"Why not distract them as I've done, and when they come down, you kill them?" suggests Silene as an alternative.
Sep 14, 2016 11:20 pm
"As far as I know we are unsure of their numbers or how much of a fight they may be if attacked" Béke counters. "If someone were able to create a distraction I would be more than willing to attempt to sneak by the creatures."
Sep 15, 2016 12:25 am
"It's over a hundred feet away," says Silene. "Even if you kept quiet the entire way through while we distracted them with some noise, you'll be out all by yourself with no room for error. Not to mention, for all we know that thing has another trap or two protecting it.

"Like, I'm not saying you can't do it... it just seems suicidal. I mean, they're obviously not attacking us even as we stand here, so it seems like they're more of an ambush-type of predator. Whatever distraction we make here doesn't mean another one further down ain't gonna drop down when you breathe."
Sep 15, 2016 12:35 am
"Perhaps you are correct" Béke concedes. "My fear in attacking them, even in small numbers while distracted, is that the noise of combat would draw the others to us and we would be quickly out numbered."

Staring out across the chamber at the glow from the hammer Béke silently considers the options. "Shall we try your distraction and kill method? We could move into the chamber just far enough to attack those closest and see what type of success we have."
Sep 15, 2016 12:42 am
Silene shrugs. "I dunno. I mean, you might be right and that when we attack one, they all swarm. We can try in the beginning and see what hurting one does to the rest."

The druid will repeat her lure of the darkmantles and allow her companions to eliminate any that drop down. Her audible Bunny Foo-Foo hops in a zig-zag pattern to represent panicked prey.

Every so often, instead of three, only one swoops down at a time to investigate the sound, swooping back up when nothing comes out of it.
Sep 15, 2016 12:54 am
After watching for any type of pattern to the darkmantles' behavior Béke draw her sword as quietly as she can and slowly moves forward. Using her blade to point out a location for the Foo-Foo to run past she waits for a chance to strike.

Béke slowly makes her way into the chamber, being watchful of her surroundings to not make any noise. She waits by the bunny, when one swoops down to investigate she thrust her blade forward, sliding it into the creature. It lets out a loud guttural scream before flying up to the ceiling.

Silene remains wary, trying to keep a watchful eye for any other ambush.

You don't see anything, even the three you saw have stopped attacking the rabbit noise.

Izen puts his mind to work conjuring a Dwarven solution to this problem. "Why don' we go get firewood and smoke tha whole cavern out? Or we could get somothat Dwarven powda an' blast tha swoopin' bastards offa tha ceilin'."
Sep 15, 2016 9:46 pm
"Aye, and the place would be lit up proper if even only momentarily. Ha ha."
Sep 16, 2016 4:58 am
"I suppose that is an option. Although we will have to return to the storage room for the wood." Ramiel pointed out.

"I can stay here. I don't think tha hammer is goin' anywhere."

"If we are going back that way, we might as well tell the girl. . ." Ramiel eyed the skeleton on the ground. Leaning over again, he looked over the bones for something identifiable, such as a signet ring or trinket of sorts to bring back to Sylana.

Looking over the body, you find a small pouch containing 25 sp and 6 gp, along with a spellbook that clearly suffered heavy water damage. Most of the pages are stuck together or the ink is smeared or washed away completely.

Looking at the lantern, it is in oddly pristine condition. The lantern's iron casing is flecked with a shimmering silver that mirrors a star-filled night sky.
OOC:
Make an investigation check for the spellbook, if you'd like.

"I am not exactly a wizard, but let's see. . ." Ramiel said as he flipped through the waterlogged spellbook.

Flipping through the book you find three pages intact. One page for darkvision, another for detect magic and the last for grease.

Silene looks over the lantern. It would be good to have light for her human eyes.

It looks like a beautifully crafted lantern, without spending time with it, you're unsure if it acts any different from a regular one.
