"I don't know about a rat-bear-pig, but I almost had my skull crushed by a spider-rat just minutes ago, and that sure felt real to me. Given the circumstances, I would be inclined to believe that other. . . similar creatures exist." Ramiel said with a shrug. "How are you able to read that anyway?"

Sa we're sayin' tha a crazed man down here has bin experimentin' on rats.

"Aye, seems to be the case. What is this world coming too?"

Placing the book into her pack Béke shrugs her shoulders at Ramiel's query. "Not quite sure, honestly. I can't place the script but some of the passages just kind of came to me as if I'd seen them somewhere before."

As she takes a quick scan of the room her eyes fixate on the northern wall of the cavern. "There appears to be more to that wall than one would first suspect" she says, her arms extended, pointing out the crevice that runs along the wall.
Aug 8, 2016 6:26 am
"Well. . . there's no sense in just standing here. Let's take a look at the wall, shall we?" Ramiel says as he started fiddling with the crevice on the wall, pushing and pulling at it, haphazardly hoping that there was something hidden. In truth, he wants to rest badly, and his head was throbbing like the worst hang-over, but he cannot deny his own curiosity.

What kind of genius could blend a rat and a spider in such an interesting way?

Ramiel grips the crevices, when pulled it starts to open. Continuing on opening it reveals a secret chamber. This small square room is layered thick with dust and cobwebs. Random bits of old clothing are strewn about the floor haphazardly. Staring out to you with bulbous eyes is a strange fish-like humanoid statue garbed in priestly robes. At its webbed stone feet lays a pile of coins.

Ramiel studies the statue's craftsmanship and positioning to determine whether or not magic was involved in its making.

Béke, entering the room behind Ramiel, takes a quick look at the statues and shudders slightly. "Ugly thing!" she mutters as she looks over the contents of the room.

It doesn't emit magic, it does however secrete a thin layer of dark mucus.

Béke, looking over the room, finds that the clothes are ancient, mundane, moldy, and covered in dust. In one of the pockets though she finds a medallion that oddly shimmers in the dark. The treasure at the statues feet contains 400 cp, 160 sp, 8 gp, and a citrine.

"I don't see how this slimy thing connects with our rat issue." Ramiel said with a shrug. "Unless it made our crazy fellow. . . well crazy. Shall we go on?"
Aug 9, 2016 2:46 pm
"We shall, we shall" at least as long as there's torchlight to see by Gala thinks to himself

"Right, let's not forget about this. . ." Ramiel was on the way out of the cellar when he remembered the flask of strange liquid on the shelf that was once next to the leather-bound book that he could not comprehend. Carefully, he took the flask off the shelf and peered into its contents. "I wonder if this is the "Potion of Rat Control" described in the book."

After collecting the coins from the foot of the statue Béke notices Ramiel on his way out of the cellar. "A good choice!" she says as she starts to follow. "There's more going on here than we were told. Hybrid creatures and coins being left as an offering to some statue."

"I think Mr. Duflame owes us a few answers as to what is going on down here."
OOC:
I'll keep a list of 'party items' in the OOC thread, coinage and such for the party to split/share.

"Wait. . ." Ramiel said suddenly as he looked around with a grin. "You think any of these casks are still good to drink? We could even sell it back to Tolfdir, since I bet he doesn't know about this place."
Aug 10, 2016 3:31 am
You guys make your way back out of the cavern, out of the basement and head inside the tavern. There is a bit more people there but not anywhere near full capacity. As you make your way towards Tofdir, his already bright face lights up even more. "Ah, I'm guessing you're back because you finished? Very good." he pulls his pouch out and starts counting out some coin. "So tell me about it, judging by your appearance, those three rats gave more of a fight than expected."
Aug 10, 2016 6:30 am
Well isn't too bad that no one took me up on my bet?

"We are here to rest, Tolfdir, but I have feeling that your cellar is quite a bit larger than you think it is." Ramiel said as he took a seat at the bar. "I will be needing a Fiery Grog for this. My head hurts like its been in a vice."

With that, the half elf slaps down a silver coin over the counter at the gnome.
Aug 10, 2016 6:53 am
Upon hearing Ramiels words, Tofdir gives a look of bewilderment and lets out a dumbfounded "huh?" and leaves to the back, scratching the back of his head. He comes back a couple seconds with 4 mugs of Fiery Grog, he sets them down and sets them on fire. He picks up the coin and places it in his pouch "Consider it a thank you for clearing out the cellar. Now what were you sayin' about being a bit larger?"
OOC:
If you choose to chug the grog, make a constitution check. If you're just drinking it casually, you're fine.

With charcoal and something to sketch on I'll try to draw out a map of what we found down in the cellar
Aug 10, 2016 2:43 pm
Thar's more than just rats in ya cellar. We found a chamber with notes about experiments an' a rat-spider beastie. May be someone down there.
Aug 10, 2016 6:42 pm
Ramiel sips his grog slowly, hoping that the alcohol would dull his senses. The realization of how close he was to death just moments ago finally set in, and the image of the woman in the water. . .

Never mind, I am going to chug this thing after all.

With that, he tilted his head back and poured the fiery concoction down his throat.
