Character Creation

Going to repost my character stuff a third time here!
Quote:
1. Please review The Player's Guide.
2. You are not trained professionals. Not cops, not army, not firefighters.
3. You know each other. Whether you're high school alums, private eyes (yes, an exception to the above), amatuer ghost hunters. That'll be up to the group.
4. Make connections. Make them messy. The house will be very interested.

The sheets, as mentioned in the player's guide are very simple. That said, the more info you generate, the more interesting things will be. I'm going to ask you to have some format of this in the game sheets where I can see it, but if you'd like a fancy one, Monty has kindly provided.
[ +- ] Notes on the sheet sections
As a reminder, I'm looking for the party to know each other. To be cohesive. To know some secrets about each other, though not necessarily everything.

General setting you'll have come from is where suburbia starts to meet rural. Don't worry too much about there where, but the who. Your characters know the folks in town by face, if not always by name.

I'm so stoked by this!! Many thanks for having me on board :)

I'll start thinking about character concepts and will post back soon so that we can all start to think of a cohesive party together.

Is anyone familiar with a TV show called Dead Last?

A basic idea for our group. 18-30 year olds who have formed a band and who are amateur ghost hunters.

Plot
The premise of the series was that the three members of the fictional band named The Problem find, and are unable to rid themselves of, a magical amulet that allows them to see and communicate with ghosts. Each episode featured the trio reluctantly completing the unfinished business of the ghosts that they encounter in order to allow the ghosts move on to the next world. Much of the humor of the series came from The Problem wanting to develop their career instead of helping ghosts, and that the trio almost invariably are viewed as, at best, mentally unbalanced by those who cannot see or hear ghosts.

Sounds very interesting. Just gave a first quick scan of the rules. Will need to read them again and better later.

I do like to consider indeed how our character know each other.

Being in a band or so together would work (although I know not much about music).

Just some random brainstorm thoughts:
1) Band
2) Sports team
3) Co-Workers
4) They play D&D together
5) Family
6) They are in some "I survived something horrible" support group together

lol, hilarious! I'm down for a band and ghost-hunters! You don't need to know a thing about music to be in a band, I promise.

D&D group is also a fun choice for me, but we could just add that into the Band/Ghost-hunter idea, really.

I have updated the Interest thread to reflect that there are 2 slots left. I'm going to give it another day before locking this group in as we're at the 4-6 player range!

Alright yall. I've added everyone that gave interest. It's character time! I'm loving the ideas given so far, which way are folks leaning for a group, what kind of "tropes" are you considering for characters?

Hi guys.

Liking the suggestions already. The thought I had which could be combined with others is a group trying yo get a youtube/twitch/ streamer thing going, either for ghost hunting, a band or just random videos, which has led them to the house.

All right, I'm done with the player's guide.

I dig the "Dead Last" idea, although the "I survived something horrible" support group is also promising. In that latter case maybe we could have lost a common friend some time ago under mysterious circumstances? (and thus combine with the ghost hunter idea). If we go for the band, I'm happy playing either first or second guitar, or even a groupie that is in love / in a relationship with one of the band members, could be fun :D

The band idea seems to stick on with most people.
The trope would indeed depend on the form of group we'd play. I know if we'd be a band I'd play a character which much more cool than in the support group :)

If we'd do the band, I'd go for vocalist or electric violin to add in a less common instrument.

Bassist and background vocals for my character.

Reminder that those ideas aren't exclusive either. A punky band who lost someone awhile ago makes a ton of sense.

Unrelated, are folks okay with this being a public game?
Jul 2, 2022 12:14 am
public is fine with me

Zuri the Drummer!
Extra angsty, semi-depressed, ghost-obsessed "spiritualist"... was very close to the person we lost.
Open to further entanglement. Complicated relationships with other band members or their cute relatives.

Rather not be public, but I will bow to the majority.

Cadence Black - Bass/Background vocals

She always wears black, just like her little heart.

I'm alright public, but if some people want private then would lean that way.

Thinking the self-appointed social media manager of the group. Either a relative, close friend or maybe just crushing in a it member, whil she can't actually play or anything she likes to hang out with them, and handke the filming, tech etc side. Though likely refuses the term 'roadie'.

JamaisVu says:

One person not wanting it, especially with this type of a game, is enough for me.

I'm okay with going public, don't really care.

I'll go with Carl Kipps, lead guitar. He's the most recent addition to the band after the former lead disappeared under mysterious circumstances, but it's already becoming quite obvious that he does not have the charisma or confidence of his predecessor.

So, why the House? Why this House?

Are they scoping out a location for a new music video? Ghost-hunting in a reputed haunted locale? Is this the last place anyone saw or heard that our former lead guitarist was supposed to have been?
Jul 2, 2022 11:53 pm
yes yes and yes! Zuri wants to do a seance and likely has not said, that she definitely wants to summon their former bandmember.

Seems like we got most basic positions covered.

Now we need a cool name.
Uhm... bandnames...? Skip. That is really outside of things I know about.
