Aiwë strikes at the fleeing swordsman, landing a solid blow but not stopping him. As the turmoil around her ceases, she drops her club and resets her nose with a nauseating sound.

She stalks over to Stella and looks at her with intense eyes and rigid muscles. It looks like Shelur has a great deal of fight left—and she might—but Stella received enough training from the Cagebreaker healer Chaide to know this is what an orc looks like right before they drop.

"My nose, Stella," Aiwë near-growls through the blood pouring down her face. "Is it straight?"

Stella takes the hit from the magic missile and grits her teeth at the sharp pain.

"Noctalia!" she calls to her owl, then scowls, realizing the bird had been caught in the blast.

Why was the mage fleeing into the burning smithy? Stella looks between the house and the smithy, both in flames. Taerom could sleep somewhere else. The smithy was his real home. From the blood on the swordmen's swords, there might be apprentices left in the building, too.

She ignores Awie's question. "Taerom! is there anyone else inside?" However he answers, she follows after Dieter, either to help take out the mage, put out flames with ice, or find people she could save.

If I can't Hide and Search at the same time, Stella prioritizes Searching.

Aiwë grunts as Stella runs off. She beats her chest a couple times and murmurs a chant to herself. She rolls her shoulders and picks up her club, then takes over the prisoner.

"Talk," she orders, active bleeding ceased, but face still a mess.

Heat.

Sweat, dirt, and blood streak down Dieter's face and body as he tries to spot the fleeing wizard. Between the black smoke and dancing flames it's hard to see much of anything. He nearly trips over the body of one of the apprentice smiths; the poor fellow looks to have been run through by one of the swordsmen.

Noting that the ceiling above the front door has collapsed, blocking that way out, Dieter continues his search of the warehouse as quietly and quickly as possible.

It's when he sneaks past a toppled, flaming cabinet that he feels something grab his ankle!

"Pl... please... h-hel...p."

One of the smiths is trapped under the cabinet. Blood seeps from a vicious head wound. With strength nearly gone, the man's feeble hand releases Dieter's boot.
OOC:
Okay, choice is Dieter's: You can pause to help the trapped smith (probably an Athletics check?), or keep searching for the wizard (probably a Perception check).

Dieter can’t help the man, he isn’t a doctor but he can secure the area. He holds a finger to his lips and scans for the threat.

The master smith stares at the burning smithy, letting his makeshift weapon fall to the ground. At Stella's question, he rubs soot out of his eyes. "The apprentices were meant to have gone home hours ago. A couple of them stayed late, to make up for lost time today..."

Stella's brave steps toward the smithy seem to spur the man to action. "Careful, Stella! The place, it comes down at any moment. Let me go in first, to lead the way. Please."

Stella looks at the flames and nods. There was no saving this building now, but Taerom could fare better in flames than she could, even with magic to protect her.

As he approaches, she pours water from her waterskin onto a strip of cloth from her healer's kit and wraps it over her nose and mouth to help shield her from smoke. She offers one to him, in case his heat resistance doesn't carry over to smoke resistance.

The apprentice tries to speak, but ends up coughing instead. He closes his eyes in resignation.

Even through the smoke and fire Dieter spies his quarry. The wizard is in the far corner of the smithy, bare hands scrabbling at the wooden walls in mindless desperation. He's still under the effects of Aiwe's fear spell.

He'll have to pick his way across the room carefully to avoid flaming wreckage, but Dieter thinks he can close the distance safely and quickly if pushes himself.

Alrighty! If you go after the wizard, roll your choice of Athletics or Acrobatics, or something else you can think of!

If the wizard goes down then dieter will immediately try and rescue the smith. If possible I would elect for non lethal damage.

Taerom steps into the smithy. The flames and smoke don't seem to harm him. As the heat rises, Stella can see glowing patterns form on Taerom's shirtless back and spread across his shoulders and arms. Whatever his protections against fire, he seems still blinded by the thick smoke.

"Do you see anyone, Stella? Do you see Dieter, or one of mine?"

Stella can make a Perception check if she wants, or another skill or spell or something if she thinks it will be helpful.

Dieter tears the shield off his arm, no doubt ruining the straps and buckles, but then magical bow in his hands sings true. His two arrows whiz through the air. The first one takes the mage in the back, who gasps a lungful of smoke and sinks against the corner as he coughs. The second pierces his chest, and that's the end of this caster of fireballs.

As Dieter turns to help the smith, there's a groan of wood from above as a portion of the ceiling comes crashing down.

Combining these two narrative threads! Stella and Dieter are now unified in timey-wimeyness.
Stella's wet cloth helps considerably with her breathing amid the smoke, and with clear presence of mind she sees motion a couple dozen feet to her right. Part of the ceiling caves in there, and she sees Dieter dodge cleanly to one side as a heavy beam nearly crushes him.

Dieter's reflexes save him. As he regains his bearings, he notes that the fallen ceiling missed the trapped smith by mere inches. The man's eyelids flicker.

Still shrouded in a starry, indigo form, Stella rushes over, then her eyes widen seeing the man. "Move the wreckage!" she shouts to Dieter and Taerom, muffled. She kneels down, quickly wiping away blood and applying a salve-covered bandage to the smith's head, then wraps her remaining wet cloth over his nose and mouth.

(Healer. Smith regains 10 HP +1 per Hit Die he has.)

Though he's just endured hard-hitting blades and spells, Dieter shows no sign of faltering. He's about to grab part of the flaming cabinet to lift it off the fallen smith, when Taerom taps him on the shoulder. "Let me lift where the fire is worst. You grab that side." Working together, they move the dangerous cabinet safely off of the apprentice, and set the injured man onto Dieter's tower shield.

Meanwhile, Stella's ministrations are quick, efficient, and effective. She's sure the smith will survive his wounds, so long as they get him out of this place and she can continue work on him.

Dieter pulls the makeshift shield-sled, Taerom moves aside burning debris that has fallen between them and the back wall, and Stella cleverly uses her magic to protect the group from any further incidents... and then they are out of the burning building and into the fresh, clean air!

"I'm glad you told me that," Shelur says, completely void of inflection or emotion. "I'm relieved to hear you only intended to come and kill people." She steps closer. Her expression and tone does not change. "Tell me everything about how you came to know Tranzig and be hired."
