OOC:
I think the 4 should be a success on a Focused roll? If he's interrupted before he can fully focus, he would do something else anyway. If he's not interrupted, then this happens:
Without either of us touching it, the door swings open and Eddisham's little light bobs into the opening to illuminate the room beyond.

OOC:
Yeah, the focused spell succeedes with a 4. I will take a look at the dice roller rules to see if I can fix that.
As the door slowly swings open the light fills the room and a low groaning growl is hear as a form moves from the side and swipes at the glow before it spies you beyond the now open door.
The creature is about 8 feet tall and very muscular but not quite right. The eyes are white and the facial expression is vacant. It moves in a halting, lurching manner. Ogre Zombie!
OOC:
2 actions per character each round of combat. The effcts of dodge last all round. go!

Eddisham Evades and Attacks with his shillelagh.

Rolls

Eddisham: Test DC: 5 - shillelagh (light weapon) - (2d6)

(25) = 7

Feb 1, 2023 1:48 pm
OOC:
@tergolap I am going to go at this time so Shmautz can go twice when you get a chance to post.
@tibbius hold off on Ed till Shmautz has a chance to go
FYI you only need to use an action to move if you are traveling more than 10' or so, bassically changing zones. I am not enforcing zones but will be tracking them and just let you know if you are close enough or need to move
Eddisham steps into the room and slams his staff into the undead with a sickening squeltch. The huge creature turns and slams a massive fist down and knocks Eddisham back and a sickening feeling permeated his body
OOC:
@tibbius Roll to evade or take 1 point of damage Eddisham
Also note if he does not evade his fist roll next round is at dissadvantage

Rolls

Attacks Ed DC: 5 - (2d6)

(51) = 6

Feb 1, 2023 1:54 pm
Eddisham tries to dodge the massive fist ...

Rolls

Eddisham: Test DC: 5 - Dis (Evade) - (1d6)

(1) = 1

Feb 1, 2023 6:47 pm
OOC:

We slipped into the door? Okay, let's go then ...
I get into the room right after Eddisham and draw my Tanto dagger.

While the creature lets his fist down on Eddisham, I sidestep and leap forward to slit him with the blade.
OOC:
Proficiency with the Tanto knife should be 2D6 I guess?

If the creature has turned around and faces Eddisham, I should be right next to it - maybe even "behind" his viewport/sight.

Rolls

Attack Zombie-Ogre with Tanto blade - (2D6)

(62) = 8

Attack Zombie-Ogre with Tanto blade - (2d6)

(53) = 8

Feb 1, 2023 8:13 pm
OOC:
@tergolap you have 2 actions each round. Just moving into the room is a step out two and did not take an action.
I added 2nd attack
@tibbius you're up with disadvantage on the 1st action you roll this round
Eddisham is slammed by the undead ogre who is in turn slammed twice by Shmautz, shearing of hunks of fetid flesh
Feb 2, 2023 1:27 am
Eddisham tries to Evade again while thrashing the undead ogre with his walking stick.
OOC:
o wait, I should have only rolled ONE die. It would have been a 6.

@tibbius Removing dice resullts are easy, thanks for remembering, you're good.
undead ogre
Enraged the ogre roars a wheezing raspy bellow and throws an attack at each of you. but fails to make contact.
OOC:
@tergolap remember you get 2 actions, 2 attacks, attack and evade, move and attact, etc

Rolls

Check DC: 5 - Eddisham - (2d6)

(22) = 4

Check DC: 5 - Basic - (2d6)

I really try to keep it in mind, but get carried away by the story and time between posts. GamersPlane is such a great platform, but I'm a 'visually-functioning' being. Sort of a graphical representation would help me a lot. Anyway, that must not be your problem.

"Eddisham, can you light a spark?"
, I shout, while fumbling with my bag to get the lantern-oil out.
I try to 'bob and weave' around the creature to stay out of sight and reach.

"It shall either burn or slip out and break his bones."
OOC:
I do have that Acrobat-Trait. Does this help in any way to avoid getting hit?

1st Action: getting the lantern-oil out of the rucksack in that situation.
2nd Action: dancing/moving around the Zombie-Ogre. Is this EVADE?
Feb 2, 2023 1:26 pm
OOC:
Acrobat is more focused on moving than on combat. You can learn an additional trait as you progress to improve you evade.
Yes, moving around so as not to be hit is an EVADE
Shmautz pulls the oil from his pouch and tosses it all over the undead, This will stink he thinks to himself and moves to avoid being pummeled. The ogre is now covered in oil.
Feb 2, 2023 2:39 pm
"Hah!" exclaims Eddisham as he again tries to Evade. The floating globe of light flickers and goes out as he spits at the ogre ...

Rolls

Eddisham: Test DC: 5 - Basic (dragon's spit spell) - (2d6)

(56) = 11

Feb 2, 2023 2:39 pm
... and his spit ignites as it flies, striking the ogre and igniting it!
Feb 2, 2023 2:45 pm
The oil ignites burning the undead ogre who lashes out at Eddisham again, as the source of the flame, before the fire consumes it's unlife and it collapses.
OOC:
Attack Eddisham, not watch. Roll to evade

Man the monster rolls have been weak.
Good thing there is still the boss to come. Evil grin 😁

Rolls

Watch Eddisham - (2d6, 2d6)

2d6 : (25) = 7

2d6 : (21) = 3

Feb 2, 2023 4:29 pm
Eddisham tries to dodge the Ogre's "dying" blow

but fails and gets hit by a flaming fist

The room now gets more attention and has an additional, though foul smelling, source of light. A simple large square room with the only adornments bring labels of the families that are buried in the other passageways. The room has 3 more doors leading to other underground rooms.
The ogres body sprawls across a large diagram recently traced onto the floor. Your best guys is this may have been where bodies where prepared for internment.

Eddisham looks at the diagram on the floor. "Hey Shmautz does that look like one of those circles the Commander talked about?"

Then he Focuses and tries to get his light back.

Rolls

Eddisham: Test DC: 4 - Basic - (2d6)

(51) = 6

Feb 2, 2023 9:14 pm
The glowing orb reveals a ritual diagram drawn on the floor with a dark and stick substance.
Feb 2, 2023 9:23 pm
"Honestly, I can't recall. However, all this - the Ogre, the lines on the floor, the weird visions and feelings here can't be just by accident. I guess, we've found something.

Are you okay? Shall we have a little rest? Though I guess it's not wise, as some one else might be around here. Or come back soon."
, I wan to know from Eddisham. After all he took some blows from the Ogre.
OOC:
Is there anything usefull in here? Sort of loot? I miss my oil. :)

Sigh, no, nothing useful here.
Try just a bit further. You might funny something fun to play with 😉 ignore that maniac in the corner cackling gleefully with a maniacal gleam in his eye. 👹
