Slowly backing away from the glowing stone while reaching for her amulet, Béke says a quick prayer to Eldath asking for guidance. "Any ideas? Looks to be more than just a normal stone..."
Aug 6, 2016 2:15 am
Ramiel looks around the caverns for a bit, examining the consistency of the walls.
OOC:
Is it all solid rock? Are there bits of loose dirt, sand, mud, etc?
Aug 6, 2016 2:18 am
The walls are jagged and uneven and while they have many hand and footholds they are slick with moisture.

Izen examines the stonework.

Nothing odd about the stonework, just looks sloppily carved out.

Ramiel looks around for anything else to fit under the massive pressure plate to keep it from moving, or if there is a "kill switch" somewhere in the room.

The pressure plate is pretty much molded to the ground and anything thin enough to fit under it wouldnt be strong enough to do anything. Ramiel does however spot a button on the mechanism the ax is hanging from. This button is about 10 feet up.

I can hoist someone up on my shoulders to reach that if need be
Aug 7, 2016 3:11 am
"Or maybe we can shoot at the button." Ramiel said as he pulled out his light crossbow. Taking aim at the small target, the half elf fires off a bolt.

Ramiel watches as the arrow flies through the air, hitting the button producing a barely audible tick sound.
Aug 7, 2016 3:22 am
"Well, that should do it, right?" The half-elf said with a grin.

Carefully getting on his knees, Ramiel ever so gently presses on the pressure plate to see if it depresses at all, and will retreat as quickly as he can if the axe has any signs of swinging.
Aug 7, 2016 3:24 am
Ramiel slowly presses the stone, and hears the sound of stone grinding as it depresses, nothing happens.
Aug 7, 2016 4:49 am
"Well done, Ramiel!" Béke offers, tentatively taking a few slow steps onto the stone and entering the cavern.
Aug 7, 2016 4:55 am
The plate shifts and grind as Béke walks across it, seeing her make it safely across the rest of you follow suit. You enter the room and see large musty wooden barrels, lining the walls. Piled atop the barrels or propped beside them are smaller casks of wine and ale. Near the back a small leather book sits on one of the barrels, alongside a small glass vial containing a strange liquid.

"An old cellar for the tavern's wine? Why wouldn't Tolfdir know about this place? Ramiel asked as he scanned the surroundings for danger. Curiously, he takes a quick glance at the leather book, hoping to find some answers.

Ramiel picks up the book, skimming through it slightly, he is only able to find chicken scratch and insane ramblings.
Aug 7, 2016 5:06 am
"This handwriting is atrocious. Someone else have a try." Ramiel rolled his eyes and offered the book for everyone else to have a look.
Aug 7, 2016 5:38 am
Taking the book from Ramiel, Béke holds it out in front of her, slowly flipping through the pages.

Béke takes the book and rather quickly finds all the useful excerpts.
"I have finally perfected my potion of rat domination. Unfortunately, the ingredients must be harvested from the fungus chamber, and it's impossible to identify the deadly violet fungus hiding there. Many of my minions have perished collecting what I need."
"My genius knows no bounds! My latest creation, the mighty rat-bear-pig, is a complete success. It's keen snout can safely sniff out the violet fungus so I can avoid them and collect my ingredients unharmed."
"Potion of rat control ingredients: yellow puffball and weeping wig, both found in the fungus chamber. The ingredients are then distilled and mixed in my lab to create the potion. Don't forget! Always forgetting! Damn the Old Voice's buzzing!"

As Béke looks up from the book, she notices a crease in the northern wall.
Aug 7, 2016 5:57 am
Sharing what's she has learned with the others she starts to put the book into her pack before opening it back up and frantically flipping through the pages. She finds the section she's looking for and traces the words 'rat-bear-pig' with her fingers as she says them aloud before snapping the book closed. She looks up to the others, "What's a 'rat-bear-pig?'"
