Reading the scroll comes natural to you, as you pick out the words flawlessly one after the other. The scroll's writing starts to glow brightly as Béke reads off it. Finishing, the glowing dulls as the words fade and the scroll crumbles to dust. The cave is eerily silent now, no humming from the hammer, no distant waterfall or river flow, you try to talk but you hear nothing.

Seeing the spell cast and the subsequent silence, Ramiel signals to Izen with his hands before slowly and carefully moving toward the hammer while keeping an extra close eye at the darkmantles.
Dec 15, 2016 1:46 am
Izen sees the signal, hears the silence, and rushes forward.
Dec 15, 2016 2:16 am
As he approaches the hammer, Ramiel keeps an eye out for traps, be it arcane or mundane.

Watching the scroll crumble in her hands Béke lets out a relieved sigh. It worked!

As Izen and Ramiel move forward she holds her position and readies her bow, just in case.
Dec 15, 2016 3:07 am
The darkmantles seem a bit disturbed but show no signs that they are aware of the party.
Izen rushes forward, his footfall silent. Ramiel you don't spot any traps of either kind. Béke you let out your sigh and hear nothing.
Dec 15, 2016 3:35 am
Ramiel puts out a gesturing hand towards the fancy hammer and mouths to Izen the words, "Take it."
Dec 15, 2016 2:57 pm
Izen runs to grab the hammer, holding his shield above his head to ward off would-be ambushers.
Dec 15, 2016 9:29 pm
You grip the handle, the glowing ceases and the warhammer briefly flickers with electricity that courses up your arm but does you no harm.
Dec 15, 2016 9:53 pm
Izen sprints back towards the party, trips on a rock, then gets up and pretends nothing happened as he closes the rest of the distance.
Dec 15, 2016 10:14 pm
Ramiel follows his dwarven companion in a hurry while uncomfortably eyeing the ceiling.
Dec 17, 2016 10:33 am
The darkmantles seem more interested in the fact that they lost their vision more than the now "invisible" party below them.
Dec 17, 2016 4:37 pm
Silene is ready to back away as soon as Ramiel and Izen return.
Dec 17, 2016 8:29 pm
The party makes their way back, uneventfully, your hearing returns. You note the hammer that Izen picked up has stopped its humming.
OOC:
Where is your next stop?
Dec 17, 2016 8:44 pm
OOC:
Back to the fork, where the tunnel meets the river. I believe our plan was to follow the stream south and see where it led.
Dec 17, 2016 9:02 pm
The group makes their way down the tunnel, bracing themselves as they enter the cold cavern waters, then continue their way further down the stream. You make your way to the end and find the drop off point, the river's flow is gentle enough that you have a steady enough footing to peer over the edge. A crumbling altar of blackened stone looms over the precipice of the falls.
Dec 17, 2016 9:21 pm
Using the lantern, Silene checks to see if anything resides amid the waterfall. She avoids the altar for the time being.

A few common bats scatter at the lantern's light but, aside from them, you see nothing else among the seemingly bottomless pitted waterfall.
Dec 17, 2016 9:40 pm
Turning her attention to the altar, Silene tries to determine what purpose it might serve... besides a diving board.

The altar is old and has long since crumbled, the base is carved to resemble a pile of bones and the flat top is stained red with old blood. You can't find any other purpose other than it being a forgotten place of worship.
