You didn't decide that yet? I left you in tavern to. I've never been to Salvation have no idea what are the options.
dwarf don't even try to hide his frustration about absence of the decision.
I'm good with any plan even if it is "go and act according to the circumstances". When?

DM, how long would it take to get to outpost by foot, not using the train? If Belaluur will only inform Sheriff tomorrow morning we would have to wait next train anyway, so are we wasting whole day anyway, aren't we?
I believe there is even a road to travel and distance is something to cover in a day at a normal peace. Those are just my as a player speculations though

Your scale close to what I had figured. I noticed the map puts it inside the Mournland, which I disagree with. I put it just outside the grey mists. It’s about 21 miles to Salvation. That’s a seven hour walk. However, at a fast pace of four, you won’t hit any limits and avoid penalties. If you left now, you’d reach the outskirts just after midnight.

Lightning rail leaves tomorrow morning. It’s a 45 minute trip and costs 100 silver each.

Warforged Captain
Around you, the tavern suddenly goes silent. A group of five warforged soldiers strolls through the door. The lead warforged wastes no time in announcing his presence. His voice is slithery and smug. He begins to pace around the room as he speaks.

"Good evening, travellers. We won’t bother you for long. We’re looking for a band of thieves. Last seen with a changling, driving a black lightning cart. We would handsomely reward anyone that may be willing to, shall we say,", while his metallic face is void of expression, you get a sense of gleeful malice in his eyes, "…point us in the right direction."

His soldiers bar the entrance as they scan the room. Patrons all around you avert their eyes, busying themselves with their meals or drinks. Belaluur continues to snore loudly.

Fauntleroy
Fauntleroy speaks up, "Gentlemen! Welcome!", he says brightly, "I know you won’t partake in a drink, but perhaps some entertainment? I only ask that you don’t spoil the mood of the evening. We have many weary travellers. I assure you,", his voice while pleasant, takes a firmer tone as he finishes, "…my customers have no information for you."

The captain turns to stare down the Aarakocra, moving menacingly toward the bartender.

Vice uses the message cantrip to secretly talk to Kleber. "Looks like the party came to us, shall we join the dance, or try and sit this one out?"

Peldan glanced around the tavern, his attention pulled to the commotion caused by the group of warforged soldiers entering the establishment. The tension in the room was palpable as the lead warforged announced their search for a band of thieves, accompanied by a changeling driving a black lightning cart. The inn's patrons hastily averted their gazes, avoiding any potential involvement in the matter.

Caught in the midst of this unexpected turn of events, Peldan's mind raced with thoughts of the impending danger and the impact it could have on his own plans. The atmosphere became heavy with uncertainty as the warforged soldiers positioned themselves strategically, barring the tavern's entrance.

Fauntleroy, ever the diplomat, attempted to defuse the situation with his characteristic charm and quick thinking. Peldan observed as the bartender addressed the warforged captain, extending a warm welcome while subtly conveying that the patrons had no information to offer. The captain, undeterred, advanced towards Fauntleroy with an air of menace.

Peldan's heart pounded in his chest as he considered his next move. The situation presented a dilemma. On one hand, he yearned for the adventure that awaited him outside the safety of the inn's walls. On the other hand, the specter of danger loomed large in the form of the warforged captain and his soldiers.

Taking a deep breath, Peldan mustered his resolve. He couldn't let fear dictate his actions. The opportunity to prove his worth, both to himself and to those around him, beckoned. With a steady voice, he addressed the warforged captain, hoping to defuse the tension and assert his own presence.

"Excuse me," Peldan interjected, his voice cutting through the charged atmosphere. "While I understand your pursuit, I can assure you that my fellow patrons and I have no knowledge of the thieves you seek. We are simply travelers passing through, seeking respite and camaraderie."

Peldan's eyes met the unyielding gaze of the warforged captain, his tone respectful yet resolute. He couldn't back down now, not when his own desire for adventure burned within him. Whether it was seen as an act of defiance or an act of cooperation, Peldan hoped his words would pave the way for a peaceful resolution and perhaps even earn him a modicum of respect in the eyes of those present.

If 37 could sigh, this would be the time. Peldan did the one thing you don't do when attempting to go unnoticed...

