Salvation Outpost

37 will make sure everything worth salvaging is packed to go. He will also make sure the warforged are all still laid out respectfully, securing the tent to keep out the elements as best as possible. Saying a few words, hoping they have found peace and an end to their war, 37 turns away.

Satisfied that he has done all he can, he will load into the coach and prepare for the ride back to Salvation. Sitting quietly, he hopes the trip will be uneventful... but he keeps an out out, in case it is not.

Malbor dusts himself off and gathers his belongings. He packs his bedroll and mess kit carefully and prepares to leave. Eyeing the wagon he looks concerned. He waits while the others board the wagon and then climbs up the large rear wheel and takes a seat on the roof at the back.

Core does his best to memorize the map to the cliffs since he has no ink and paper to copy.

When everyone is loaded in the coach, Core will take off for Salvation.

Vice jumps in the front next to the drovers seat. He will definitely try to ride shotgun unless someone objects.

Just a moment. Taking it the map and the Scribes Pen, that he practices with to gain assignment last night, he copies theyl map onto a spot of the wagon easily visible to the driver. There ya go

And he holds down and climbs in back

Earic quickly takes a seat inside the protection of the coach, leaving Vice to ride shotgun with Core. With Malbor on the roof, there’s an empty spot, that and with a gnome in one seat, the inside feels quite spacious.
OOC:
If everyone is ready, I’ll get Core to give me a straight up wisdom check to see how well you handle your first time on the coach.

Mordaky packs up and joins the others in the coach. It wasn't his first time seeing this vehicle, having lived in Sharn for a bit, but it was his first time riding in one for sure. As soon as he had his things stowed he tapped the roof twice and said with a grin, "Home James, and don't spare the horses"

Core pushes the switch and the coach crackles to life. There’s a little bit of jerkiness to the coach early in the trek, but the ride smoothes out after a short while. It’s clear Core has gain control and he settles into a good pace as you journey back to Salvation.

Using Gzizmix’s map as a guide, you find a decently travelled road and the trip back is fairly uneventful. You did notice your new coach caught the jealous eyes of a couple scavengers along the way, but you’re pleasantly surprised to make it back to the mists by mid-morning.

The spirits in the mist try to hold you back, but the coach powers through the grey curtain without too much issue. Earic bangs on the roof as you approach the outpost.

"I feel a discreet entry into town may be wise.", now clear of the Grey, he seems much more at ease and he uses his elf nimbleness to climb onto the roof and guide you south around the scrapyard to the back of the salvage market. There, he opens a large door to what you assume is Belaluur’s warehouse and ushers Core and the coach inside. Closing the door behind you.

"Bela?", he calls out. "Are you in?"

The teenage goblin you saw yesterday crashes through the salvage in the warehouse and clutches Earic around the knee. "You’re safe!" she squeaks.

"Yes Garundah. Where’s your mother? I have important news."

Belaluur
"Well, well, well. Not bad for a bunch of first-timers.", Belaluur marches up to Earic, "And you, you dim witted ginger. What in Galifar happened to you?"

Earic relates the story of his discovery of the Cyre ir’Wynarn artifacts, the possible debris field, his encounter with the warforged, their apparent interest in the missing vessel and his eventual rescue.

Earic Finnini
"I must admit, I seem to have slept through their skirmish, but this crew seems very capable. They dispatched them without much issue. Then there’s the matter of the elemental coach…"

An argument ensues between the goblin and the half elf about her marque from King Boranel and the nobles right of first refusal of items plundered from the Grey.

Vice will hang behind and ask Core to show him some basic controls of the coach. Hoping thay he gets to take a crack at driving it one day.
Feb 23, 2023 6:55 am
Core says in reference to the Elemental Coach. He wants to drive to Sharn on a particular day with it. That is all he really wants with it. Just a special day. One time only.

Coming in on it would highlight so much. People make way for such. Only the rich or affluent could possibly have one. Core wants it for that day. There is a gleam in his crocodile eyes. It obviously means a great deal to him.

