Going to stop these minor notes so everyone can follow. Lets see if it is better. The PCs can still tell each other what they learned in private :D
Ibrahim Ghost
"Last five minutes? Not much, why you ask?" the man looks surprised with the question at first but then... "Oh yes. There was this creature I saw. Difficult to tell as it was easy to loose in all this snow. Some sort of bird... but big like a bear. The feather were... wait a moment!" The man looks around in panic "Why was there blood on its feathers?" slowly he recognizes his own corpse. "Is that... is that?"
Nov 10, 2023 4:49 pm
"Aye," Agna says heavily. "I'm sorry, lad. Ye went out quick in the end." Her voice grows grim. "And we'll sort out whatever did this to ye. Find peace, Ibrahim." Breaking her spell, she dismisses the ghost.

Agna turns back to those onlookers that have come to see what happened. "One o' ours died here. Ibrahim," she says. Murmurs come from the crowd. "Whatever killed him, it's still around. I ain't about to let it come back and take more in the night." She grips the amulet hanging at her throat.

"I'll need yer help, Adaia. Think yer magery can keep my circle up if I go into the snow?"
OOC:
I'm thinking that Adaia could either stay behind, keeping up the magic circle Agna used to trap the owls and pursuing the ring sideplot. Alternatively, she could maybe boost the circle so it stays while all three of us go on a monster hunt. What are your thoughts @riley?

By the way, we can consider that the elemental magic animating the owls slowly fades so you don’t need to worry about then forever. It was originally a combat encounter and you beat them. We can say Adaia noticed it.

Adaia ponders Agna's question a moment "I think your magic will hold for a while longer still. We should get people from the caravan inside and double the guard before setting out though."

Adaia fingers the ring in her pocket nervously, there's been a lot of death today and it's not over yet.

OOC:
You're correct, CESN. I meant Nass. My mistake.
"No time to lose then let's fortify however we can. Probably not a bad idea to set a watch within the cave as well."

Izuhn starts to help everyone shuffle in.

"By the way," he speaks to Agna and Adaia as they move along, "I don't think this is the first time I've heard a similar account. The tiger said it and the ogre had run into a similar sounding creature."

"Old things live in the wilds here," Agna states. She takes Izuhn's words and fits it together with what she gleaned from Ibrahim's spirit. Had she heard tale of such before?

As Izuhn shares what he heard from the tiger, Agna remembers some old rumors and speculations about some sorcerous monstrosities of unknown origin said to live in the tundra. She has never seen such thing and, until now assumed it was just non-sense to scare the children. As dangerous as a Yeti, but with an insatiable hunger for flesh. A bear with feathers can only mean... and owlbear! A creature common in the south, but unseen this far north. If rumors are true, the the artic owlbear will be nearly invisible in such a snow storm.
Nov 13, 2023 9:26 pm
"Is it really wise for us to wander out looking for this creature?" Izuhn wonders out loud.
Nov 13, 2023 9:34 pm
"You won't have to convince me to bunker down out of this storm." Adaia adds enthusiastically with the chance to get a bit warmer.
Nov 13, 2023 10:15 pm
"Better'n having it follow the caravan." Agna snaps. "Ye saw poor Ibrahim. The monster didn't care none that we were all near, it came for him anyway."

She cast her eyes about her surroundings, looking for any sign of the beast.
OOC:
Agna sadly isn't a hunter, so this roll will be terrible xD

ahahah well at least there is a roll Agna fails and doesn't level up 🤣
Despite Izhun's and Adaia's reticence about going out in the storm, Agna insists that they can't rest until whatever is out there is stopped. That beast is venturing way to close to the group for anyone to be safe. She walks into the storm ignoring the freezing winds and wonders around for a moment, but it seems that all traces of the creature have been erased by new layers of snow.
Nov 14, 2023 8:17 pm
Adaia comes to the entrance of the cave following Agna, but doesn't go outside and calls into the storm "The storms too strong Agna! We won't ever be able to find it, it'll just find us or someone else! Best we stay together until it's passed."
Nov 16, 2023 2:27 am
The wind buffets Agna as she trudges through the frigid ground, looking for signs of the beast that savaged Ibrahim, but she comes up with nothing that might lead her to the killer. Any track it might have laid on the snow had been obscured by the falling snow, and this is an area in which she has little expertise. Despite this, she stays stubborn in surveying the area for a while before returning to the cave. "I'll be on the next watch," the shaman declares.
Nov 16, 2023 3:56 am
Izuhn sighs at Agna's hard-headed insistence. He then casts a glance over his shoulder deeper into the cave and sighs again. "We might need more than one watchmen. There's no telling if this cave is safe or not. Honestly, it might be worth exploring somewhat deeper even if just to distance ourselves from the creature outside."

