"Administrative delay, captain." AJ says. Of course they’re late, between scolding from the Colonel, Richter disappearing to godknowswhere and pulling out a whole ammo foundry, and Enzo not keeping his mouth shut. Chacón’s teasing is least of her problems. She gives Enzo a hard glare, following up with a generous smack on the head as he passes her. "Won’t happen again."

She gestures for other members to file in the dropship, before climbing in herself. Strapping herself in, she clasps her hands together between her legs waiting for the ship to take off. She could feel the hum of the engines as the ship prepares for takeoff. Her gaze sweeps over her team, and she gives a small nod of encouragement, silently conveying her confidence in their abilities, determined to make this mission a success, despite the delay, and the team's obvious shortcomings.

Jomsviking says:
Richter had a pretty decent understanding of where the sight lines of the cameras in the Armory were. After signing for the cleanest EVA Suit, he skirted the slight lines and entered Charlie Teams section of the armory. He figured a few misplaced magazines wouldn't be missed. Carefully he grabbed the ones he could reach without stepping into the camera's line of sight and tucked them away into his armors webbing.

Turning around he entered the armory and as Corporal Jackson gave a rousing motivational speech he busied himself feeding the extra magazines into the portable ammunition foundry. When her speech was over he clapped a few times and then pulled the foundry out of the armory with a hand truck. Where had he acquired it was anyone's guess.

The Ass Chewing from Tornado was expected, they had been lollygagging their way through the motions, so they deserved it. Still Richter couldn't help but wince as he remembered the adage "there are old pilots, there are bold pilots, there are no old bold pilots" and to his chagrin he found himself at the mercy of a bold pilot.

Still he was serving a life sentence, or a death sentence as a Dominon Marine. He mostly ignored the ass chewing and spent the time loading and securing the ammo foundry into the drop pod. "C'mon apes file in, we got work to do, the Corps ain't paying us by the hour!"
Okay, since you already requested the portable ammo foundry, you have no Purchase Rolls left. So no EVA suit, which you do not need anyways as your basic combat armor is already a sealed environment suit, better than a regular EVA suit.
If you want to lift a few more ammo clips from the quartermaster's office that's going to be an Accuracy check (I'll be generous and not give you a Disadvantage on that since you apparently already know all the cameras' blind spots, but the quartermasters and his helpers might very well be watching...).
Finally, you need Foundry Reloads to refill your Foundry, neither of which is portable by foot. You'll need some vehicle to bring it around, which seeing you no longer have any Purchase Rolls left is highly unlikely, unless you're willing to spend your party's Glory Point for that...

"He is right, you know." Melena says to the pilot in passing. She enters after Enzo and finds her usual spot.

OOC:
I had no idea the EVA suit was a different suit of armor I was just writing generic descriptions for maximal effect.

"Owww..." Enzo whines, rubbing the back of his head.

As the quartermaster is puzzled, looking at Richter's requisition form, one of his helper spots him reaching over the counter trying to swipe a few clips of ammunition.

"Hey! What the hell are you doing!?" Shouts the helper, which makes the quartermaster notice what Richter was doing.

"Okay, get out of here before I call for security! I don't want to see you snooping around here again!"

Archer enters the craft. He doesn't take too much notice of the pilot's remarks. Of course, she was annoyed that she had to wait, but they had to prepare. Typical marine Corp planning.

He sits down next to the tall scientist and straps in. "So what do you think this signal is? My bet is some just old long defunct equipment with a solar panel that has been woken by a ray of sun." he says ready to expand his theory further with a lot of technical details if the audience is there.
Feb 15, 2023 9:46 pm
Melena turns around to the technician. "In other words, nothing a good kick can't take care of." This is exactly what she has thought herself. What else could it be, so close to home? Some rotten luck. Dispatched late and on a mission of little to no consequence.

The rookie marine turns back and asks noone in particular: "What do we know about this crater anyways? Nothing special about it, I guess. Just a big ol' surface missing dirt, right?"

