Sorry, last night ended up having some unexpected snowfall and bouts of power outage. I ended up sleeping it out to save phone battery.
Alrighty... nothing too complex or crazy, simple beginnings seem important to his character arc. No prophesy, no lunar event during his birth, just a farmer who was smarter than the others and left to try and make a better life for his family.
A young man of 19, Tannis isn't particularly large -- standing 5 foot, 9 inches, and weighing just 150 pounds. He has fairly short cropped brown hair, usually has some stubble or short facial hair, and slate grey eyes... and while slight of frame he is keen of mind and surprisingly resilient.
He was born to a family in a small farming village. His oldest brother joined the army. His next oldest brother (third born) has so far stayed home to work the family farm. His one older sister (second born) has also stayed home, primarily helping with the kids. Tannis is the fourth child. His next two younger brothers (fifth and sixth) try to help farm but more often than not get in the way, his younger sister (seventh born) is but a young child still, and his littlest brother (eigth) is but a baby.
Tannis was noticed by his school teacher due to his above average school performance, and after some discussion with his family and letters to the school, was later accepted at a school of magic where he began his studies in earnst.
The rest, as they say, is history.
