I try to understand and think of who the kobold is thinking of.

"Pretty?" Aiwë scoffs. She turns to her friends. "Good news is he isn't an orog. That would have been a lot more trouble. Also good news—in my opinion—he definitely doesn't worship an orcish god."

Runeson thinks back through what he knows of his own faith; Hoar is hardly a benevolent deity, and some of the god's history is dark. For example, he was once a servant of Bane, one of the most tyrannical gods to ever be worshipped in Faerun. Thus, Runeson's knowledge of evil and brutal faiths is not neglected, and he begins to put the pieces together.

Sea-Rike? That sounds awfully similar to... Cyric, the Black Sun!

Cyric is a ruthless, megalomaniacal god of chaos, murder, and lies. His worshippers stop at nothing to see his will done... though since none can agree on what his will is, the faithful turn on each other as often as accomplishing anything at all. Still, there are few Faerunian gods who encourage their clergy to such extremes of cruelty.

If the mastermind behind the troubles of the Nashkel Mines, this "Mule-a-hay", is truly a servant of Cyric, he could be very dangerous indeed.

I think we need to proceed with even more caution from here. If this Kobold's leader is a worshiper of Cyric then we are about to face someone not only cruel, but merciless as well. We shouldn't take this lightly. I then continue to answer any questions that my companions may have with what I may know, hopefully getting my warning across.

After discussing what they've pieced together of the occurrences in the mine, the companions prepares to head through the door in the lava chamber and take on whatever's on the other side.

When they're ready, Dieter and Runeson take the front, both with shields raised and at the ready. Just behind them is the kobold Snog'snoot, keeping up light chatter about random things such as cookies and how bad the iron poison mixture tastes, and the rest of the party forms up after that.

Dieter is about to test the door's handle when Imoen chirps up from the back. "Huh, I hope there are no traps on that door..."

At the same time, Calliope notices a faint magical rune scribed onto the door's surface in the top right corner. That can't be a good thing.
OOC:
It's definitely a magical trap. Hmm... How do you want to proceed?

Stella finishes bandaging up Dieter when Calliope points out the runes.

She purses her lips. "It'll take a few minutes, but I can try to figure out what it does."
OOC:
Spends 10 minutes to cast Identify unless anyone interrupts or has a different idea.

With a few minutes of careful magical inquiry, Stella determines that the rune is a glyph of warding spell, primed to deal heavy electrical damage to anyone who breaches the door unauthorized.
OOC:
Normally i'd copy the text of the spell directly into the post, but it's a dang long one. Have a link instead!

This is specifically the 'explosive runes' part of the spell.

Meanwhile, Snog'snoot begins to sing:

Love dem frogs
So good to eats
Skinny bones
An' tasty meats
Gives 'em fry
Gives 'em salt
Yous chokes and die
Not's my fault!

He actually manages to sing in tune, and his voice isn't horrible!

Peering through a pearl as if it were a lens, Stella analyzes the door and its glyph.

Through the pear, the door and glyph appears a night-sky blue outlined in stars. She focuses on the different stars of varying sizes and colors, each representing a node that connect to the Weave.

She peers into a small one. Divination... she mutters. a few stars branch of it. Proximity...biology...or life signature?

Then she peers into a much larger one. "Evocation...Lightning. A lot of it."

"I think it'll fire lightning at everyone nearby if anyone tries to pass through without being given permission. If we want to disable it, we'll need a stronger spellcaster or...someone to trigger it for us," she says bleakly. She thinks for a moment.

"If someone could trigger it then immediately teleport away, that might work. But it'd be risky."

Aiwë laughs loudly at Snog'snoot's song. "Fantastic! I love it!" She sings it with him a couple times, dancing with Dieter as Stella works on the door.

At her news she becomes quiet.

"Guys... don't you think the mayor would have seen when he came to look down here? His family, brutally murdered... You don't think...? She turns to Snog'snoot.

"Do you know this man?" She produces an image of Mayor Ghastkill.

Despite the heat, a chill runs down Stella's spine. "Well...the mine certainly couldn't have been this infested for people to just go missing occasionally, right? The breach could be recent...but maybe..."

Dieter’s already pale face falls even paler …you think?" Dieter stops he paces a bit ..he’s? he turns "oh no" Dieter reflexively gets in a ready position

I should have never trusted in martial competence as a character defining feature.

"What if we throw one of the bats at it. Surely they’re not allowed to pass" dieter suggest between bouts of paranoia

Shelur looks at the door. "No." She stands in front of it and shakes out her arms and squares her shoulders. "I think I can take it."

"…Take what?" Dieter asks puzzled "Wait no, that’s not a plan. by my blood Aiwë I thought you’re smarter than that, this trap is designed to kill people." Dieter emphasizes the last part by smacking his right fist into flattened palm at each word.
