"I do have another question to ask, Nibbles. What happens if we triggered the alarm spell? What is it for? And would the Rat King himself emerge from such a disturbance?" Ramiel asks.
Aug 25, 2016 5:39 pm
"An alarm will go off, obviously. The rat-king tasked me to set it there whenever it wore out to alert us of anything coming from the tunnel. Unless he is nearby enough to hear it, it shouldn't. However, it will alert the other nearby rats."
Aug 25, 2016 5:47 pm
"How long does it take to wear out?" asks Silene. "And, like, when did you cast it?"
Aug 25, 2016 5:54 pm
"It last about 8 or so hours but it should be dispelling quite shortly. You can always crawl under it just to be safe, it is set to detect anyone over four feet."
Aug 25, 2016 6:38 pm
"What is taller than four feet and would come from the northern tunnel?" Ramiel asks again, wishing to confirm his suspicions.
Aug 25, 2016 6:41 pm
Nibbles shrugs "Ive never been down that way. Rat-king always said stay out, that it is dangerous, and if I enter I will die, so I never bothered."

"It appears we have two possibilities at the moment" Béke interjects. "I think I would like to investigate the possibility of finding a lotus near the waterfall as Silene suggests. If our search proves to be fruitless then we can duck under the alarm spell and continue on in that direction."

Once she's done speaking Béke will look at each of the others trying to gauge their reactions to her suggestion.

Gala will nod at Békes suggestion, "Seems like a solid plan"

You guys start making your way to the crossroads, going slowly past the torture room, doing your best to subdue your light sources. You hear a couple hisses and chain rattles but make your way past with no issues. You arrive at the cross roads shortly after, looking at the two paths you haven't been down yet. The trapped pathway to the north, and the stream going south.
Aug 26, 2016 5:29 pm
Silene steps to the edge of the stream and listens for the direction of the waterfall.

You listen to the waterfall for a moment, the noise you hear is coming from down the southern tunnel, in the direction of the stream.
Listening more closely, you can hear it isn't a very loud water fall, leading you to believe that it is either, the current of the stream isn't enough to make it anything spectacular, the fall off is extremely deep or it's a good distance away.
Aug 26, 2016 6:38 pm
"Right," mutters Silene. "Okay, like, we got a problem. Water's flowing south and that's where the fall is, meaning the pool's down below. So's even if we skip along the stream bed, we probably gotta dive in to get in."
Aug 26, 2016 9:11 pm
"Dive!?" Béke blurts. "Maybe we can find a much safer way to get down once we get to the point" she says, mostly trying to reassure herself that she's not going to have to dive into what may be a shallow pool of water.

"I think it would be wise to anchor ourselves periodically with rope in that case." Ramiel suggested as he took his coil of rope from his pack.

You guys carefully enter the water, after the initial shock you eventually get used to the chilled water. The water depth varies from 1/2 to 2 ft, you find as long as you walk normally, the current is easy enough to deal with. You make your ways down and the stream starts flowing faster and the depths get deeper, averaging from 2 to 3 1/2 ft. The cavern floor beneath is overgrown with mossy sludge, you have to slow down to avoid falling. Off to the side a smaller, dry tunnel branches off from the main flooded tunnel. The skeletal remains of a humanoid can be spotted near the entrance.

Silene wades through the stream as best she can, keeping her balance with her flame-wrapped hand held above, or outward as need be. She glances over to the drier tunnel as it comes into view.
