Enzo checks the body and fails to find anything that would be evidently used to operate an airlock. Of course, we're talking about an alien being with an alien way of thinking... could there be something in there used to open the airlock?

"The pride of the Dominion. Stuck behind a door. This is so boring." Richter sighed disgusted at the "protocol" and "preservation" of the "hostage." All the while he relaxed out of thought trying to mentally picture how a grey, a humanoid like creature with humanlike hands might open a door. Without thought or feeling and purely on intuition Richter reached out and touched the airlock door. His only desire was to move through the door, and get back to killing.

"Ain't nothing here obvious, Corporal. Maybe we should have Richter blow a hole in the airlock?" Enzo says, after searching the body.
Mar 15, 2023 4:24 pm
@ Richter. You touch the door, running your hand along it to try and figure out how Greys would open them. At some point, as you run your fingers along the mid point of the door, you spot a light blink above your finger. Curious you run your hand back to this direction again, and there you see it again, a light blinking above your finger. There seems to be some sort of touch pad imbedded in the door itself. Now you just need to figure out the combination...

Richter trusts that all people are pretty much the same everywhere. Inputting what he is certain is the default password. Trusting that a species with opposable thumbs and ten digits would have almost identical convention he touched the first five symbols from left to right. 1-2-3-4-5.

"... we're so good at being bad. We'll destroy your planet if you ever get us mad. We're the space..." Richter was humming some kind of jingle to himself as he played with the pretty lights on the door.

AJ sighs heavily, knowing their plan of catching the Greys in surprise is going to shit one way or the other. "Stay alert, everyone. Keep your weapons at the ready."
Mar 15, 2023 5:03 pm
After trying and failing to figure out how the airlock opens, Archer concludes that it is impossible for them to operate the alien device. If he can't, none of them can.

At AJ's order, he readies his pistol.

Richter punches in the code he thinks might correspond to "1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5" and the airlock fails to open. Still, it doesn't seem to be raising any sort of alarm, so there's that... Perhaps that you've found something, your techies can take a better look and have a chance of figuring it out now.

Richter in frustration kicks the door. Like he would any door he was trying to breach he steps into the kick at the supposed locking mechanism, repeatedly driving his heel into it like a battering ram. "No bonus..." He kicks several more times. "Because... this... alien... door... is... the hardest... challenge... of our LIFE!" One final kick to the stupid door. "Ugh its like the door into Moria!"

AJ glares at Richter as he throws a tantrum. "Enough, Richter," she warns, "We don't have time for your tantrum. Get a hold of yourself and focus on the mission."

"Let's take a step back and figure this out before we destroy the entire airlock. We need to find another way in without alerting the Greys to our presence. Enzo, see if you can locate any weaknesses in the surrounding structure that we can exploit. Veillon, take a look again and see if Richter's attempt triggered anything."
Mar 17, 2023 6:54 pm
"No tantrums thrown Ma'am. Was attempting dynamic entry. Regrettably as you can see there was no effect." Richter was considerably more relaxed, though thoroughly demoralized by the impedance the door had become.

Observant to the proceeding with the door, Skye quietly takes a few mental notes for her eventual PSYCH evaluations.
Mar 19, 2023 9:58 pm
"Roger that" Archer Veillon replies to AJ order to try again. He moves pass Richter to get to the lock again.

"Alright, I still don't know how to operate it but maybe I'll be able to bypass it. Just give me a moment."
He puts away his pistol and pulls out a small electric tool kit. He holds op various tools to see if any would be of use with the airlock. He finds one that seems to do the job and starts to work on the alien technology.

Thanks to Richter's messing around with the airlock, it gave Archer a new angle of approach for this puzzle. He tries the "brute force" method of trying random combinations for a few minutes when the airlock finally activates. You feel a change in pressure, and finally the inside door opens and LASER! A beam hits Mrs. White squarely in the chest. As she gets up with a groan, indicating she is fine, you see who, or rather what shot her; an automated laser turret. Those clever bastards... Further in the habitat, you see a whirl of movements, Greys getting into position and putting on the environment suit helmet, as if getting ready for an accidental decompression any moment now...

First round of combat!

"Open fire," AJ says as the Greys come into view. "Also someone disable that fucking laser turret!"
Mar 21, 2023 8:35 pm
"Richter!" Melena growls loudly as she turns out from cover, goes down on one knee and leans to the right so she can aim inside the room. This is the time for the big guns! She targets the turret and if her bullets won't do much, the Grey closest to them. If she sees any useful cover inside the room, she dashes towards it getting a better position for the battle.

OOC:
A Fumble: You would lose your Glory Point had you not spend it, but I gain a Dread Point in exchange. I'll use it right away to have the nearest grey put on his environment suit right away, so that way, he'll be able to act this round.
A hail of bullets ricochet inside the relatively delicate habitat with all of them missing their mark, but luckily ending their trajectory in tables, cabinets, or other piece of grey equipment, avoiding an explosive decompression... That is until Enzo shot right through the delicate membrane of the habitat. you can feel the atmosphere leaking as loose debris starts flying every which way inside the habitat which causes Mr. Black to angrily shout "Will you idiots stop spraying at random like that! You're going to kill our charge! The habitat is now breached, he probably only has moments to live! I can't see him from here, he has to be further back, we must hurry and break through!"

Archer is still up...
