Chuck definitely gets the dog-lizard's attention! It throws itself off Joe's face and starts trying to eat Chuck's arm.

Rolls

Standard harm - (d6)

(3) = 3

OOC:
I can't see the other character sheets, but make sure to subtract Armor (1) from damage if you have any.
Janus pivots behind the lizard-dog as it chews on Chuck's arm, and then crushes the butt of his shotgun into the back of its neck, trying to hit that spot where the spine meets the skull, if he can target that on a creature with such anatomy.
OOC:
Hoping to use Chuck's delicious arm as a distraction, to give Janus time to target as a potential +1 bonus. *after roll, it won't make a difference. :(

Rolls

Prowess +0 (maybe +1 if at an advantage) - (2d6)

(23) = 5

Something about dog-sized slams into the back of Janus' thighs with a steel-toothed bite to the seat of his pants.

Rolls

Standard harm - (d6)

(5) = 5

Joe stumbles back as Chuck's arm distracts the dog "Damned pink world! I'm gonna turn you into a steak! " he howls and aims his rifle waiting to shoot the dog down once and for all.
OOC:
I don't think I have armor xD There's an aim action right?

OOC:
There is an aim action. I really hope it helps with the advantage die. Because the risk of shooting at something that's attached to your buddy's arm should be blatantly apparent.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, Chuck flails with his free arm to bludgeon the beast gnawing on his arm. He hammers away with the glock, pistol whipping the thing trying to knock it off.
OOC:
These things are going to take us all out! LOL

And another stellar roll I see. :(

at least that keeps my 2HP safe 🤣

Janus pivots and point-blank unloads his shotgun into the lizard-dog biting him.
OOC:
This feels almost automatic, or at least a great advantage-- a pump shotty vs. dog close range, pointing down. Unless Janus has horribly underestimated how dangerous these things are. Adjust accordingly.

Rolls

Prowess +2 for advantage of superior tech and position - (2d6+2)

(53) + 2 = 10

Feb 28, 2023 1:54 am
Janus' shotgun blasts the pink dog lizard in its face.

Rolls

Severe harm - (2d6)

(16) = 7

Feb 28, 2023 1:54 am
The pink dog lizard collapses and dies.
Feb 28, 2023 12:26 pm
Joe grunts as the pink dog lizard face is blown. It is unclear, however, if it is from the pain or frustration of not taking his shot.
Feb 28, 2023 1:35 pm
Starting to panic because this pink dog will not relent, Chuck slams it into the nearest bookshelf, trying to knock it off his arm.
OOC:
It seems silly to spend a strain at this point, but with +0 Prowess, it may make sense? If Chuck takes another big hit, he may be KO'd.

Rolls

Prowess + 0 + Strain - (3d6)

(254) = 11

Feb 28, 2023 2:55 pm
OOC:
I think that was the FIRST strain you spent, so I unchecked one of the boxes on your character sheet.

Good choice.
The thing emits a shrill noise as its spine crushes against the bookshelf. It spasms and falls to the floor, twitching.

There is a moment to look around ...

One bloody mess of pink lizard dog thing. They bleed red. One other pink lizard dog that has stopped twitching and stopped breathing. Chuck must have hit its cervical spine just right.

A shelf of books with illegible writing on their spines. Spoken language seems to translate fine across the worlds, but writing not so much. Weird?

Everything stays still.

The Plumb continues to pull on Janus' neck, toward the doors where the pink fellow glanced in and withdrew.

I think Chuck should try patching everyone up? I know Joe got beat up pretty badly. Is that an insight roll? I don't know if he gets any kind of bonus for having first aid supplies? Actually, how does that work? Is it a one use thing?
Feb 28, 2023 9:08 pm
OOC:
The default rule is that you can "spend" a first aid kit to recover 1d6 hp when you rest. This is a rest. You have a first aid kit.

Let's make it more interesting. You can *just* spend the first aid kit and recover 1d6 hp. **Or**, you can spend the first aid kit and test Insight. 6- the kit is wasted, 7-9 you roll 1d6 to recover hp, 10+ you roll 2d6 to recover hp.

Looking at his arm, then glancing at Joe's face, Chuck decides to help Joe. While his arm is in bad shape, Joe looks much worse off. His time as a paramedic trained him to be able to quickly triage the wounded on a scene. "Ok, Joe. Let's take a minute and I'll see if I can patch you up a bit."

Chuck takes out the first aid kit and gets out the necessary things to hopefully stop the bleeding and get Joe patched up.
OOC:
Ok, option 2: Going to spend the first aid kit and test insight to see if it works. Am I understanding you correctly that the first aid kit is only lost if I roll 6-? If I succeed, then the kit is still good for another use?

Rolls

Insight +1 - (2d6+1)

(42) + 1 = 7

HP Recovered if Insight roll is 7-9 - (1d6)

(4) = 4

HP Recovered if Insight roll is 10+ - (2d6)

(33) = 6

The first aid kit is spent. Joe regains 4 health. I updated the sheet.
Mar 2, 2023 9:04 am
"Damned pinkland. I'm going to paint it a shade darker with the puppies' blood." he rants as he stays still, letting Chuck do his thing. It's not the most comfortable to have someone patching your face with what feels like fire, but Joe knows best, and trusting Chuck's medical skills is best.

While they work with the first aid kit, Janus takes a closer look at these beasts, thinking if the team encounters them again, the more we know about them the better.
OOC:
Any particular weaknesses of this animal? Are they big mastiff-like dogs, or more flighty coyote things?
Mar 3, 2023 4:20 pm
The critters are about fifty to sixty pounds in size, their limbs are shaped more like those of a lizard than a dog, which explains how they could cling so viciously to people. Their faces are formed around short and brutal jaws, like those of a bull dog rather than a coyote.
