Nictorah says:
At the Gliding Boot…
A short while after Core’s departure, two official looking guards in gold and blue tunics with a Gorgon crest arrive to speak with Vice and Malbor. "Earic Finnini and Lady d’Cannith request your presence at d’Cannith Manor.", they pause to look around the tarvern. "We were told there would be three. Will your friend be joining us?"
Malbor says only "There will not. Lead on."

Lady d’Cannith

Lady d’Cannith
Lady d’Cannith nods knowingly, "Very well, Mr. Kleber. To put it bluntly, I do not trust any of the house leaders, least of all Merrix. Rumours persist that he violates the ruling preventing the creation of warforged.", the Lady gestures to 37, "He still sees your people as possessions, a commodity to build his wealth. I personally believe Merrix still has a creation forge, possibly even in Sharn."

She sighs softly, "Rather than dive into politics however, I will focus on the task at hand. To understand, you must know the importance of the Cyre ir’Wynarn. It was the most advanced airship, not only for its elemental cannons, or its double elemental rings. The entire vessel was a warforged. Born in a creation forge, she was a sentient, airborne colossus. Merrix d’Cannith devised it before the Mourning. Most frightening is the rumour that a powerful magic was used to imbue the Cyre with a mark of storm. Giving her the power to control the airship’s elemental rings without the need of a dragon marked to pilot. This has never been accomplished in our history. Thankfully, whoever did it was lost in the Mourning. However with the Cyre, Merrix may decipher how it was done. This cannot happen. If Merrix has a functioning forge as I suspect, he could build a dragon marked army. No kingdom could resist such a powerful weapon. I intend to salvage the elemental matrix to teach a new in generation in New Cyre how to build elemental airships. Give them a purpose, allow them to thrive. The remains of the Cyre and any trace of the warforged ship must be destroyed and her secret dragon mark with it."

One of Lady d’Cannith’s guard brings Malbor and Vice to a horse drawn cart outside and quickly makes their way to the manor. One guard stays behind to settle your tab. Within a few minutes you pull up to the manor. As you approach the room Malbor hears something about destroying a dragon mark. Vice is a little tipsy, but keeps up.

Lady d’Cannith
The Lady welcomes you and introduces herself. As you sit, she gives the two of you a simplified version of the same story.

"I cannot overstate the importance of this endeavour, but also the risk you take in continuing with Earic and I. I trust Earic and so trust you. If you wish, you may collect your finders fee and return to Salvation on your own. Or you may join the crew that will collect the Cyre ir’Wynarn. Your skills may yet be required if Merrix is aware of our discovery. I am open to any of your questions of course. This is a lot to digest, I’m sure. The choice to continue with us is yours."

The young Lady watches all of you closely as she takes a sip of her wine.

"I am an agent of our House," 37 replies simply. "The House gave me purpose when I found myself lost. I cannot stand by when more of my kind may be being created as nothing more than tools."
May 11, 2023 2:10 am
I can not speak for the others but I myself would like to view and assist in the research involving the Cyre ir’Wynarn. The one thought I have is with something with this much value I can easily anticipate greed driving those in the know to gather almost any resources possible to secure what they need. Will you be able to counter them or has it become a race we need to join to ensure some secrets are lost?

Lady d’Cannith
"Yes, I can only imagine what it’s been like for the Warforged, 37. The Canniths may have created your kind, but we had no right to enslave you as we did.", her gaze lingers on 37, before she turns to Gzizmix.

"The warforged history of the Cyre should be forgotten, of that I am certain. Any insight into its double ringed design would give us the edge we need for our planned factory. We’ll need to board her, perhaps there’s documents on board we can use. I’ve requested the services of a dear friend and his airship to tow the Cyre out of the Mournland. His name is Captain Vren Syrania. His ship is the Zarantyr’s Light. His vessel is tucked the foothills south of the city. And yes, Mr. Famber, his vessel is armed should it become necessary.", she says gravely.

The Lady looks around the table making eye contact with each of you. "As I see it, Merrix d’Cannith is the most dangerous opponent we have. He has the resources, he knows what the Cyre is, but apparently not where it is. It would also seem like he does not want others to know, or else he would not have sent spies and assassins after a Cyran historian. Lastly, there’s the Mournland’s warforged that Earic has mentioned and their pursuit of her. We must move quickly. My guard will escort you to the Zarantyr. Destroy any trace of the warforged, collect any documents you can. Be safe. Any further questions?.
May 11, 2023 3:00 pm
Oh, I have so may questions! vice exclaims "But seeing as only about a third of them are relevant, I wont delay us to satisfy my curiousity. Sounds like we should be on on way as quickly as possible."

Lady d’Cannith
The Lady smiles at Vice’s excited comment and looks from Vice to Gzizmix in a moment of inspiration, "Gnomes are well known for their skill at binding elementals. Such knowledge would be helpful in our quest to start an airship factory. I also hear there are elementals in the north of the Mournland and you seem to be in the business of adventuring into the Grey. Perhaps there is a partnership we can arrange after the Cyre is safely retrieved."
May 11, 2023 3:51 pm
"Perhaps, m'lady. However... first we need to get the Cyre. Let's get moving." 37 is all business.

Kleber feels a bit nervous as the job has taken a rapid turn from a simple scavange mission to dealing with military-grade ships and getting involved in house business. Only saving grace is that the job is still a straightforward recovery, the object in question being a giant ship doesn't help much.
"Uhum, we should get to work soon before anyone else discovers the wreck. There are some Blades lurking around the area last time we went there."

Kleber inclines his head towards lady d’Cannith "If you happen to know of any means to deal with a Cadaver Collector near the crash site, it would be a great help. It's not hostile, but I don't feel safe with the construct nearby while we work"

Vice rubs his beard thinking "Oh yeah, we don't want to come across that thing again unprepared. Good thinking Kleber! We'lltake one cadaver colletor crusher please M'lady."

Earic Finnini
Earic Finnini
Earic chimes in, "Right you are, Kleber. The Blades are concerning. More so because they had the belongings of another airship captain. The ghastly collector shouldn’t be an issue. The plan is to tether the Cyre to the Zarantyr while still in the air. To your point though, we should leave immediately."

Lady d’Cannith
Lady d’Cannith nods and calls for her guards. Four enter the room, they are well armed, elaborately dressed and ready to go. "See them to the edge of the city and make sure they are not followed.", she says sternly. "Give my best to Captain Syrania."

The guards nod to the Lady and begin to escort you from the house.

Secret Roll

The guards guide you and Earic through the edges of New Cyre where the buildings give way to a road leading into rolling hills and a sparse forest. As you approach, a familiar looking black arrow thuds into the ground in front of the lead guard. A hissing voice yells out from somewhere in the trees, "Give us the Khoravar. You needn’t die for him."
OOC:
Give me a perception check.

"As if I would trust you leaving us alone, I already got shoot in the back once!" Kleber shouts out while frantically scanning for the archer.

Elf Assassin

Up in a tree, about a hundred feet away, Gzizmix, 37 and Malbor spot a male, dressed all in black. His bow at his side.

Kleber catches a glimpse of two elfs, flanking in nearby trees, Malbor and 37 quickly spot two more ahead on the path and one across the creek. Gzizmix realizes the assassin has two in support in the brush beneath his tall tree.

"Very well!", the elf yells. "Let your deaths haunt him!"
OOC:
Let’s roll some initiative. The guards are yours to command. Otherwise they’ll default to protecting Earic. They each have an option for a heavy crossbow (100/400) or great sword for melee. Their speed is 30.

The elfs will be flankers, support and of course the leader for simplicity of their initiative.
