OOC:
I should have rolled NPC Initiative. I am so out of practice with this whole 'Initiative' thing.

Rolls

NPC Croucher Initiative (DEX) - (2d6+2)

(61) + 2 = 9

NPC Speaker Initiative (DEX) - (2d6+1)

(11) + 1 = 3

Apr 14, 2023 3:46 pm
Cat tenses and readies herself for combat.

Rolls

Initiative - (2d6)

(46) = 10

Apr 14, 2023 5:00 pm
Ronny looks over to where a surprised shout can be heard. Is that Raf? "So much for no gun fight, I guess." He says to cat as he reaches for his own gun again, trying to keep it at least a little concealed.

Rolls

Initative (int) - (2d6+3)

(15) + 3 = 9

Apr 14, 2023 5:57 pm
Lio sees the woman draw her gun and does the same. He's not really sure who is the enemy here. The green jacket DID hit him in the face, but that's not something worth dying for.

Rolls

inititive +INT - (2d6+1)

(34) + 1 = 8

Apr 14, 2023 6:44 pm
The woman seems slow to act, but it looks like she will try to put Green-Jacket between herself and your party, to use him as a shield. Everyone has a moment to do something to change that.

The man points his gun at Raf. "Drop your.. DROP YOUR WEAPON!" He starts soft and gains confidence as he ends with a shouted order, though his gun-hand still shakes a bit and he is sweating.

What do you each do?
OOC:
You are all within shouting and shooting distance of each other. Raf's scene is separated from the others by foliage.
Apr 15, 2023 6:32 pm
"Let him go!" Cat calls out to the green-jacketed individual. "This doesn't have to end in bloodshed!"
Apr 15, 2023 7:11 pm
- Cat -

The woman continues to move towards Green-Jacket (GJ) who still has not seen the gun in her hand. "I want no trouble." She replies in a calm-sounding voice. "Just let us go." She is turning your words back on you, and trying to include GJ in her use of 'us'.

She says something to GJ in out the side of her mouth, but GJ does not look at all comfortable with this situation, and does not know which of these groups to be more scared of.

You still have a moment before she fully repositions so that GJ is protecting her from your line of fire.

What do you do?
Apr 15, 2023 9:08 pm
Cat does not have a ranged weapon (and couldn't use it proficiently if she did). She spreads her arms wide and takes a step toward the woman and her victim. "I'm not armed," she says (though her rapier is clearly visible), "I just want to talk."
Apr 15, 2023 9:25 pm
- Cat -

"We have nothing to say to you." Your opponent says, still moving to get behind GJ.

There is very little reason they would agree to talk to you, it can only make their situation worse.
OOC:
If Cat really wants to 'talk', that will be a Formidable (14+) Check, probably Persuade, and probably INT?

If she Cat is instead trying to intimidate her into backing down or leaving, then that might be a Very Difficult (12+) Check, probably Persuade, with maybe INT or a Physical Characteristic that makes Cat look scary?

This is about as far as you can get without taking a Significant Action and rolling the dice.
Or you can Delay and let someone else act first.
Apr 15, 2023 9:43 pm
Cat is going to delay, to allow her allies to get in an action.
Apr 16, 2023 12:06 pm
Ronny aims his gun at the person holding GJ. Not aiming down the sights, but more of a hip shot thing. "I'd listen to her if I were you." He shouts loud enough that the 'bad guys' can hear. "We've got you surrounded, out numbered, and out gunned. We've got snipers on the roof too." He uses his other hand to point at some rooftops nearby without taking his eyes off the enemy.

"Consider this. Is the thing you're after worth the risk? We could all just walk away uninjured."
OOC:
I think a deception roll would be in order here. The books puts bluffing under 'persuade' though. So I'm not sure.

Rolls

Persuade +INT - (2d6+5)

(55) + 5 = 15

Apr 16, 2023 1:24 pm
The woman looks suddenly less confident --glancing around at the distant buildings surrounding the park-- you have her on the back-foot but she has not given up yet.
OOC:
Maybe Raf's encounter with the man threatening him will push things over the edge, or Lio may be able to put an end to this stalemate before it comes to violence, which it seems nobody wants?
Apr 17, 2023 6:25 am
Lio puts his arms in the air. Still holding his gun in a non threatening way pointed at the sky.
'' Let's all calm down for a moment and assess the situation. And please, don't make any sudden moves, we don't want ANYbody to get hurt.''
He slowly walks towards g-j. But directs his voice to the assailant.
'' Is there a possibility we can talk this over? Do we even want the same thing? If you put down your gun I'll order the snipers to stand down. And we will also put down ours. Let just talk for a moment ''
He nods at Ronny and cat, but skips Raf.

