Lady d’Cannith

Lady d’Cannith
Through Earic’s description of the events, Lady d’Cannith listens intently. Upon learning Cyre is still alive, you noticed a flash of worry cross her face, but she composes herself quickly. You get the sense she does not agree with this decision.

As Earic confirms his stance that Cyre should not be harmed, you detect a hint of frustration in her. She’s not angry and doesn’t necessarily seem like she’ll do anything rash, but you get the sense this was not how she planned.

The Lady takes a moment to process what is going on before she responds, "The Cyre ir’Wynarn has been brought here at great risk to our city from those that would seek it out and great personal expense. It’s my understanding that colossi are barely a step above clockwork magic. Fully dependent on its creators to function. Is this one different somehow?"

She looks about the group to see if there’s any input or whether you agree with Earic.

'Well, this one is a ship' Vice unhelpfully answers

"There is no question it is sentient.

"Also, should we be concerned about the missing guards and their prisoner?" Vice ask

Lady d’Cannith
Lady d’Cannith frowns at Vice’s ship comment, "Thank you, Mr. Fiddleboot.", she says in exasperation.

At Malbor’s remark of sentience, she gives a loud sigh and shakes her head in disbelief. She sits staring at the table in reflection for a moment, setting Vice’s question about the assassins aside for now.

Finally turning to 37, she says, "If anyone is best suited to understand this situation, it would be you, Mr. 37. If this ship is indeed a sentient warforged like yourself, I would like to have your say on the matter."

37 will take a few moments to compose his thoughts.

He will start by recounting his vision, although he will be sure it is understood as such -- a vision, to be acknowledged but also taken with some skepticism as visions are rarely straightforward.

"And that brings us to Cyre, m'lady," 37 continues. "She is sentient, as much as I am. Her form limits what she can do, obviously, but she is capable of thinking, and performing tasks on her own... truly, her form is her biggest restriction."

With that, 37 will recount many of the discussions he had with Cyre in their time together.

"My loyalty is to our House, m'lady. However... I am respectfully asking to not be forced to choose between the House and Cyre -- for reasons I believe are obvious. Further... our House gave me opportunities at a time Warforged were... lost. When others wanted us 'disabled' because of perceived safety, or simply because we served as a reminder of things they wanted to forget, our House allowed me to persist, to be more than I ever could have been simply churning out arms for the war.

Cyre deserves that opportunity as well."

Lady d’Cannith
While 37 explains, the Lady’s attention never strays from the warforged. You can tell she is being very guarded right now. As 37 pleas for Cyre’s freedom, you see her countenance soften slightly.

"You have served your house well, Mr. 37. You need not worry about choosing loyalties. You appear to have formed quite a bond with ‘Cyre’. She is clearly protected by the Treaty of Thronehold. As such, she is as free as you or I. However, there are those in Khorvaire who may not agree. We should be wary."

She pauses briefly to collect her thoughts. "Very well. We have a new problem. I will admit, I had not planned on repairing a warforged, merely restoring a warship. The makers I have gathered were tasked with this. They would not have the knowledge to restore a colossus. Such makers are exceedingly rare. Most were lost to the Grey. Merrix d’Cannith is one of the few alive that have seen their creation."

"Then there is the matter of materials. This will take several weeks to gather. Soarwood is so extremely rare."

She now addresses Vice, "Yes, I believe there is need to worry. We searched for those lost, but only found two bodies. John and Jeremiah. Robart and Engel are still missing and presumed captured."

Lastly, the Lady looks to Gzizmix, "Mr. Famber, you have been very quiet. Have you anything you wish to add?"
OOC:
Excellent post Majunior! Take a point of inspiration.

My primary concern is that Cyre be allowed to be independent and not be misused as a weapon. I am glad your intent is inline with this. However I do recognize the difficulty this puts you in.

I suggest a guardianship be established.
Someone, perhaps Earic or an independent organization, should take custody of Cyre until she can learn to manage for own affairs, if that is even possible. As you have invested heavily into Cyre's welfare already and are willing to help restore her then I would suggest Cyre, under the council of her guardian, form a contact to work off her debt. This would help alleviate the burden you have incurred and teach Cyre how she can operate in society.

Lady d’Cannith
"What a fascinating concept, Mr. Famber. An organization may be difficult to arrange. However, is this something you would be interested in, Earic?"

Earic Finnini
Earic sits in stunned silence for a moment at Gzizmix’s suggestion. "Well, I… I don’t know. I did plan to stay in New Cyre for now. It would be an honour if that is your desire, my Lady. I believe Gzizmix and I are likeminded in Cyre’s future.", Earic says with a nod to Gzizmix.

