Weird thought...is there a way to tell for sure that the monsters that did this didn't xenomorph their way out of these bodies?

OOC:
You can always try a sort of "medicine/forensics" check...

Palari joins Gilcyne as they search around the hu. She looks for tracks leading into the hut from the doorway or window, for anything that came from among the sacks of black lotus, or from above from the roof.
OOC:
Palari tries to put together a picture of how Hannon was attacked. She will also search for any signs of a gate or portal to another plane. It is an Awareness roll against WIS on 2 die, the same skill that prevents her being surprised.

OOC:
Sadly, no 5+ has been rolled on any individual dice, so no success...
If there were presences of gates or portal to another world nearby, Palari fails to find any traces of them...

"I cannot see how this Hannon was attacked with such violence, as with the other villagers, and no one awoke to shout for help," Palari comments to the others. "They would have needed to black out completely, which raises the question of why those other villagers did not get killed as well. I suggest we try to find out what did this, so we can know who our enemy is, as we will need to stay here till morning."

Anyone else is searching/investigating/tracking/etc.?

Gilcyne sets to trying to follow the path of the carnage. Seeing if there is evidence of where the attackers entered and where they went when they left.

Elyshaeba accompanies Gilcyne to give light to better see what can be seen.

"This place is starting to bother me more than ever. The creature, one or many I cannot tell, seem to have just appeared, committed this carnage and vanished into thin air. Summoned demons like I said. No sign of who summoned them. We should leave in case they are still around. Let's camp elsewhere and get to town as quickly as possible."
Jul 2, 2023 6:37 pm
OOC:
I think it is now nighttime? Not sure I like the sound of camping outside the town, in the bush. But if there is enough daylight left I am all for trying to make it to the town.
Jul 2, 2023 7:01 pm
OOC:
Definitely nighttime. Not late into the night, the sun sat at around the time you spotted Hannon's place.

"Well, whatever we're doing, let's get on with it. Demons, lotus monsters, what-the-hell-ever..." Glump blurts out in his obvious frustration at the situation.
Jul 4, 2023 6:16 pm
Valmara continues to eye the two seeming survivors of the slaughter suspiciously. "WE..." And she stresses we. "..Should move away from this place and make camp somewhere out there, if necessary."
Jul 4, 2023 6:50 pm
"I'll go scout a place and come back when I find something."

Gilcyne hustles to the edge of the village and looks for some place to camp. Her ideal spot would be a place where their fire won't be seen from the lotus-eater village, but they can keep an eye on any activity. Perhaps a slight hill or hollow they can camp behind or in and she can be a lookout.

Survival perhaps? - (2d6)

You make your way back to the two survivors who are easy to find as they're lighting their place with a few candles. You find them giggling like idiots...

"Hey, hey, hey... I got another one..."

"W-what?"

"Turnip!"

"Pfffrrrttt!"

"Oh, hey, you're back quickly. Did you managed to find Hannon's place? Oh, did you brought more black lotus?"

At Valmara's suggestion, they seem a bit confused at first...

"Leave? Why... Oh... the dead bodies... right..."

Gylcine will then start looking for a place to camp out (probably with Elyshaeba's lantern help) will find a suitable place in about 30-45 minutes. What looks to be like an old abandoned farmhouse some distance away from the village which looks like it can provide decent shelter, decent cover, as well as being somewhat defensible.

OOC:
that works too.
Glicyne leads the others to the farmhouse.

"Lets keep the light hidden as much as possible, but we should be safe here tonight."
Jul 6, 2023 2:50 pm
OOC:
Just wondering if the party thinks it is worth doing an experiment with the 2 villagers? Let one of them have access to the lotus, but not the other. That way we can see if that one does transform during the night, and it will only be one of them to deal with?

Whatever we decide during her shift keeping watch Palari is going to keep as much of an eye on both of the 2 villagers as she will on anything outdoors

Jul 6, 2023 9:01 pm
OOC:
Gilcyne would not be in favor of that plan, BUT i the player fully endorse that plan. She would see it as too dangerous out here in the wild, but I am extremely curious.
Jul 6, 2023 10:29 pm
OOC:
@kalajel: Can Palari try WIS or CHA roll to persuade Gilcyne and the others to take a risk on her plan?
When they are settled in the farmhouse, and the two villagers are out of earshot, Palaris asks the others, "How would you feel about finding out if our two guests have any involvement in the villagers deaths? A simple test of their wills is all we need. We can introduce the lotus seeds into one of their drinks, or meal, and I suggest the man. A small, safe, dosage of the seeds. Then as the night progresses we keep a watch on them to see if there is any affect? What do you say? There is no threat or risk?"

Palari does not feel comfortable lying to the others, but she is determined to find out what creature attacked this village and killed those innocents.
