr tries to keep the door from closing.
OOC:
Does it open outward to us, or inward to the mansion?Nov 19, 2016 7:28 am
The Goliath steps forward and props the door open with his giant hand. Standing in front of the door, Skeinkaldr realizes fitting through the human sized door wouldn't be a cute squeeze for him.
OOC:
Skeinkaldr is actually too large to fit through normally, if he chooses. The door opens inwards. Roll an athletics check of 10DC to succeed or 15DC athletics, but to break the doorframe and get in. Nov 19, 2016 7:55 am
The goliath just opts to keep the door open, remaining to the side and allow the portal to be clear.

Zephyr: The Divergent GenasiThe skilled rogue left Waterdeep immediately to begin her secret mission. While traveling north for a few days, she uncovered some useful information to advance. Zephyr intercepted a shipment destined for the Redbrands’ hideout. She easily used it as a Trojan horse to infiltrate their headquarters, moving one step closer to her mission’s goal.
Her patience was tested having to lay in a splintery wagon with a pickaxe poking her side, luckily only for a few hours. The surrounding room went quiet and only the sound of a snoring man could be heard. Popping her head up from the wagon filled with mining equipment, the blue skinned rogue determined it was safe to explore. She got out of the wagon, efficiently scanning the room for a disguise. An extra scarlet cloak was hanging on the chair the sleeping guard sat upon. Zephyr snagged it without a hitch and silently dressed into her new red disguise. The Redbrand guard continued to snore in his chair peacefully. With the conditions of being a woman and Air Genasi, it would take a skilled adventurer to maintain covertness amongst the more privileged Redbrands. Luckily for Zephyr, she had been trained well by the faction she served. To cut loose ties, the rogue ended the sleeping guard’s life and disposed of the body in a shipment crate. Just after she hid the body, a loud bang at the back wall’s gate startled her.
CancerMan says:
Skeinkaldr tests the gate to see if it is unlocked. "Hey, I think I found it," he declares, pleased to have discovered the 'hidden' entrance.OOC:
Ryunir Codáver: The Dreaded RangerThe gifted ranger checked the doe for breathing, then pulled his accurately placed arrow out of the dead animal’s heart. The catch would turn into a fine meal and a few pretty coins. This small forest was quite some ways from his home town of Everlund, where the Codáver’s Farm once stood on its outskirts. That farm had been purposely burned to the ground long ago, its ashes joined those of his buried parents.
There were countless nights of doleful drinking for Ryunir, many of which in a hunters’ tavern called ‘Stag at Bay’. Those nights ended with him sloppily passed out on the streets of Everlund. It took a young priestess to discover his lost soul and liberate him from his drunkard ways. Sadly, the priestess’ guidance wasn’t enough to cure the wounds of his past. Ryunir’s travels has brought him far from those darker days, now roaming and taking the odd job to stay afloat.
The ranger quickly looked up at the sound of commotion in the distance. Three adventurers intrigued his keen eye. The three stood at the gate on the hill, he recognized it as an entrance to the Redbrand’s hideout. The manor was formerly owned by the Tresendar Family, before the orc raids to the prospering city. Barthen, a provision clerk and friend of Ryunir, shared that Aldith Tresendar’s legendary sword was hidden in the crypt below. As an avid archer, he could care less for a sword, though the piece of noble history interested him.
Ryunir watched as an intimidating, tattooed Goliath held open the small wooden door. The ghostly knight walked through the gate’s door into the darkness while their dragonborn companion smiled with a menacing grin as he faded to black. The ranger saw this as a rare, though dangerous opportunity.
OOC:
Entering the hideout…Malethor entered the room beyond the door, the dim lighting contrasted the bright overcast outside. His eyes needed no time to adjust before he noticed the magically dazed guard standing perfectly straight beside the wagon. The room was clearly a receiving dock for shipments and the wagon ahead was still loaded with mining equipment. The gate was barred with a large wooden stop, though he probably was strong enough to remove it alone. There was an empty chair beside the door, but he wouldn't need to use it as a stepping stool to reach.
OOC:
Zephyr will be hidden behind one of the barrels, Malethor just at the northern entrance and the guard standing to the east side of the wagon.

Ryunir softly sighs, placing his hand on the doe's head, and with a soft whisper "It looks like I may have taken your life in vain but I may not get another chance at this and I hope you can forgive me." with his other hand he takes his dagger, slits the doe's throat to make sure it isn't alive and in hopes another predator smells the blood so the body won't go to complete waste. He cleans his dagger off with the hide, tucks it back in its sheath, and stands up. With arms outstretched, he approaches the group, his face shrouded by his cloak.

Damn it all, not right now! Zephyr thinks to herself as she crouches down behind the wooden barrels and crates in the southern portion of the room. Instinctively, she holds her breath, willing herself silent as she slides a hand back to the small of her back, slipping around the wire-wrapped handle of her dagger. If these damnable interlopers are banging in here, attracting attention, it's going to be nigh on impossible for me to do what I set out to do.
Nov 23, 2016 2:58 pm
Moving quickly but deliberately, Malethor unbars the gate to give the goliath access. He then goes to inspect the wagon.

Inside the hide out...Nov 23, 2016 6:07 pm
"Ambushed," growls Skeinkaldr, drawing his warhammer. His eyes fix on the nearest target, which happens to be the approaching ranger. Before the rage boils within, the goliath briefly assesses the non-hostile stance to determine if it is a ruse, or an excuse to start smashing.

As Ryunir approached with the pine tree backdrop, Skeinkaldr is unable to determine the ranger's intentions. His initial instincts would still hold strong, the approach could be a distraction for all he knows. The commotion from inside could be heard by Skein and Xhava, making them more alert to the situation.
OOC:
Yes, sorry. They heard the yell from inside. They know something is going on.Nov 23, 2016 6:55 pm
The Redbrand turns quickly and prepares his attack against Malethor.
OOC:
Going to wait on everyone's initiative roll, as Zehpyr is actually in position to attack depending on her initiative and want to lol.Rolls

Obviously the ruffian is going before the Malethor. If he's attacking, trigger the revenant's Pity the Dead feature.Quote:
You force one opponent to share in the pain you feel in undeath. As a reaction when a creature makes an attack roll against you, you can force the creature to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier = 13) or suffer disadvantage on the roll. After using this trait, you must complete a long rest before you use it againLast edited November 23, 2016 7:19 pm

The bronze-scaled cleric continues forward through the door, her attention being drawn to the attacking Redbrand ruffian on her undead companion. She had the quickness to make her action before the thug could get off a strike, unless she wanted to see if the Revenant can bleed.
Initiative order:
1- Xhava
2- Redbrand
3- Skein
4- Malethor
OOC:
Okay, Zehpyr is still hidden behind crates. Skein can act, but cant attack Ryunir before he rolls initiative (lol). Im assuming Xhava moved into the basement. She can make her action before the redbrand attacks, otherwise I will roll the wisdom saving throw for him.Initiative order:
1- Xhava

3- Skein
4- Malethor
