Just a reminder, we will exclusively be using the variant human race found here, and will be making use of the Darksouls Rule Variant. Other then that go wild with anything from WotC published materials. If you need help finding information just ask.

Oh and so that I don't feel bound by the lore, let me remind you that though we are playing in the Darksouls world but in a region of my own devising, so the setting is generally the same, but names of places and people may not be there.

Hello! I am new to play by post format. It will be my 1 game on GP. I want to create character mechanically, and story wise simple. (I am not very good at describing my moves and talks). In game I look forward for good story, even linear one (Storyteller archetype of player).
Currently I am deciding which class (or character archetype) I want to play. Options are : warrior, paladin or cleric. Probably paladin.

Don't worry too much about backstory, the undead are cursed to forget:
"You will lose everything...
... once Branded.
The symbol of the curse.
An augur of darkness.
Your past. Your future. Your very light.
None will have meaning, and you won't even care."

I am taking some inspiration for the narrative style from the games themselves, trying my hand at a more "linear branching" story style to my more improvisational approach. Will be interested to see how it turns out...

Hello. Post format games aren't new for me, but this is my first game on English, so i previously apologise for my future speaking mistakes. Maybe this will be a character feature (deformed mouth/tongue, damaged speaking centers or she will be just a foreigner). I'm very interested in grimdark such as DS' atmosphere, so i hope that this story will be a good one. About classes: i think about barbarian, Light/War/Death (if this one is possible) cleric or druid.
And i have a question: can we use SCAG class features?

Yep, I'll allow pretty much anything put out by Wizards (I might even be convinced to allow stuff from Middle Finger of Vecna on a case by case basis).

There are a A variety of accents pressent in Darksouls, so I see no reason why we wouldn't share that in our game. Glad your a fan of the grimdark atmosphere because that's pretty much all I'm good at (well that and cosmic horror, and that really only on PbP).

What character generation rules do we use? Point buy? And for hp - max values? Equipment standard or we can buy something (for rolled/standard money)?

I prefer point buy but if you want to roll, do so in this thread.

For HP use the standardised progression (half hit die plus one, ie if your hit die is 1d8, just take 5+con mod per level with max at first level). Or if you really want to roll, do so in this thread.

For games starting at 3rd level, you just get starting equipment, I do allow for selling and buying though, as I acknowledge that the starting equipment isn't perfect. You will also get estus flasks but I still haven't decided whether you should start with them or get them in game.

So, i wrote kind of character concept. And yes, my character has a bond with Mihey's Yaro - Romuald saved him and brought into his spiritual journey.

Life. Death. Do that words have any meaning? Not there. Men of this land don't know any difference between zsitye and smjercy. They call that cycle of lives "curse". I call that state of soul "blessing". Gods of my folk gave us that blessing and we learned depths of their grace. But men of this land don't want to learn. Their eyes are blind, their ears are deaf. But now things will change. I, Romuald of Balcescu, driven by will of my gods so far from home, will change that people. They will learn how to respect forces of zsitye and smjercy. With help of those who learn or obey - like this warrior Yaro, my new follower - I will teach this land.

Hey all! Really looking forward to doing this with all of you. I haven't gotten around to playing dark souls yet but I'm a big fan of grimdark. I'm working on my character right now and should have it uploaded soon.

A woman. Wrapped in fine silks. Reaching out to me, calling my name. No matter how fast I run I can never catch her. I see the waves of darkness wash over her body as she is consumed by some unknown force. I see her death, my failure, every time I close my eyes. I was tasked with keeping her safe and locating an... artifact? No, it was a ring. Definitely a staff, unless.... oh who's to say, everything is so foggy now. I must get back to finding it, whatever "it" is. Perhaps I can locate some people to help me search. But first, one more drink, just to dull the pain, just one more.

Con1vn, is your character not undead? I highly discourage this as the game is balanced assuming you can use Estus flasks and re spawn at bonfires. On the subject of which I highly suggest you rest at everyone you see...

He's definitely undead, sorry, if my posts made this unclear. About prayer: cause my character is a priest, he wanna thank his gods before filling Estus.

So i was thinking of playing a paladin using oath of vengance, also what is this about undead, i apologize for my lack of knowladge towards the darksouls world, havent played the game but am a fan of the grim style worlds