Izuhn also mutters under his breath. "Guess it's time for the next deadly circumstance."

So if I got correctly, Agna stays and Izuhn goes deeper into the caves. What will Adaia do?
Agna remembers the tracks left by some large creature during the night. Those tracks would match the beast described by Ibrahim, which in turn would mean that thing has been pursuing them for some time. If it is anything like their well known forest cousins from the south, either the caravan made the mistake of entering its territory, or worse, it is hungry.

Whichever is the case, the orc knows the cave entrance cannot be left unguarded...
Izuhn decides Agna will need backup for her task and goes deeper in the cave, looking for Beorne to update him on the outside dangers. The caravan master agrees to have some extra guards work with Agna, but he is worried about Nass' findings. Of course an artificiallly dug tunnel would tingle the curiosity of most dwarves in the caravan, so Helda was send with a group of dwarves to explore what he is calling "the ruins".

Izuhn follows the short tunnel Nass pointed out, which transitions from unworked stone to a corridor of hewn stone ending in a grand chamber. The chamber would be in complete darkness if it were not for a the torches carried by three members of the caravan:
- Ezahne stands in front of an ice-covered door made of white marble with streaks of gray and blue, fascinated with the Draconic writings and diagrams on it.
- Nass is looking around the chamber, currently staring at the ornate ceiling overhead
- Godric appears to be searching a long-cold remnants of a camp.

You her the echo of steps and whispers from the darkness, but you can't tell from where...
Nov 20, 2023 1:40 am
Adaia ponders the bodies outside the cave, but doesn't think a proper burial is possible anyway, that and the excitement of the tunnels draws her away. She'll go with Izuhn and seeing Nass poking about will wander over.
"Quite amazing isn't it, what are you looking at here?"
Adaia will study the surrounds and the ceiling to determine if she knows anything about them or their origin.

Nass turns back to illuminate Adaia as she ask her about the cave. "Ah yes, very impressive. Come, look at all of this" Nass takes the elf around the cave showly moving her torch to illuminate the walls around the door, revealing the detailed bas-relief carvings, depicting numerous humanoids casting spells which appear to alter entire landscapes. Leading to the ceiling, you can see depictions of floating cities as grand as Neverwinter or Waterdeep, and above them the drawings of ancient gods who are somewhat familiar, yet distinctly different from the ones revered today.
OOC:
Between your success and Nass...
As you discuss the nature the deities represented, you both notice a symbol that was similar, but not exactly, that of Mystra. This could point to the humanoids being clerics of the deity of magic. You both heard the legends of the floating cities of the ancient magocracy of Netheril, a powerful civilization that has been gone for more than a millennia now. Some within the Arcane Brotherhood even claim to be the successors (at least spiritually) of such a mighty empire, studying and trying to recreate some of their long lost spells. "The floating cities were from the Second Age as it requires the magic of the Nether Scrolls, so this must represent events from about 4 or 5 thousands years ago. I'm guessing the cave itself is from a latter time, perhaps a wizard copied it from some book?" as Nass turns to show more of the carvings, you notice some particularly terrifying pictograms. The humanoids and their servants appear to be dead, with the central figure seemingly a emaciated humanoid giving a sermon or lecture of a group of rotting corpses. Nass doesn't seem to pay attention to the carvings at all and continues "Well Ezahne was the one who came looking for ruins so she might know more about this"
Nov 22, 2023 10:14 am
"Yes where is she? She'll be amazed at our luck stumbling upon this."
Adaia is going to take some time and sketch some of the architecture, symbols and pictograms. As she does she wonders about the purpose of the room, and how it came to be here. Is the rest of the cave similar or does this seem out of place?

The symbols and pictograms catch Adaia's curiosity as she tries to put it all together. Who, and why, would anyone build this place? She can't tell for sure, but it does looks like it was build into the mountain, like a Dwarven stronghold... though the references to Netheril probably mean this is human made.

Nass turns her torch towards the door in the wall "She's been staring at the door for awhile now". Adaia can see the other's woman's shape moving in the darkness just out of the light's reach.
Nov 23, 2023 6:11 am
Adaia will find Izuhn, as she thinks a dwarf should surely be able to make some sense of what we're seeing.
"Izuhn, what do you make of this? Underground construction sounds like dwarven, but the motifs are human and of a race of men known to live in flying cities to make it harder to deduce what is going on."
