Falconloft sent a note to runekyndig
While Astrid is busy talking to whoever it is she's talking to in there, a runner comes up to those of you waiting outside. He hands you an envelope, and then just stands there, waiting on something.

Astrid comes back out just about then, seemingly satisfied. Apparently her name got her what she wanted. Those of you who know how the great houses work also know this... If you use your name to get something, someone else will eventually want you to use your name to get them something too.

It looks like the professor has lined up some coursework for you to do while she's away, but you do still have the rest of the day free before you have to worry about that. Anything else you'd like to check into before you head to get some rest?

S'sylin wonders why he came along for this (personally) pointless expedition..... and how this messenger found them.

I'm done here.
What do you got there?

Astrid reads the note
Are we doing cataloging? Not the most stimulating work, but hopefully not as dangerous as Troglodyte wrangling.
I want a armor upgrade if we are going to do more wrangling, but the only studded leather I found was crap.

"I probably don't need any armor for book work. I mean... I would hope the books aren't that dangerous," Verin muses. "But yeah, the armor all seemed poor quality and overpriced for what it was. I'll save my coin for now."

The small Tiefling shrugs, and then notices the messenger was standing there. "Umm... yeah, guess we'll be there tomorrow." She stares at him for a moment, then fishes out a few silver and hands it over. "Broke college kids, that'll have to do."

@Khulod - S'sylin's searches ended him up with some really decent weapons even if they weren't any cheaper than normal. His chainmail doesn't confer Disadvantage on checks, and the shield will give him +3 defense instead of +2. Longswords are versatile, which means they do more damage if used with 2 hands, but yours will get the Versatile damage even with one hand, so it'll do 1d10 damage.

Also, it wasn't my intention to have everyone stick around for everyone else's errands, but the list of what people wanted to do was pretty short. If there's anything S'sylin needs to do, he doesn't have to wait around to do it.
The courier could tell you how exhausting it was stopping to ask twenty-seven people which way you'd gone for three hours until he finally caught up to you, but that's why he gets paid, so he isn't going to complain about it freely. He nods to you neutrally, hiding any disappointment - if there is any - and takes off at a trot, heading back to get another assignment.

It's probably only a bit past noon now, so you've got time for several other things probably. Kundarak does run this district, so any shops here are sure to be selling at least good-quality goods. It's not real certain what that means for your pocketbooks, but it might be worth a shot if you still want armor.

S'sylin killed the time, congratulating himself on his excellent finds in weaponry. Really, he was a genius in all regards, from becoming a demigod ruler to brilliant business transactions. Why, at this rate he would be ruler of Stormreach in a year or so!

The tremendously pleased Dragonborn looked down his considerable nose at the others accompanying him.
"You can have my old armor if you want."
He was so magnanimous....

S'sylin had a basic leather armor, dragonborn sized.

With nothing really left that's pressing, you all enjoy the day, sightseeing around the city. If there's anyplace safe that you'd like to go (feel free to have had your characters hear about places that you like, even if they haven't been mentioned here yet), then it's safe to assume you go there today. I will give you a couple rumors that you pick up wherever you go. We'll pick up the story for the next day in a new thread.

You trew me a RP-ball and I dropped it.

While I appreciate the gesture S'sylin, a leather armour from a male dragonborn, does not really count as an upgrade, compared to my own fitted leather.
Unless you are hoping that I will wear it, move about, see it fall off my shoulders - and get an eyeful of my boobs. Is that what you are after big guy?
Mar 12, 2024 11:09 pm
S'sylin looked offended, or even a little appalled at the suggestion. He might even gag a little..
"Really now, not only is your frail, thin skin repulsive to look at, the fascination of the scaleless ones with the milk-glands of their females is a bit of a running source of amusement, or should I say mockery, among my people."
Mar 13, 2024 5:43 am
Verin walks by as S'sylin and Astrid go back and forth, and without even looking at the big Dragonborn or breaking stride she quips, "You can't laugh at anyone -- you have a cloaca."

...and just like that she's gone, half way up the block looking in a window.
Mar 13, 2024 2:59 pm
It takes Astrid a second to process what Verin said, and then she burst out laughing. So much that she needs to take off her glasses to dry her eyes.
After the giggle have resided she looks at S'sylin and smile.
Come on... Lets get something to eat.

"A common misconception that... oh, yes! run off you, with your swinging milk-sacks!"
The dragonborn, annoyed and immediately contemplating a suitable revenge, crossed his arms.
"Hmph! Yes, let's.... and preferably somewhere that serves wine that doesn't taste like vinegar."
