Looks like the other chat threads have disapeared, so creating this one. Game still active?

Ping?

Back from vacation just finished catching up.
Will post soon
If game is still active...?
Aug 12, 2022 11:27 pm
Yeah. If people are still in.
And yeah, I goofed and deleted a subgroup in this game instead of another. Sorry. Just start up any questions if you need them.

I have been a little busy and was hoping to see GeneralIT back in. Still getting over a cold too, however, I am trying to think what I need to help the pacing.I'm seeing some things I need to adjust. I'm wrapping up this character intro and exposition phase... sorry it was long, but I have been throwing down plots, so I hope by now everyone has some things they like about Averndale and things they want to change there.

This is a Sandbox setting with running narratives, that I'm not trying to beat you over the head with... and must admit I think I've not done a great job getting everyone hooked into wanting to be here yet, so please reach out about anything you want us to spend time on.

As long as there is an engaging narrative and everyone posts regularly I'm here for the long haul. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to what's next!

@DM I know no starting feates were allowed, but do you intend on integrating them when we level normally?
Oct 13, 2022 2:22 pm
I had no intention to use Feats because I had intended to focus on Us using PC ability mods, class features, and skills to handle all the framework of your powers and the rest just altering those descriptions to let you do the cool on-the-fly stuff.

I tell you honestly, so much of what I had intended to do with the game has changed since we started.

I'm open to discussion.

I personally find Feats to be part of 5E’s charm. It gives players the opportunity to create a character that’s uniquely theirs, and to more accurately reflect what they envision their character to be. Feats are a creative tool for players and DM’s alike and work well to give personality to their characters. Granted, feats can also wreck a game. A DM should be ready to veto a specific feat, or combo if they feel it would unbalance things. Players should also be ready to accept that Veto at any time if it becomes apparent that the feat or combo is causing a disruption.

5e prefers to make static characters that don't change a lot. 3.5e was more to creative changes in the characters. Sometime hard on players that have played 3.5e and now 5e as the feel the difference.

I don't need a feet to "give personalty" to my PC. Nevertheless if the personality I give my PC is supported by mechanical improvements granted by feat, it will give me another reason to double down on my PC personality,
for example should I choose Sadur to have "Tavern Brawler" feat it would give me a reason to use improvised weapons, thus adding color to the narrative. Otherwise I would feel ashamed using unarmed strikes or improvised weapons in critical fights.

On a different topic, anyone here feels like players must choose their PC behavior primary based on PC bounds/flaws (Personality) ignoring common sense?
Is there any change getting an inspiration for doing that as?
Quote:
Inspiration is a rule the game master can use to reward you for playing your character in a way that’s true to his or her personality traits, ideal, bond, and flaw.

I suppose the question is, does it enrich the game, detract from the game, or neither. Im obviously a fan, but im good with however we run this going forward. No pressure.
Oct 13, 2022 8:03 pm
Right, retreating from the cave would hardly enrich anything. Going the risky way
Oct 20, 2022 3:54 pm
Hey. I'm back.

And I agree that the dramatic, story-enhancing and risky things play into the Inspiration. Playing to Alignment and those personality traits is the way to recharge it... as a way, the system encourages you to behave consistently in-character, with helps DMs try to interact and keep plot relevance.

Okay. So Gene is dropping... When we bring Leon and Xarakas in to the Mission, Jasper just doesn't show up in the moring and there is no one you can find that has seen him. We'll play it as a mystery moving forward, but Sadur is waiting for you so you head out on time.
Oct 21, 2022 5:06 am
Lore question. Is it fair to assume goblins are no farmers and woyld not keep sheeps of their own. Would it be common knowledge or would Sadur need to roll some int check to deduce goblins most probably stole the sheep?

No posts in 2 weeks, Just checking if we are still playing?
