Cat nods and follows Ronny back to the van, sliding her rapier back into its scabbard.
May 27, 2023 8:04 pm
"Hey look, that's the guy." Ronny tells Cat when they get to bakerstreet. "Why did he take his jacket off?"

"Buddy. Over here!" He yells at the guy and points to Bob's van when he looks.
May 27, 2023 10:53 pm
GJ startles when Ronny calls out, tries not to turn in reaction and then hunches his shoulders and speeds up his walk trying to look 'casual' but mainly intent on getting away from all of you as soon as possible.

Gabriela and Craig are still out there, but --and more importantly-- GJ has your computer, and the last you saw his (now missing) gizmo blew up Abby's old one.

What do you do?

Ronny sighs. "I'm getting too old for this..." Fearing that he may have to run after this guy, which he really doesn't feel like, he looks around for a convenient way to cut him off. Growing up on the streets, Ronny knows there's always a faster way. It might involve pushing over a trashcan or sliding under a pipe, though.

After few more shots, that Raf made "just in case" in the direction of Craig. He finally realized that Craig... is gone... for some reason. Or just pretending to be. After few more moments, when he made him sure that he is not able to track any other signs of Craig presence Raf tries to move to the next bunch of trees to circle around last Craig position. And then he hears Ronny good news through comms.
"Hmmm... is Craig really so obedient?" - Raf wonders.

Raf answers trough comms:
"Great news Ronny! Tell me it was your talking or the gun that did the job? Moving towards Bob's. "
OOC:
VagueGM - please tell me if Raf can be on time near the vat to help with GJ, or something happened on the way?

From just a tad too far away Lio sees that gj is passing-by the van.
Not again!

He sighs and picks up the pace. When he sees Ronny slipping into an alley between two buildings he knows he better stays on gj's trail, trusting Ronny to show up again exactly on the right spot.

Through the comms:
"What Ronny? He is not going towards the van!? What the hell is wrong with him? Ok, I see them. Going straight towards them, trying to cut him off... see you at the place."
Jun 6, 2023 6:57 am
Ronny replies to Raf. "Yeah, looks like heading for the laundromat on Lilac street. I think I just saw Lio run past me. Looks like he's chasing him down. If you get him from that angle, between the 3 of us, we'll have him cornered." Hoping that Lio will also hear it and act accordingly.

You three a able to coordinate and get around GJ into a pincer maneuver --with Bob and his van closing the last quadrant behind.

GJ stops when he sees you (whoever comes first or initiates contact) and holds up his hands in surrender. His eyes are darting around nervously, like he is still looking for a way out. He looks scared of you, still not sure if you mean him harm.

What do you do?
Jun 7, 2023 10:04 pm
"Can we please just talk?" Ronny asks the guy from a distance. "Preferably not on the street. How about that bar over there?" He nods to a sign saying 'Best booze in town' with an arrow on it.
"Is that enough of a neutral location for you?"

He sees his fellow travelers arriving from the other directions.
Jun 7, 2023 10:58 pm
Hearing what Ronny said, Raf smiles politely, slowly lower his hands and visibly to GJ tucks his gun in the holster, that is usually not visible at first glance under his coat. He add casually:
"Yeah... I can see that too... that most of us could use a drink right now." Raf sighs and continues.

"Mister... hear me out... I think it's about time, you figured out that our group is the civilized one. Shooting guns... usually ends in... nothing good... "- Raf stops again and with an expression on his face that shows that he's remembering something, he thinks for a brief second and adds after changing his face to a clearly dissatisfied one:
"Sometimes it end in something... like... holes in your favorite coat... at best... - So - I agree with my friend over there: enough shooting for one day." - Raf gets back to polite but self confident smile.

"We will not force you to do anything. At least I think we won't... and what is even better: we have a specific business proposal for you. So... Just factor in our contribution to saving your life - from the bad guys - and we'll disappear as quickly as we appeared."
OOC:
Should we roll something? If yes, I think Leadership would be a good fit in Raf's case, as he is trying to show GJ the way, supporting what Ronny started.

The talk about what 'shooting guns' normally ends in right after pointedly displaying and holstering a gun and the fact that he is surrounded and helpless and scared causes GJ to slump in defeat. All the fight has finally gone out of him and you are fairly sure he will not give you any more trouble.

The suggestion of the bar --on the other side of the park from him home-- seems reassuring and friendly, which he needs right now.
As you enter the bar the bartender --middle-aged, though still pretty-- greets GJ. "Morning Jacques," she says and GJ flinches at the name --maybe he did not plan to reveal that if he not have to. "Bit early for you."

"Uh? Yeah. Hi, Miriam." Jacques says. "Got some business with these gentlemen, here." He makes his way over to a booth at the back. The booths are not private, so everyone in the quarter-full bar can still see you, which possibly makes GJ more comfortable. Miriam follows and takes your orders. Jacques orders a double brandy, neat, to the raised eyebrow of Miriam. "You won't believe the morning I have had." Jacques explains.

