Abandoned in a port city as a young kitten, Admiral was discovered by the notoriously cruel pirate captain, Ebzer Vyse, and raised aboard his ship, The Whisper. Though he was first brought aboard to catch the mice and rats that infested the ship’s hold, Admiral gradually rose in rank from ship’s cat to a full-fledged member of the crew and, eventually, first mate. When Ebzer died, he inherited both the ship and Ebzer’s sword- a magical (some say cursed) weapon allegedly given to the wicked pirate by the sea itself. Under Admiral’s command, The Whisper- now The Whisker- pursued whatever shiny treasure took the captain’s fancy, chasing down legends of buried treasure and magical relics for weeks to months at a time, often with very little success. The crew quickly became sick of their fickle new captain and the next time they made port, they took the ship and left without him, leaving him stranded and alone in a foreign land…

The gem on the pommel of Reaper:
Blue and red seem to swirl and morph when you look at it, as if fire and water are competing for superiority...or maybe trying to maintain a balance. It's hard to tell.

I'm imagining a sort of nasty, old cutlass-type thing. Something like this maybe, with the gem thing on the pommel?

If you happen to be inspired to do so, perhaps you could post a bit about Admiral's (former) crew...maybe some adventure Admiral had as their captain or even before. If you include Captain Ebzer, just approach it like he was Admiral's mentor in many ways, and was of course the Hexblade Warlock who originally had the pact with Reaper. But Admiral doesn't know much about Ebzer's origins or Reaper's. Keep that a mystery. Your input here, if you have time and are willing, will help the story if Admiral encounters his crew again in game. You can post any background story stuff here.

Sorry. That’s a bit more than a minor clarification since the blade is Admiral’s patron. I was thinking Reaver and accidentally typed Reaper.

The Whisper Whisker
An elegant 12-gun brig, built to be fast and agile so that it can better catch and corner its prey. Under Ebzer's command, the Whisper was one of the most feared ships on the Sea of Dread.
Notable crew members:
First mate - Tarron Aleanddare
A humourless half-elf with a short temper. He's a competent sailor and an even better swordsman, but he finds Admiral’s naivete irritating.
Quartermaster - The Quartermaster
An elderly human man. He’s been around so long that no one aboard the Whisker knows him as anything but ‘the Quartermaster’. Doesn’t speak much.
Surgeon/carpenter - Sherwood
A mean-spirited human man responsible for both repairing the ship and, in the most unfortunate circumstances, repairing the crew.
Cook - Dharzal
An orc who took to the seas after he was exiled from his tribe. He’s known Admiral since he was first brought aboard as a kitten and has a bit of a soft spot for him.
(Feel free to ignore or alter or add to this in any way you like. They’re just some vague notions I had :P)
