I think I will take weapon mastery (small weapons).

weapon mastery is a single weapon, not a group. I marked Dagger as Mastered. Let me know if you would prefer something else.

No no, dagger is fine.

So, I am guessing my character leveled up. Do I get to choose a new trait?

You are a veteran. So, you already have the basis of a proficient weapon group, a mastered weapon, and three standard traits. You may now spend accumulated XP on new proficiencies, masteries, HP, or traits. You may also get prestige traits, if you so desire. Each trait costs 10 XP, proficiency or mastery costs 8 XP, and HP each cost 6 XP. I don't know how many XP you have, but assuming you are focusing on traits (which is what I do), you should have one traits above the base three for each 10 XP you have. I can't see your character, so I can't check, but you may be able to get more than one trait if you missed one earlier.

Hope this helps.

Okay, how do I make the character accessible for you?@daryen
Also, I am thinking I would like to take the Spell Reader trait. I checked my character sheet, and I currently have four traits. Educated, Alchemist, Healer and TBD. I am forgetting what TBD is.

TBD stands for To Be Determined
Basically you need to add one. Same for weapon mastery
I put that just to indicate you are a veteran but had not yet added skills names. This was because you moved into the Eldergrove arc before Leveling up and I adjusted the advancement files a bit later.

@Stalker05, you can find the instructions to make it visible right here in Ealdwig's character thread.

@daryen I did as shown there, please check if you can see my character.

Does that mean, I get to choose 2 trait? Also, what does Mastery do again?

Mastery allows you to have advantage with 1 weapon
Vaun has earned
1 weapon mastery as a veteran
1 trait as a veteran
12 XP after becoming a veteran that can be used to get 1 trait = 10 XP, 1 weapon group proficiency = 8 XP, 1 weapon mastery = 8 XP, +1HP = 6 XP (but the tough trait for 10 XP gets you 2 HP)

I think Vaun had advantage with Dagger. I rolled 3 dice while attacking. So, I get 1 trait for being a Veteran and in addition to this, I have 12 xp? So, I get to choose another trait?
Mar 11, 2024 3:37 pm
Yes! I can see it now!

If you don't mind me repeating Psybermagi a bit, let me try to put it in a slightly different way.

First, pick the weapon you will use most often. I think you mentioned a dagger earlier. But, whatever weapon you will mostly resort to is the weapon you want to gain Mastery in. When you use it, you roll 3d6 to hit instead of just 2d6.

Second, pick a normal trait. No prestige traits here; just a normal trait. Whatever you want that fits how you envision the character.

Those two items fill out your base character and bring you to base "Veteran" level.

Now we work on your experience points. You character sheet shows that you have 12 XP. You can use them on the items Psybermagi lists in his post, and you can spend them however you will. It all depends on how you want your character to grow. If you want to effectively use ranged weapons, then Weapon Proficiency in Ranged weapons makes a lot of sense. If you want another trait, that's all good. In fact, you are now able to get prestige traits in addition to normal traits. Prestige traits are cool because they give you more than a standard trait does.

But, again, think about how you want your character to grow, then pick something that develops in that direction. If you aren't sure, that's what this thread is still here for. Describe what you want your character to do, and we can help give you options for how to get there.

We overlapped our posts.

Yes, to all of the above.

First, change the Mastery TBD on your sheet to "Dagger". That's done.
Second, pick a trait to fill in the TBD trait. This will not touch your XP yet. Ignore your XP while making this choice. This must be a standard trait.

Once those are done, then you get to spend XP. You have the options Psybermagi listed. If you pick trait you can pick a prestige trait if you want to.

If Vaun is interested I have some ideas for a Healers prestige trait I can work up to a usable state today. let me know
Mar 12, 2024 6:52 am
Hmm, I am thinking about getting Spell reader as one trait and Archmage prestige trait for the next one. As for healer prestige trait, I will take it next. For the Magical discipline, I am thinking of going for Diamond Magic discipline.
Mar 12, 2024 11:54 am
Only one prestige trait. Some let you take it multiple times, like arch mage.

If that is what you want then spell reader and arch mage fills out your traits for now.

The healer prestige trait would be somewhat like the arch mage, just more about healing and life manipulation
Mar 12, 2024 1:11 pm
Okay, lets go with spell reader and Archmage.

Do you have a request for your reward item or should I just come up with something?
Possible options I have prepared are a candle, gloves, or cloak
Mar 15, 2024 2:37 pm
I will go with the cloak.