Skye had arrived at the transport first and one time, as so ordered. She garb, gear, and accoutrements were immaculate as usual. She took mental notes from her seat as the others arrived, entered, and interacted with each other. She gave Jackson a cursory salute and double-checked the straps which secured her to the seat.

Delham was about to answer Archer's theory when Melena asked her question.

Mendeleev Crater is on the dark side of the moon..."

She then turns to Archer.

"...sorry honey, no suns' rays getting there..."

Then returns to debrief you of what she knows.

"The crater has a width of about 100km diameter and a depth of about 1km. the ground at the bottom of the crater is pretty much even, and pockmarked with a few more smaller crater. A good place to hide some illegal operation if you ask me. My money would be some smuggling operation. The signal came near the southern edge of the crater, so probably one of those smaller craters. Whoever's there, they clearly don't want to be noticed, but they done goofed up... Alright, hang on to your butts boys and girls, we're heading out!"

With this, as everyone has boarded the dropship, you leave the hangar. Jo "Tornado" Delham lives up to her reputation and can't help but mess with you a bit with some daring maneuvers, probably trying to see from what cloth you're cut from...

"I bet my next paycheck its the Greys."

Richter strapped in and there was a loud crunch over his microphone. He sounded eager, hopeful, and pumped enough to eat an entire crayon. Richter didn't seem to notice the bloodloss from his brain due to G-Forces. Much as one might expect from a crayon eater.

Enzo was about to answer, but was cut off by other conjectures. When the greys were brought up, he said, "I don't want to take that bet; I'm half afraid you might be -

Jesus Christ! No wonder they call you the Tornado! God, I might be sick!"

"Ha ha ha! Don't lose your lunch honey! Hey, at least the big guy seems to be having fun back there..."

AJ gives Skye a small nod, seeing she’s the first to strap in. "If it’s some old defunct equipment, they’d recognize the signal, don’t you think?" She says. However, encountering extraterrestrial life on their first mission, that would be rich.

The dropship lifts off and turns about in a few risky maneuvers. Athena doesn't like unnecessary risks while she's trying to focus on the mission, but she trusts that Delham knows what she's doing. She clasps her hands tightly in her lap and braces herself for the journey ahead.

"Yeah, prOBAAAably," Enzo starts, yelling half way through the word as ToRnAdO makes yet another sharp dive and just-as-sudden rise again. "Fuck, lady!" He snaps out.

"If it was old earth tech, they wouldn't be sending us out. This is some new tech or some alien tech."

"Course, you'd think if it was really important, they'd be sending out a more competent crew,"
Enzo follows up, eyeing Richter. "Prolly just sending us cause we're expendable."

Richter's face was obscured by the highly reflective visor on his helmet, the orange to blue gradient obscured any facial expression. The slight declination and turn of the head indicated Enzo had Richter's full attention. Richter, who emanated lethality said nothing. Just just kept that emotionless visor locked on Enzo as long as Enzo chose to hold contact.

Tornado starts flying low to the ground to avoid detection as you approach your destination, and eventually reach it. Tornado gracefully lands her dropship, a stark contrast from her daring maneuvers earlier.

"There we are. The Mendeleev Crater is about 1km that way."

She points to the north.

"Good luck guys."

"One Klick, roger."

Richter hops out first taking the point of the spear consulting the area map on his helmets heads up display for a path leading to a observation point that would allow for enfilade. Intending to establish a sector of dominance over the crater.

"Eye in the sky says bearing 020 will give us an OP on a ridgeline. With affordable egress into the crater and position for enfilading fire into the crater."

Skye regards AJ and nods, "Affirmative. It would not be cost-effective to devote the time, effort, and resources to retrieve old hardware."

"Later!" Melena raises a hand to the pilot and steps outside. Her hands wander to feel for her rifle - a subconscious move - while she scans her surroundings. She catches up to Richter and looks in the direction he indicates, before checking all other directions again.
The young marine, cool as she'd like to be, can't deny the excitement. Even if this turns out to be an uneventful first mission - it is a mission. Melena breathes in and out, in and out, pushes back the butterflies in her stomach, then focuses on the task at hand.
