A Gathering Storm

"Agh!" Oria exclaims when she gets injured. Buoyed by Lothar's success she ignores the pain and raises her sword again as she prepares to impale one of the cloaked guards.

Grabbing the dropped bow from his recently tackled foe, Kvarek sits and fires at the other bowman.

Oria slices at the cloaked figure and misses, the sword just nicking his skin.

Kvarek grabs the bow and fires but the arrow goes well wide of the target.

Outnumbered, and sorely pressed, the cloaked figures hiss at each other and will withdraw with their wounded, heading for the gate and the forest beyond.

Did you allow them, or force them to fight to the death?

Lothar can make a Strength check at +5 (they're small and not very strong) to detain him.

With the cloaked figures running for the gate; Ansel surveys the rest of the area. He looks for the two figures, presumably guards that the cloaked figures were towering over originally.

Lothar reaches out to pin the attacker to the ground as the others skitter away.

Oria, who hadn't been doing too well with her fighting skills much to her acute embarrassment was apt to let them go.

"Let them run like the cowards they are," Oria says with a boldness she doesn't feel.

Kvarek picks himself up and straightens his gear out. Then takes a minute to check his wound.

The remaining cloaked figures leave their dead and vanish into the rain outside the gate.

The two figures that were on the ground stand up, and nurse cuts about their faces. "Thanks, neighbour," one says, and wipes his wet tabard meekly. "They jumped us from behind and held knives to our throats then went after that guy."

The goblin that was accosted looks furtively at you all. He pulls his hood down against the light rain and shrugs. "Time to goes. Long ways to walks."

Bartalom walks over the goblin and places a hand on its shoulder, "tarry awhile friend, surely you’ll want to offer thanks and explanations to your saviours, no?"

Oria who still feels uncomfortable isn't quite so friendly. She examines the furtive goblin from head to toe and asks pointedly, "Hold a moment! What do you have that they wanted? We saved your life. The least you can do is tell us that."

He looks around. "I am Modek, guide. Are you explorer's license folk from Revora? Show me license and Modek take you into forest. If no, then forget saw Modek and Modek wait for people." He seems anxious to be off, even though that means following the elves.

"Well met, Modek. Oh yes! We're an official party. You might say we are Revora's chosen ones. Revora's Rangers", Bartalom says laughing to himself as he whips out the license to show Modek

Bartalom looks around, shyly. "Yes, we are one team all licensed thus. You will be our guide?"

Such luck, Oria thinks as she looks with concern at Kvarek.

"Will you be okay with that nasty wound? I think we could both use a bit of healing or bandaging. Anyone here skilled in that art?"

The wizard hears Oria's question and turns to her at once. "Oh, please forgive me. Let me take a look"

Bartalom leaves Modek's side and makes his way swiftly to Oria. "Kvarek, I will be with you in one moment"

"You have my thanks." It pained her to say it, embarrassment still hung over her like a grey cloud, but this was their group and everyone had to have everyone else's back. Still, depending on others made her feel weak. She had to work a little harder as a woman to gain respect from the others. She didn't equip herself all that well in the battle that had just transpired. She resolved to do much better next time.