OOC:
I imagine it as staring standoff between Raf and the thug NPC - as before he turned around because of Raf mistake, Raf already had his gun pointing at him and could theoretically fire his weapon. But the guy was fast enough(Initative roll.... ) that he managed to turn around and have his gun pointing at Raf.
Seeing that guys was quite fast and now is also aiming his gun on him, Raf hisses:
"Not a slightest chance... PAL. As you can see I already had gun aimed at you. Could fire it like 3 times now. So either we both end with holes in our bellies or you help me and my friends reason with your boss babe out there." - Raf intentionally underscore claim that the woman could be his boss, counting on the chance that it would put him in his place - not to decide by himself - or enrage him a little if the girl is not his boss at all.

Hopefully seeing some confusion on thug face, Raf waste no time and says out loud:
"Hay Lady! My friends are right. I also keep your big pet in check right here. You both are really not in a good position to negotiate. Not at all."
- while standing up very, very slowly not taking his gaze from the thug even for a second.

Rolls

Streetwise(INT) - judging who's the boss and how to talk with the thugs - (2d6+2+1)

(41) + 3 = 8

Apr 18, 2023 9:51 am
OOC:
So mechanicall that would be 3 minor actions:
- AIMING at the guy,
- CHANGING STANCE - getting up from crouch,
- MISCELLANEOUS - keeping him in check and "convincing" to "add something useful to the discussion".

I must say, I start to like this division in Traveller combat system... :)

OOC:
Previous post edited with a roll. So assuming that TN for streetwise roll was 8 , that gives Raf +1 on this roll - considering TASK CHAINS rules. I will just repeat the last sentences here:
Hopefully seeing some confusion on thug face, Raf waste no time and says out loud:
"Hay Lady! My friends are right. I also keep your big pet in check right here. You both are really not in a good position to negotiate. Not at all."
- while standing up very, very slowly not taking his gaze from the thug even for a second.

Rolls

Persuade(INT) +1 from chain [TN 8+] to help Lio with his Doctor's words - (2d6+1+1)

(36) + 2 = 11

Apr 19, 2023 9:47 am
OOC:
Not sure if this is what vague had in mind. I'll add this roll in a post without fiction, that way it is easily deletable.

Rolls

Negotiate - (2d6+1-3)

(41) - 2 = 3

Apr 22, 2023 4:38 pm
"Alright," Cat calls, addressing the pair. "We've got you covered and you've got us covered. Why not calm down and let's negotiate? If not, we all start shooting and no one wins."

Rolls

Persuade - (2d6+1)

(41) + 1 = 6

"Craig! Cover me!" Girlboss calls as she grabs GJ by the jacket collar and puts him between herself and the enemies she can see. "Rudolf! Find that sniper!" She orders into her comm, followed by: "Nigel! Report in! Where are you?" This last request sounds like something she has repeated before and is getting impatient and nervous about the lack of response.

GJ squeaks in surprise as her gun comes up to his head. "You're coming with me!" She says to him, all pretense of being his friend gone.

"Please don't hurt me." He begs her as his eye seek yours in an apologetic-looking plea for help. He still has the possibly-computer-sized package in one hand and a strange device in the other. There is dried blood on his hand, but you see no sign of him being injured.
GJ and his computer forms a shield between you and the woman.
There are trees behind her, and she seems intent on moving towards them and off the path, probably as a deterrent to your 'snipers'. This could be an advantage over fighting on the open path... though an advantage to whom, you don't know yet, whoever makes better use of the environment, probably.
Your 'sniper' rouse has also removed 'Rudolf' --if they exist-- from the fight, for now.
OOC:
Assume and insert copious swearwords of your choosing into her speech.
Feel free to insert park-relevant terrain and use it as you please.
What do you do?
Apr 22, 2023 5:33 pm
- Raf -

"Er... Yes boss." The crouching man (Craig?) calls back, but he gives you a shrug and a grimace as if to say 'orders, what can you do?'.

You have the advantage over him, he is still crouched in an awkward position as he turned to face you, but his gun is Aimed (mechanic) at you as yours is at him. You could easily keep him busy and prevent him from helping against your companions. Or, standing as you are, you could probably get yourself out of his immediate threat range, but that would sacrifice your advantage and free him to act. He seems nervous, though, and possibly reluctant to give up his life for his 'boss', so you may be able to leverage that, somehow.
