I personally find Feats to be part of 5E’s charm. It gives players the opportunity to create a character that’s uniquely theirs, and to more accurately reflect what they envision their character to be. Feats are a creative tool for players and DM’s alike and work well to give personality to their characters. Granted, feats can also wreck a game. A DM should be ready to veto a specific feat, or combo if they feel it would unbalance things. Players should also be ready to accept that Veto at any time if it becomes apparent that the feat or combo is causing a disruption.

5e prefers to make static characters that don't change a lot. 3.5e was more to creative changes in the characters. Sometime hard on players that have played 3.5e and now 5e as the feel the difference.

I don't need a feet to "give personalty" to my PC. Nevertheless if the personality I give my PC is supported by mechanical improvements granted by feat, it will give me another reason to double down on my PC personality,
for example should I choose Sadur to have "Tavern Brawler" feat it would give me a reason to use improvised weapons, thus adding color to the narrative. Otherwise I would feel ashamed using unarmed strikes or improvised weapons in critical fights.

On a different topic, anyone here feels like players must choose their PC behavior primary based on PC bounds/flaws (Personality) ignoring common sense?
Is there any change getting an inspiration for doing that as?
Quote:
Inspiration is a rule the game master can use to reward you for playing your character in a way that’s true to his or her personality traits, ideal, bond, and flaw.

I suppose the question is, does it enrich the game, detract from the game, or neither. Im obviously a fan, but im good with however we run this going forward. No pressure.

Right, retreating from the cave would hardly enrich anything. Going the risky way

Hey. I'm back.

And I agree that the dramatic, story-enhancing and risky things play into the Inspiration. Playing to Alignment and those personality traits is the way to recharge it... as a way, the system encourages you to behave consistently in-character, with helps DMs try to interact and keep plot relevance.

Okay. So Gene is dropping... When we bring Leon and Xarakas in to the Mission, Jasper just doesn't show up in the moring and there is no one you can find that has seen him. We'll play it as a mystery moving forward, but Sadur is waiting for you so you head out on time.

Lore question. Is it fair to assume goblins are no farmers and woyld not keep sheeps of their own. Would it be common knowledge or would Sadur need to roll some int check to deduce goblins most probably stole the sheep?
