Session 3: Frost and Fear in Fireshear

You quickly decide to follow the elemental creature to its hiding place, running past the row of burning houses until you arrive to the one which looks less affected by the surroundings chaos. As you approach, you have the strange feeling that the icicles turned to observe you as the cracking of fire slows down behind you.

A quick check shows that the door is unlocked...

As you reach for the door, you hear the cracking on ice about you. Before you can open it, three of the icicles suddenly break free and fall on you but... they never hit the snowed ground. Instead they burst into a heavy winter fog as little winged ice creatures flight out of them with a mischievous laughter

Having fallen for the elemental's tricks before, you were more careful this time. Despite being more attentive, Agna and Izuhn were still caught unprepared by the ice trap. However, Adaia's understanding of the elemental magic allowed her to quickly react, freezing the smoke into fine snow powder. Unimpeded, Izuzh quickly smashes one of the mephits with his axe. Seeing one of them busting into small shards of ice and the big intimidating orc shouting her way to them, the rest of the mephits flight away.

As you open the door, you hear the sudden roaring of fire and you see the smoke filled with strange blue and crimson sparks blowing out the chimney where the smoke mephit hid. Inside the house, you can see a stout dwarf with light gray skin and shock-white hair working a bellows and occasionally throwing small cups of colorful powder into the flames of a furnace, too focused on his task to notice any of you.

After a few failed attempts to get the dwarf's attention, Agna steps him and challenges the smith. He stops, confused, looking at the three unexpected guests. "Who are you? Just walking in and disrupting my work!" he grabs a strange of metal and places it in the furnace. "What's this talk about the neighborhood burning down? That is very sad but you should take it to whoever is in charge now. Can't you see I'm in the middle of something?" he takes the metal piece out of the fire and inspects it for a moment before putting it back.

The dwarf stops as soon as Agna mentions putting out the fire. "Are you crazy lady? Why... just why would y...? What's wrong with you?" he starts ranting about how his work is of utmost importance to all Faerûn and how she's the lunatic. After awhile, he stops to take a breath and looks to Izuhn. "Griggle Duskloch yes. You're here to help? Good. Why don't you start by taking the orc away"

"A delivery?" Griggle looks at Izuhn curiously. "Who's it from?" he asks mostly ignoring the Adaia but, noticing the dwarf's silence he decides to explain.

"What does it look like I'm doing? Melting, forging, smithing. Trying to figure out a way to smelt raw adamantine easy. Easy metal, cheaper metal, better equipment, safer people! See the logic elf?" He stops to check if Adaia if following, but not enough to let her reply. "Important research! I would bet my sweet old mom elemental magic will do the trick... just need to figure out how to apply this energy ..."
