"It may be wise if you were to return home." Etch says, standing over the boy but staring past him into the dark tunnel ahead, "The previous encounter has left me in need of some minor repairs. It would be advantageous to rest a moment and allow me to make adjustments." The construct says to no one in particular.

"Unfortunately, seeing in the dark is not one of the things I am apt at." Colten mused as he sat down by the entrance of the tunnel, sheathing his blade with a flourish. The nobleman takes a sip from his wineskin, now filled with the best Phadalin brew.

Snaming my fingers repeatedly and looking at them with confusion. Well I kept missing in that last fight. Humm. Well men... looking over to Etch and killing bot. I'm guessing we need a breather? You all did fine work.

"I am called Etch." It sits down lays its blade across its lap, and retrieves a curiously small pair of pliers from a pouch at its side. It then begins to systematically adjust the plating where the bandit had successfully dislodged it with his sword.

Attempting a short rest!

"Well, I guess I can let you guys handle it from here!" Carp says with all of the false bravado he can muster before running as fast as he can back towards his mother's farm. Peering into the tunnel you can just make out a faint light source quite some distance away. While not enough to actually light the tunnel in a useable manner it does give those that lack the ability to see in the dark a reference as you move forward.

One hundred feet later you find yourselves at the entrance of a large natural cavern. The cold breeze within this area carries the faint scent of decaying flesh. A crevasses divides the cavern and is flanked by two rough stone columns that support the twenty foot high ceiling. Two arched wooded bridges span the chasm.

Etch steps into the chamber and looks around, "If this is were humans dwell, they too will not be able to see in the dark."

His rage wearing off and his body overcome with shivers, Cori looks down at his still bloody hands.

What just happened, what did I do this time?

Looking up, he realizes that his companions have started to move on without him and breaks into a sprint to follow.

While his companions rest at the mouth of the tunnel, the halfling works with partial success to clean off his bloody axe and hands.

Forgot to add in the description above that the cavern is well lit with oil lamps on the walls around the perimeter.

"Hmm, what's that smell?" Colten sniffed audibly as the party entered the cave.

Continuing into the cavern?
As far as Colten can determine the smell is rotting flesh.
Oct 21, 2016 12:12 am
Etch strides confidently up to the bridge, stopping to examine it and determine if it will support its weight.
Oct 21, 2016 12:15 am
Colten cautiously looks around the cavern for the source of the rotten smell.

@Etch - Give me a Investigation check while inspecting the bridge.
@Colten - The smell seems to be coming from the bottom of the crevasse that runs through the cavern. The crevasse is about 20 feet deep but the rough walls look easily enough to climb if you're so inclined.

Colten takes a torch from one of the walls to look down the crevice.

Feeling better after the rest, Cori continues into the cavern and peers into the crevasse with Colton.

Do you think I should climb down and take a look?

Ha, lad if you climb down you might be contributing to the smell. Best not. Looking around I find a small stone on the ground and cast light on it. Best we keep our distance, and still trying to gander on whats down there. Tossing the enchanted stone down the crevasse.

The bridge, which consists of wooden planks laid across a couple of support beams, appears to be perfectly safe. There are no railings, so a bit of caution might be in order when crossing.

As Etch examines the bridge the rest of you peer into the crevasse just to the south. The light from the oil lamps don't show much detail as to what's at the bottom but Delg's lighted stone is another matter. Landing with a crunch among a heap of well gnawed and brittle bones the light source reveals a relatively fresh half eaten body.
Oct 22, 2016 1:59 am
"It would be unsavory to eat that, even for ruffians. Be wary of other creatures." Colten said, indicating the half-eating corpse of whatever it was down the chasm. With that, he nobleman waltzes across the wooden bridge, keeping an eye out for danger, man-made or otherwise.
