Here is a question for you:
Would you like to try out the new background idea? DND one has a slightly different take of the character creation, where the stat increase comes from the backgrounds and where the background gives a 1st-level feet

If we all agree to try this out, you will lose your background feature, but get a 1st-level feet instead. If your rase is on the list, then you loose your current racial features, but gain the new ones instead.
We will also use the new inspiration rules.

This decision must be unanimous. If we don't all agree, then we won't make this conversion at all.

Should we try the playtest?

Let's try something new

Let's stick to what we know

I’m all for trying it out, but how would you like me to handle the deep gnome connection? Should we just flavor it as a deep gnome, and mechanically choose a rock gnome?

yes - That is exactly the reason why people might not be interested in trying this out. There is no new version of the minotaur forinstance.

Uhm?

No clue what this is. But I am all for testing things

@Cettish We got the peak into the version that comes after D&D 5e. They plan to stick with most of the 5e formula, but some of the changes we have seen, like background feats are going to stay.
They will also give out more inspiration as humans start with inspiration at the end of a long rest

Gotta catch up on the news then I guess :)

I have skimmed through the document you have linked to. It would be fun to try out.

I'm feeling lost, but I would still try! Definitely have reading to do on this. Haha.

don't feel pressured into something you are uncomfortable with. In the other spelljammer academy group, someone voted no to the new stuff and that was it. There is time enough to play around the play-test-rules.

I definitely don't feel pressured, and I don't want to pass on something that could be cool. Let me do my research and I will report back in less than 24 hours whether my final vote is yay or nay.

FYI: I have a lot of travel today and tomorrow. I'm not sure I can keep up with the posting rate in the next few days

Yeah, I'm in. I'm not sure it will change my character much, because as a variant human I already have a feat. Would I get a second one? Or move to human and reclaim my feat? I donno. We can work on that once DM is no longer traveling.

I have the same question really.

I am now human variant which is 2x a +1 and a feat.
New human is a level 1 feat.
Now my chosen feat is no longer valid as a level 1 feat, but I have seen a close replacement for it (and now I consider it, I wonder why I didn't pick it sooner), so that is OK.

Also, based on the background I guess that is +1 to a stat compared to var. human and an extra level 1 feat.
Not entirely sure if I like the stat distribution on the example noble though. I am not even sure where I put the spare +1 besides INT.

Alright, then! I'm going to try to rebuild using the UA rules. I'll submit a new character sheet shortly.

I just appended the changes to Frug's existing character sheet, since the number of changes were pretty small.

Can you take a look, @runekyndig?

Is the above assumption correct? If so, I can update my character

I am grateful for your patience. I am now back to normal scheduling again (hopefully)

I can see someone has voted to stick to what we know. So we stick to the normal rules. In retrospect, I think it would be best to play around with the playtest with brand new characters as there are some understandable confusions