You can hear the sound of police sirens nearby, and the sound of Bob's van's loud engine recedes as he departs ('flees the scene' some might say?:). "I'm'a gonna park a few blocks away." Bob says over the radio (phone).

If you wanted Abby to join you you will have to be quick, but it may be best for her not to be involved in this next part? (Though she handled herself really well with the previous dealing.).

Jacque (GJ) places the computer bag on the table. Currently no one pays it any attention, you can assume he usually carries a computer.

What do you do.

Lio arrives just in time to hear Raf's final sentence. He follows the guys into the bar. But doesn't join them at the booth. Instead he looks for a table close to the door with a good view of the bar.
Ronny and Raf can handle this just fine, better keep an eye out for other competition.

He orders some sparkling water and a sandwich.
Jun 8, 2023 10:39 am
- Lio -

Miriam circles round to your table after getting orders from your companions. "What'll you be having, dear?" She asks.

From here you can see the street --through the grimy window-- and see most of the bar. No one looks overly interested in the dealing happening at the booth, but quite a few heads crane to try to see what all the commotion is outside. More than a few locals watch you with mild suspicion.

What do you do?
Jun 8, 2023 10:59 am
"Just some water for me please." Ronny tells the bartender as he sits down at the booth with Raf and Jacques. His mouth feels like he's been eating sand. When the drink arrives, he downs 80% of it instantly.

"Since we just heard your name, I suppose it's only fair that you hear ours." He says. "I'm Ronny, this is Raf, and over there by the door is Lio." He tries to subtly point to Lio, so as to not draw attention from others.

He continues after a few seconds "So, Honeydrop told me you had a prototype." His eyes dart over to the bag. "I'm assuming that's it. We could really use that for a job we've been working towards. That's why we were looking for you. I didn't expect to find you on the verge of being robbed."
Jun 8, 2023 1:34 pm
Miriam looks unimpressed at the 'water' order, she does no not get much commission off of 'free', but she does not object.

"Robbed. Yes." Jacques agrees. "I don't know who they were." He lies badly. "But they wanted the prototype. Just goes to show how valuable it is." He points out, clearly trying to improve his bargaining position.
Jun 9, 2023 10:11 am
"Double Jameson, please." - Raf throws a short line toward the bartender.

Raf - waiting for Miriam to depart far enough from the table - smiles broadly thinking how funny it is, that the moment ago they probably saved: his life or his body from some serious injuries or... at least him giving the computer "for free"... and now - when he could catch just a glimpse of safety - first thing he thinks about is to get more money. Especially considering - what all the info indicates - that his rush and greed has put him in this situation in the first place.
"Some people never learn."

Than, changing his face and voice Raf tries to sound a little irritated, but keeping his voice down(in fact being very calm inside) - says to Jacques:
"Valuable!? Maybe only in right hands. Right now I would rather call it 'desired'... and it seems that the ONES that desire it... are of this particular kind... that don't do half measures and aren't very keen to PAY for things... Don't you think?"

suddenly turning to Ronny and pocking him under the table, to show him that "today Raf is the Bad Cop":
"Ronny, are we wasting our time here? And we should leave him with the thing and just leave the place?" - acting as he would start to be angry.

Ronny, catching on to the routine, goes along with it. "Hang on, Raf. Let's give him a chance to calm down and have some of that brandy. I'm sure that, after we basically saved him from a robbery/kidnapping, he's inclined to make a fair deal." He turns to Jacques again with a relaxed and reassuring look. "Right?"
Jun 9, 2023 9:35 pm
Ronny, sensing that Jacques isn't very confident, tries his best to get a good deal out of this. Often when haggling you don't need to know the right price. What you need to know is how low someone is willing to go. This is something he's done before.

"So.. what's your price?"

After some back and forth it becomes apparent that Jacques' greed --which got him into this-- is a problem you are going to have to overcome.

He was clearly hoping for a payout that would make it worth the risk of stealing this prototype from his work. But you get the impression that he could be convinced to settle for just getting Gabriela and her gang off his back leaving him to deal with any fallout from his job on his own. You think you can convince him that a nice public handover of the prototype --there are people in this bar who would talk, and could therefore serve as the needed witnesses-- could cause them to lose interest in him... if he then keeps his mouth shut about any chance of more prototypes in the future.

He is demanding 40,000 Credits for his part, and you know that such a prototype device would usually sell for around 15,000 Credits if it weren't for the illegal factor. Jacques feels that the stolen nature of the computer increases its value --it is not for sale anywhere-- but you may be able to argue that it's stolenness decreases what you should pay --after all it did not cost him anything (or at least not 'Credits') to get it-- but that would be a Formidable task.

Depending on where in that range of 40-15K you are willing to settle it will range from an Easy to a Difficult Persuade (with INT) Check.
