We’ll deal with character generation here.

Determine Characteristics
Roll 3D6 multiplied by 5 for the characteristics STR, CON, DEX, APP, and POW.
Roll 2D6+6 multiplied by 5 for SIZ, INT, and EDU.

(The multiply by 5 you need to manually as the dice roller doesn't support multiplication)

Also decide an age for your character as that will impact stats (older gives you a more educated character but weaker physically)

There is a dedicated 7e character sheet or if yo prefer custom sheets, you can grab from the repository.

Here goes nothing!

Rolls

STR - (3d6)

(465) = 15

CON - (3d6)

(241) = 7

DEX - (3d6)

(165) = 12

APP - (3d6)

(544) = 13

POW - (3d6)

(641) = 11

SIZ - (2d6+6)

(63) + 6 = 15

INT - (2d6+6)

(62) + 6 = 14

EDU - (2d6+6)

(36) + 6 = 15

So,

STR: 70
CON: 35
DEX: 60
APP: 70
POW: 55

SIZ:75
INT: 70
EDU: 75

AGE: 42

OK, for age. deduct 5 points from Str, Con or Dex. This can be from one stat or split over the three
Reduce your APP by 5
Make 2 Improvement check on EDU - that means make a d100 roll for each. If you fail (get over your stat) then gain 1d10 points to your EDU
Oct 13, 2022 11:58 pm
OK, I'll take the whole 5 points from STR.

APP reduced by 5 noted.

Rolls

EDU Check: - (1d100)

(67) = 67

Oct 13, 2022 11:59 pm
You can try twice with the EDU improvement
Oct 14, 2022 12:00 am
And just to be clear rolling over your STAT is a fail? So, my EDU stays the same.
Oct 14, 2022 12:03 am
Yes any time you try for an improvement, you need to roll high to get the benefit.

Ok, here's roll two...

Rolls

EDU Check: - (1d100)

(5) = 5

Have two that interest me... A Book Dealer that specializes in rare books on the occult and the supernatural. Or an Asylum Attendant that dabbles in the occult.
Oct 14, 2022 12:53 am
Also, regarding character sheets. I take it I need to post one on here somewhere? How do I go about that?

Book dealer might have more freedom to travel than asylum attendant but we can make either work.

Go to your characters and make a character from there you can pick a sheet. The easiest way is to pick call of Cthulhu 7e as your sheet. Alternatively you can pick custom sheet which you can customise with code. Templates can be found in a thread on the site if interested in this option.

Ok I’ll drop the info later

Book Dealer
A book dealer may be the owner of a retail outlet or niche mail order service, or specialize in buying trips across the country and even overseas. Many will have wealthy or regular clients, who provide lists of sought-after and rare works.

Occupation Skill Points: EDU × 4
Credit Rating: 20–40.
Suggested Contacts: Bibliographers, book dealers, libraries and universities, clients.
Skills: Accounting, Appraise, Drive Auto, History, Library Use, Own Language, Other Language, one interpersonal skill (Charm, Fast Talk, Intimidate, or Persuade).

Note that credit rating must be bought with these points in addition to the other skills. You can choose how well off the character is

Once you have the characters sheet up, you can apply it to the game, so go to the game page and look for this:

So an EDU of 75 gives you 300 points to spend on occupational skills. That includes Credit Rating which can be between 20 and 40

In addition, you get Int x 2 (140) to spend on Personal Interest skills, which can be any you like, except Cthulhu Mythos.

Note that skills all have a default value so what you spend is on top of that.

I also didn't ask about your character's age. That can impact your physical abilities if over 40 but will payoff with possible higher EDU (and more skill points)