He made himself noticed.

Which was worse, because the party actually was who the warforged were looking for. And so, silently, 37 runs the list of available options for when things get worse.

The Captain pauses to look at Peldan. "There seems to be a lot of no information going around and a few too many pointing that out."

He makes a point of jabbing his sword into the floorboards to lean on it, lowering his eyes to meet the halfling’s gaze, "Perhaps we’ll stay for some entertainment of our own…"

SheK is feeling very unsettled and has the feeling that violence is going to be needed. She looks to Vice and Kleber for reactions. The thoughts to be next to the Captain and pounding on him strikes her mind. That is her thoughts on entertainment.

Please excuse me if I'm asking too much, but I believe the last scene ended up with a few PCs being outside of tavern.
May we talk events through, like did we saw the five warforged approaching tavern, or should I assume all of our PCs found reasons to get back in the tavern before that happened. I'm fine with either just want to make some sense

But I would certainly prefer I saw them approaching while outside. My PC need 5 minutes to done his armor, but he would at least cast mage armor if he saw them approaching.

Absolutely. Kleber and Buff would definitely have seen them approaching outside. They’re not exactly subtle. It was my assumption that you would not have stopped them outside. They wouldn’t have stopped anyway.

They’re currently not preventing anyone from entering the tavern. Just watching for people to leave. Whether you moved into the tavern before they did, or you stay outside and follow them in now, I leave that up to you.

It’s only been about 30 seconds. For the purposes of your armour, we’ll say you’ve had about a minute so far to prepare if you choose that route.

Kleber turns his back and hunches down near the machine crab as the Warforgeds pass by. He was wondering what to do when Vice's voice enters his mind, making the ranger's hand subtly twitch..

"Doubt we can leave this one out. Either try very hard to convince them or tell me when to charge in and put a bolt between their brow."

He reponded, discreetly drawing one of his repeating crossbows and gesturing to Bafrag to prepare himself.

With an arcane word and a wave of her hand she touches Kleber, he now has guidance. She follows this up with getting her warhammer to her hands. She whispers as she stands next to him, "We must end them before they can report." She gives the okay to attack and obviously she has his back.

She can well feel her breast plate she always wears but misses not having her shield at the moment as it is attached on her backpack. But soon she can fix that as she terribly prefers not to be damage too much. Healing is such a pain.

SheK casts guidance and is concentrating on it. Her warhammer is now in her hands and ready for versatile attack as she hasn't drawn her shield yet. AC 15.

Peldan's heart raced as the warforged captain's gaze locked onto him, his words carrying an undercurrent of threat. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily upon Peldan, knowing that his response could shape the outcome.

Despite his fear, Peldan refused to succumb to intimidation. He straightened his posture, summoning his inner strength to meet the warforged captain's challenging gaze with determination. This was his moment to stand firm and protect the sanctity of the tavern.

Gathering his courage, Peldan's voice rang out, filled with a mix of defiance and resolve. "You may think your threats can sway us, but this place is a haven of peace and camaraderie. We won't allow you to disrupt it. Now leave this place at once and let us be."

Bafrag reach his backpack for a shiny Half Plate, exhales, put it back and only takes a shield, then does something quickly with his screwdriver which actives something on the belt. A ligh blue shining surrounds dwarf and he nods Kleber. His metal crab activates and stand still right behind him. Finally he nods to Kleber demonstrating he is ready

Provided Peldan observes the continued preparations being made by the others (Bafag and SheK), he too will turn his head and "cough" the Arcane words necessary to activate his own "armor of shadows" while making the prerequisite semantic gestures while moving his hand to cover his mouth. He is prepared to respond should either one of the warforged or one of his patrons decide to act out in aggression.

Warforged Captain
The captain wrenches his sword from the floorboards with a cracking and splintering of the wood. He closes on Peldan, poking the halfling in the chest with his sword. He notices the resistance of some arcane energy and bellows to his men, "Take him!"

Immediately, a shower of sparks hits the four near the door. Fauntleroy bellows to the patrons, "Everyone! This way!" and gestures to the back room.

Sorry, an 11 won’t cut it. I’ll need everyone to roll initiative. Kleber and Buff may have advantage on this roll, since they stayed out of sight.
