Indeed, we should keep searching for him. We should be careful not to be bit, who knows what we could get from these vermin. Harmon continues to search.

"Agreed. I feel uneasy about all this, but we should make sure Joshua is unhurt and well." Pablo puts his camera away for now and sees what he can find concerning their friend.

Moving further into the caves, looking for more footprints. The further in you go, the damper the atmosphere. There are stalactites, stalagmites, and other cave formations formed by water. Besides the glowing lichen, other forms of fungi are growing on the walls, ceilings, and floors, generations of which have made the floor soft with a coating of loam. The floor is slippery in places and you notice water pools in certain spots. You also notice there have been rock falls and collapses, blocking off passages at certain points.

There is more evidence of worked stone along the sides of the tunnel, some decorated with more of the serpent and geometric carvings as well as occasional unfathomable text.
OOC:
Let's have another Science Geology test for anyone that might know more.
The tunnel opens into a wider long and twisting chamber decorated extensively with elaborate carvings. While the snake motifs and other designs are present there is also a series of murals. First, there are carvings of landscapes, studded with towers and other structures. Robed serpentine figures are depicted engaged in various pursuits. some images show them worshipping an enormous serpent with a crescent symbol on its forehead. Others depict the serpent people and their cities being attacked by giant reptiles.

It occurs to Leland, Gregory, Max and Percival that these giant reptiles are various dinosaurs, including pterodactyls carrying hapless serpent people away. The end scenes show the serpent people abandoning their cities above ground to the reptiles and migrating underground, creating a new homeland under the earth.
OOC:

This realisation calls for a Sanity roll (0/1d3) - pass and you lose nothing, 1d3 if you fail.
Pablo and Harmon are blissfully ignorant.

If we go by the book example... a fumble means automatic maximum sanity loss. In this case, I assume the full 3 points (based on the 1d3 you mentioned). Unless you have something else in mind?

Gregory backs away from the images, struggling to deal with the implications.

"Dear Lord... upon what have we stumbled...? This could be the find of the century if true..." he mutters.

Correct! That's a loss of 3 sanity points, not enough to send you crazy yet, but may elicit some response. Let's look at the Sanity rules.
