Session 2: Soul of Winter

As a far traveled merchant, Izuhn immediately identifies where the captain's cabin should be located. Moving carefully, he finds the door unlocked, and opens it slowly.

The loud creaking of the weathered door dwarfs all other sounds, anticipating a rough stone altar, the center piece inside the cabin. Strange markings cover the altar, mud cakes the floor around it and humanoid skulls mounted on wooden spikes ring the wall above.

The corners of this room are piled with garbage and debris, crudely cut wooden logs, smashed furniture, torn sacks, shattered crates, and small piles of dried seaweed. As you step inside, you notice the staircase that descends from the southeast corner, and an acrid odor that fills the air.

As Izuhn walks inside the room, he becomes suspicious that something other than a storm may have happened here. He focus his senses on the weave trying to detect any vestiges of magical activity. Agna stands by the door checking what the dwarf is doing. "Looks like this ship got a good shaking eh?" Fizel comments as he catches up with the orc.

Izuhn inspects the altar closely.

"What's that?" Fizel suddenly shouts, looking at something moving within the debris.

You barely have time to notice what he means when you see 4 amputated rotting hands craw out of the broken furniture, while a horrific warped humanoid with barnacles and coral encrusted on its scaly skin, slowly stands up from the web of seaweed on the other side of the room.

Izuhn is quick to react. As the creature slowly stumbles his way, the moon peeks from behind the dark clouds and a beam of light shines right on the twisted humanoid, it's skin melting into a watery substance. Fizel jumps away from the magical light as the hands crawl in everyone's direction, while Agna manages to escape their grip and takes a wooden chair leg to use as an improvised club.

A fish-like creature with webbed feet, hands and ears, and a finned tail comes up the stairs to check what is going on. Seeing you, it shouts something as it grabs a fishing spear, preparing to throw it.

Agna attempts to fight off the rotting hands which surround her, continuously trying to grab the orc and push her to the ground. Unable to keep them away, one of the hand manages to climb the orc's leg when she is distracted.Seeing the twisted humanoid melt under the moonlight, Izuhn quickly moves it to the fish like creature, blinding it just has the spear was thrown at Agna. Instead of the orc, the spear pierces one of the hands crawling to take advantage of the orc's weaker position. Stuck to the wooden plank, the hand pointless struggles to get itself free until it stops completely.