Lady d’Cannith
"There’s no need for rushed decisions. We are safe for now and have much to decide. This should be a moment of celebration! I would very much like to meet this warforged that has won the hearts of yours so quickly."
OOC:
Would anyone like to make Cyre’s introduction to the Lady?
Aug 31, 2023 11:03 pm
With the party largely in agreement at this point, 37 will lead them on a now-familiar path. Entering the Captain's quarters where Cyre's face resides, 37 will step to the side.

"Lady d'Cannith, this is Cyre ir'Wynarn. Cyre, this is Lady d'Cannith of the namesake house."

Whatever each of them says next is far more important than anything I could add. 37 simply observes.
Sep 3, 2023 5:07 am
Lady d’Cannith
"Thank you, Mr. 37. It is a pleasure to meet you, Cyre ir’Wynern."

Cyre ir’Wynarn
"House d’Cannith were my makers. It is an honour to meet you, my Lady."

The two converse for a long while. Cyre ever the innocent delights in sharing her story once more. Lady Rayna d’Cannith shares the short history of New Cyre. Cyre shares in the Lady’s grief over the destruction of their nation to the Mourning. She mentions the idea of Earic being a guardian to Cyre. The colossus sounds happy with idea, "So he would be my new commander?", she asks.

"Not quite, Miss ir’Wynarn. We can talk more about it later.", the Lady replies.

Shortly thereafter, the Lady invites your group back to her manor. On the trip there, you are greeted by a city alight with excitement. Word of your exploits travels fast and your armed escort back to d’Cannith manor draws a lot of attention.

Once there, the guards take up posts around the manor and the Lady escorts you back to the meeting chambers upstairs. Once everyone is settled in and you have your privacy with the Lady, she releases a deep sigh. "You have no idea what this will mean for our city, Gentlemen. Earic’s research and your bravery will lead to incredible things.", she says gratefully. "I, unfortunately, am needed by Prince Oargev. He has called a meeting of the houses to discuss Cyre. He needs to be made aware of her situation. For your efforts, I would like to offer you one hundred platinum each."
OOC:
Sorry for the delay. Family camping trip this weekend. Let me know if there was anything you wished to do on the trip back to the manor, if you’re good with her offer, etc. The rest of the day will be yours. Let me know what you would like to do after.

Not ever seeing a platinum in person before, Vice will show remarkable restraint and not jump at the offer. Besides, there may be strings attached.
OOC:
no problem, I'm also enjoying a break this (US) holiday weekend

No matter how hard he tries, Kleber can't help but let his eyes widen at the sum of money.

"An all-Houses meeting, huh? It was too much to hope that things would stay the same after this. I just hope I don't get caught in the crossfire." he says half-heartedly, the ranger's his mind stuck on the words one hundred platinum.

Other than better armor Kleber doesn't even know where to start spending it.
OOC:
Have a nice trip!

37 did promise to try and stay with Cyre, so unless he is told he must accompany the Lady, he will stay with the other warforged.

Gzizmix will visit the local temple district and library to look up any available information on aberrant or colossus warforged. If one of present he will visit a temple of Aureon. For some quiet prayer.
Sep 5, 2023 7:16 am
The Lady excuses 37 to remain with Cyre. Cyre is thankful not to be left alone and chats with 37 as they have in the past few days. She mentions with sadness the removal of the soldiers from her hold. She hopes they have proper burials.

At the manor, the Lady d’Cannith presents each of the remaining team with a surprisingly small chest containing a row of one hundred, neatly packed, white metal coins. Shortly after, Rayna d’Cannith excuses herself and suggests visiting the city. You notice Earic sitting quietly at the table in deep thought with a mixture of joy and exhaustion. He makes a comment on how long he’s searched and thanks the four of you, "I suggest we meet tomorrow morning at the inn. Enjoy the celebration if you can." and then also excuses himself.

Meanwhile, the lady sends a messenger with the same chest and with a personal message of thanks. Earic later returns to join 37 and Cyre.

Gzizmix starts with the temple of the Silver Flame where Earic’s passageway led. There, cleric Geerlof gives him directions to a gnome district with a temple dedicated to Aureon. He also recommends their library may be of help. A short while later, Gzizmix arrives at a modest sized temple with the sovereign host emblem above the entrance and a blue dragon emblazoned on its doors. Inside a gnome cleric named Jorkas Pebblewander greets you.

He shows you to the shrine for prayer and the library for research.

Roll me an investigation check to look for tomes on warforged.

Let me know if there’s anything the rest of you would like to do.

Now that Kleber has enough funds, he can finally buy that half-plate he's been dreaming about. He decides to check Mr. Flintbeard's shop beneath Earic's home for it. With luck telling how he helped Earic with the kidnappers twice will get the dwarf to offer some discounts.

After that, Kleber will check on the Silver Flames priest. He needs to make sure that the Khyber spawn from his dreams didn't mess with his mind or body after dispelling the tracking magic.
