Vidar attacks the skeleton on the dry ground figuring the one climbing put will take longer to be ready to attack

Rolls

Attack - (1d20)

(2) = 2

Damage axe - (1d8)

(4) = 4

Responding with swift determination, Vidar's battle axe cleaves through the air with a resounding arc. The blade connects with the first skeleton's brittle form, inflicting a powerful blow that sends bone fragments scattering across the chamber. It staggers as it tries to rise.

Even as the first skeleton falters, the second skeleton remains determined. Water cascades from its bony form as it inches closer to standing position.

Vidar has time to act once more before either skeleton is ready to attack.
OOC:
In this system, attacks always land. You only need to roll a d20 if your performing a special action that requires a save.
Aug 22, 2023 12:39 am
Seeing that the skeleton has not gone down he swings again.

Rolls

Damage axe - (1d8)

(1) = 1

Aug 22, 2023 2:59 am
His attack inflicts further damage, leaving the skeleton visibly weakened as it readies its spear to strike.

The second skeleton, having finished getting out of the water, pulls back its spear to strike.
OOC:
Both skeletons are attacking with spears for d6 damage. You can choose to react before each strikes, but you’ll need to react to both attacks separately. Dodge is a DEX save to avoid all damage. Performing that action adds 1 fatigue to your inventory. Parry is a STR save to avoid all damage and then you make an immediate attack with damage advantage. However, if you fail the save the attacker has damage advantage against you. You can always choose to just take the damage.
Aug 22, 2023 5:23 pm
OOC:
Since this is new, I am going to take a chance and try to parry both attacks. the first set will be on the one I already attacked.
Vidar seeing himself outnumbered seeks to parry the incoming attacks and put down the first one at least so he can focus on the second one.

As the first skeleton's attack unfolds with uncanny speed, Vidar attempts to parry the strike, his battle axe raised in a swift defensive motion. However, the calculated precision of the skeleton's assault proves to be more than he anticipated. The spear finds its mark.
OOC:

Vidar fails the first parry STR save. The skeleton rolls 2d6 and chooses the higher of the two for damage

Rolls

Spear Damage 1 - (d6)

(4) = 4

Spear Damage 2 - (D6)

(2) = 2

Aug 22, 2023 6:56 pm
The impact sends a jolt of pain through Vidar's form as the spear pierces his defenses.
OOC:
He takes 4 damage dropping his resilience from 5 to 1.
In a split-second decision, Vidar reacts to the approaching watery skeleton behind him. His instincts take over as he whirls around, using his battle axe to parry the incoming strike with deft precision.

With the watery skeleton momentarily thwarted, Vidar seizes the opportunity to launch a powerful strike. His battle axe cleaves through the air, landing with a bone-rattling impact on the skeleton's form. The force of the blow inflicts substantial damage. Despite the intensity of the strike, the skeleton still stands.

Both skeletons are still standing, but both are significantly damaged.
OOC:
Since the first parry failed, I used the two damage rolls you rolled for his second attack and chose the highest. Vidar dealt 6 damage to the second skeleton.

Vidar’s action is next. He can attack either skeleton, or perform any other reasonable action.

Knowing he is on his last legs but so are the skeletons he decides to go all out on the first hoping to drop it and parry the second hoping it does not hit.
OOC:
Guess i am in trouble with another bad parry roll.

Vidar's axe comes crashing down on the first skeleton, its impact causing the brittle bones to crumble into a pile on the chamber floor."
OOC:
Skeletons reanimate on a roll of 1 on a d12.
As the battle rages on, Vidar's attempts at defense continue. However, when faced with the relentless assault of the remaining skeleton, his efforts falter. Despite his swift reaction and raised battle axe, the calculated strike of the skeleton proves too precise to counter.

Rolls

Reanimate - (d12)

(6) = 6

Spear attack dmg - 2 - (d6)

The impact sends a jarring shock through Vidar's form.
OOC:
Vidar’s takes 6 damage. His resilience drops from 1 to 0. The remaining gets taken from his STR. It drops from 14 to 9.

He’s now taking critical damage. He needs to make a STR save with his current STR at 9. If he succeeds he’s still in the fight.

The force of the blow shatters the skeleton's form, its bones splintering and breaking under the immense power of the attack.

The air is thick with the echo of his triumph.

In the wake of his fierce blow, the chamber falls into an eerie stillness. The remnants of the once-menacing skeletons lie scattered across the floor. Among the scattered bones the discarded spears form a somber juxtaposition, a silent tribute to the battle that just transpired.

Beside him, the murky pool's secrets remain hidden, its waters too clouded to discern what lies beneath.

To the north, a corridor that bends toward the west, yet the bend is littered with a handful of arrows.

To the south, the familiar bonfire corridor.
OOC:

Ash spear (d6, 20’, 1 inventory): Ash wood shaft fitted with sharpened iron head, used for thrusting or throwing. Allows Vidar to use thrust ability.

Thrust (spear, 1 fatigue): Lunge forward to extend the range of your weapon and strike targets up to 10 feet away.

Vidar’s resilience will stay at 0 and STR 9 until he rests at a bonfire. That will fully recover both stats, however, the skeletons will reset back to their starting positions in the room if he does.

OOC:
And the phrase "death does not come easy for Vidar" is evidently very true.
Aug 25, 2023 9:44 pm
Vidar takes a spear and tacks a drink of mead. Still wishing to investigate he carefully heads over to the pool and checks it out being careful
to note any dangers.
OOC:
Two questions. if I take the weapons of the skeletons and then go to the bonfire. Do they have the weapons again when if I go back into the room?
Can you throw spears for use as a distance weapon?
Aug 26, 2023 1:25 am
The familiar taste of the mead offers a brief respite, a moment of solace amid the shadows of the chamber.

He approaches the pool with caution and studies the murky depths with a discerning eye. The surface ripples slightly, the condensation trickling down into the pool, creating soft echoes of sound.

His careful examination reveals little clarity in the water. The murkiness conceals any secrets the pool may hold. Despite his scrutiny, no immediate threats reveal themselves, and the pool's tranquility seems undisturbed.
OOC:

Vidar’s resilience is restored back to 5.

The skeleton’s do come back with spears even if you take them. They also reset to their starting positions so you would be able to sneak past, attack them before they animate, or any other ideas you would want to try.

You can throw the spears as a weapon for d6 damage at a 20 foot range.
Aug 27, 2023 3:25 am
Knowing he is not far from a fire, He goes and investigates the water by first putting a spear into it to try and determine its depth.
Aug 27, 2023 1:33 pm
The spear is approximately 10 feet in length. Vidar extends it to its maximum reach, allowing the tip to make contact with the pool's bottom. As he maneuvers the spear within the pool, there is a palpable sense of something solid yet mobile at the bottom.
Aug 27, 2023 4:15 pm
Not wanting to press his luck he decides to head north and collect the arrows and both spears.
