Haitith's first strike is enough to bring the effigy crashing down to several unconnected pieces. You are quickly able to stabilize Igbork. Grom is able to identify the magical energy of the apaku will be calm for now. It will take a day to gather enough energy to animate anymore swords. You are also able to spend two hours to learn the animate object ritual.
OOC:
It had 19 AC and 9 hp left. We can rp a little. I have gotten a frozen shoulder and can only use my non dominant arm so everything takes a little longer. But will try yo update the hex map and get us going again later in the week.
Feb 27, 2024 5:25 pm
Grom jigs and cheers as Haitith's strike takes down the effigy, "Well done, wee eidolon, a mighty strike indeed! Artesia, if you have Igbork under control, I'll study this strange font of magic and see what I can learn"
OOC:
Grom, will indeed, spend that brace of hours to learn the ritual
Feb 28, 2024 3:32 am
Haitith smiles a toothy grin at Grom. "It was no match for me...us. A simple foe to destroy!" the eidolon says, in spite of the severely-pained connection currently joining him and Koram.

Koram approaches Haitith and pats his neck, giving him a slight scratch behind the ear. "You did well," he says.

He sees Igbork rising from the ground. "You alright, brother?"
OOC:
After making sure everything is clear and Igbork is ok, Koram will also spend the time to study/learn the ritual.

@Furmyr hope your arm feels better soon!

Yes... I think... this magic was very strong. COnfused my mind but now I'm good Igbork stammers

He too decides to learn the ritual and decides to try to find out what this effigy was and who built it.

Igbork cannot recall what the effigy could be either. You think it just too old.

You also find a cold iron shield that the effigy rested upon.
OOC:
Forgot that there was a shield, don't think any of you uses shields. But could be melted down in the future. The Broken Tusks don't really have the set up for forging a new weapon or armor with the ore though.

After several uneventful days of travel you see some standing stones in the distance. While not as large as the biggest stones in Rockloom, they still rise tall as a mammoth and are each wide enough that it would take three or four people to reach around even one.

Coming closer you see that there's a couple of barrows to the north of the standing stones and between the standing stones and the barrow is a stone boulder carved to an almost perfect circle. From a distance it almost looks like a face. Lounging near the standing stones stands a large creature that looks almost like an oversized rodent in a hard carpace shell.
OOC:
To recognize the creature would take a DC20 Nature check. You are still a bit off and can avoid the place entirely if wanted.

OOC:
I know what it is! Thanks, paleontology studies! That being said, Artesia has no idea.
Artesia stops in her tracks, trying to identify the creature. "It looks like a giant armadillo."

OOC:
Yeah, you're probably right LOL

Koram studies the creature from a distance. "That's surely what it is," he says, "I doubt its dangerous. Let's look closer."

As you approach and get within 60 feet, the creature stands up and makes a growling sound at you. It seems to be protective of the area.

You can also tell that the circular carving is another apaku.
Mar 18, 2024 11:41 pm
Koram holds his hands up, "We mean you no harm!" he calls to it. He stops moving closer and looks to the others.

"Perhaps its best to leave the thing alone? We're clearly intruding...this must be its home."
OOC:
When you say 'large' is that to mean this armadillo type thing is a 'large creature' in game terms? so, filling a 10ftx10ft area?
Mar 19, 2024 2:39 pm
OOC:
That is correct, the size of 10 x 10 feet square. It is the size of a large horse. You can give me a Survival DC 15 Survival check.

Koram considers the creature.

The creature seems very protective of the standing stones and if you give it a wide berth, you should be able to explore the rest.
Mar 21, 2024 2:20 am
Koram suggests doing the same. Giving the creature it's space, he moves forward with reviewing the rest of the area.
Mar 22, 2024 1:37 am
Artesia follows suit.
Mar 22, 2024 2:43 pm
Seeing the carving up close, you realize there's some carvings on the apaku. Seems it shows the surrounding area, though only the terrain features around you. Though a close inspection may gain you some more information.

The nort western barrow has collapsed completely and would probably take days to unearth. Though the north eastern one looks to be intact, though a slab of stone blocks the entrance. You belive that with all of you working together you should be able to move it aside.
OOC:
The apaku can be studied with Arcan or Nature to figure out its power. The markings can be identified with a Perception check.
Mar 23, 2024 6:02 am
Koram studies the markings on the apaku before trying to figure out the nature of its power. "Shall we see if we can get this barrow open? What say you all?"