It is odd for him. Before he has really just mentioned coin. But whatever he wishes it for has nothing to do with coins.

Core has no trouble about showing Vice how to drive it.

Malbor stays on top of the coach, away from the others, but listens in on the exchange below.

Belaluur turns to the group. "Alright Gentlemen, let’s get down to business. Earic here seems to want you to keep the coach. He thinks he can convince the Lady d’Cannith to sign it over to you.", she shoots Earic a sideways look and sighs.

"However, other nobles in the Breland would likely offer more for it and I’m hoping you’re aware that the marques of the King bind us brokers to the nobles right of first refusal for anything coming out of the Grey. I can front the salvage cost, but that’s still a lot of coin. Five thousand gold pieces actually. I understand you have some other salvage and some Cyran artifacts, plus there’s the gold I promised to pay you for your efforts. I’m not expecting it all today, but you’ll be in my debt till I get my coin back."

She eyes the lot of you with a shrewd grin, "Show me what you have and let’s make ourselves a deal."

Kleber groan in annoyance "5.000 gold in taxes" everyone can hear Kleber's distate towards the very concept of imposts. He starts scratching his chin thinking about Belaluur's idea, before saying anything concrete he needs to decide with the group [b]"Hate to admit it, but we'll need Belaluur's help to hold on the Wagon without fighting some rich inbreed snobs. Do you guys have any problem being indetured workers in exchange for a very nice coach?"

Sitting with Core and Vice Gzizmiz comments on the "Right of Refusal" with scorn Does the right of refusal only apply to salvage or anything? Who is to say the warforged did not bring this into they area from outside? But then again most nobles I am aware of tend to twist the law their way and hat it when others they view as less or weaker try to use it against them.
Responding to Kleber The coach saves time and is worh it. I vote to keep it.
Upon hearing about the pending transactioon he hops down and wanders over, not having seen everything previously. When the navigators tools come out he will claim those as part of his cut. The navigator tools (not listed in OOC) could be useful if anyone is proficient...
OOC:
What would it take to learn to use the navigators tools? It seems they could work realy well with Gzizmix's cartographic abilities.

"I am abivalent about the coach, honestly," 37 replies. "Although I can see the value in having access to it."

Glancing at the others, he adds, "It is a lot of coin. My goal was to make money, not stumble into indentured servitude. That said, if you all insist on keeping it, may I suggest our first action is to return with Earic to the believed crash site and recover as much valuable scrap as possible in order to pay off our debt with haste."

"That's a good idea 37, I think the coach will supply a faster and safer way to make our way around the Mournland, but it'll also catch the attention of others. It wouldn't be the first time I was down that much coin, but as long as we can hit a big pots soon, then it'll be worth it. I am in"
Feb 23, 2023 4:01 pm
While Vice likes the idea of having this group around in case trouble comes up, but he likes the idea of freedom more. 'I agree with Gzizmix, cant we argue that it's a spoil of war, and not a salvaged item?'

"Dear sweet Ziz, the marque covers all Cyran artifacts. There are many that want Cyre’s treasures. King Boranel was gracious enough to allow us to broker the deals, it was the only way to stop the full out looting of the Mournland. Techinically, your chest would be included, but I can gloss over some small trinkets. I can’t explain away a rare item like a Cyran elemental cart. Hiding its discovery will be quite impossible."

She turns to Kleber and faking a look of shock, she puts her hand over her chest, "Indentured? I would never!", she says in a sarcastically sweet voice, "Think of it as a very large pay advance for future service, with the condition that I put prices on your heads if said services aren’t rendered.", she lets out a playful cackle and gives Kleber a wink. "I’m only kidding, Handsome.". Despite her friendly demeanour, you definitely get the feeling she’s not kidding.

I am sure if at a later date we decide we no longer require it and it is sold we will get back a proportionate return. Correct? he asks Belaluur
