37 puts up with SheK’s attempts to help, then searches the other warforged. Each of the patrollers have a long sword and shield. There are some personal effects, necklaces, pendants, a ring or two. Unsurprisingly, the equipment and items are Cyran of origin.

The one archer’s charred bow sits in the street. A few feet from the site of the cannonball’s victim, 37 finds a bow with a faint aura of magic. The warforged hand of its owner is still attached.
OOC:
You salvage 9 long swords, 10 javelins, 10 shields, a +1 longbow, a quiver of 12 walloping arrows, 150 gp and an assortment of gems worth 100 gp

Armat watched Sheriff handcuff their prisoner whilst contempt for his foe was plain on his face. But he was a knight, not a brute fool. He knew the value of taking prisoners, even now the war was over.
"We need him questioned. Find out how they organize. How soon this town can expect another incursion.."

As their beaten enemy was led away, Armat walked over with the others to 37. The contempt the red knight had for warforged did not leave his face as 37 presented his finds, but the knight kept his grim thoughts to himself. The magical items were interesting. Not only for their value, but also that the warforged had possessed them in the first place.
"This was a particularly well-equipped band, although the staff was likely made with titans in mind, so it may have been issued with it during the war and kept it since. The rest may have been looted off the battlefield, or from Cyre. Keep that key close. We may find a magic box to match it over at the old church."

The paladin glanced over at the derelict building, but he was in no rush, even though it had been dedicated to his faith. He began loosening his chestplate to remove the arrowhead that was paining him. He was battered, but a little magical healing would stop the bleeding in moments.
"A brief rest may be advised. The church may be trapped. Warforged liked to use gas and poisons to secure their holdfasts since it would not harm them. I doubt these have forgotten those tricks."

I think that we should left the sheriff take care of the caught one as much as I like too like to see him executed. Getting us healed up is more important right now. After that we can make plans. Although that hide out should be explored for info.

The ranger returns from retrieving his used Walloping Arrows just in time to hear the group discussing breaching the church.

"A rickety church's wooden walls would't hold back any foul air" he remarks. "Plus, Vice's trip to its catacombs didn't poison him. The Giantess seems like the caster type, so we should be wary of ward traps. The only issue we might face there is one or two Blades, and the undead beneath."
OOC:
Nick, can I salvage any of mine3 used magic arrows?

OOC:
Absolutely. Recovery of half ammunition with a minute of searching. I lost count. You can round up.

Vice walks past the fallen titaness, on it's back it still seemed higher taller that him, and he had to stand on his toes to see over it. He says to 37 "Hey mate, ya ok? Ready to head over to the old church? Not sure how id feel if we cut down a bunch of gnomes, ya know?

"I am well enough. I know full well that, once the war ended, nothing would ever again be so clearly defined," he replies, his tone solemn. "The war damaged a good many people, Warforged among them. Some are still fighting the war..."

37's head shifts slightly, just enough to steal a glance at Armat before continuing. "And truthfully, I cannot blame either side. I understand that the Warforged hold a great deal of resentment for being used. The others, well... my kind did precisely what we were made to do.

However... someone has to give ground or neither side will be able to move forward. We cannot be accepted if both sides cannot let go of the past."

Closing his Bag of Holding, 37 nods. "We should secure the church. Hopefully we addressed the bulk of their forces. I believe we could all use a good rest."

As is often the case with a small town, word of the titan’s fall seems to be spreading quickly. A quiet buzz grows as the town comes to life once more. As you make your way through town, curious onlookers begin to emerge from their homes. Watching the salvage of the soldiers and Titaness.

As you pass the jailhouse, you hear Belaluur angerly yelling at Garundah. Her daughter shouts back that Buff has already healed the wound. Proudly she announces she has her first battle scar. Bela seems less than thrilled.

Walking down Main Street, where most of the fight played out, shopkeepers tentatively unshutter their windows. The baker, a elderly dwarven woman, surveys the damage of the errant spells and the acid to her storefront. She shakes her head disapprovingly with a scowl at your lot as you pass.

Across the street, at the house Titaness crashed through, a dusty looking salvager sifts through the scattered planks. You hear him complaining about a missing hat.

You notice the house at the end of Main Street, has taken at least one hit from the elemental cannon. A large, splintered hole can be seen in the front door. An large, orc animatedly shows off what’s left of his door to his neighbour. "…let me tell you. Inches away! My bed is nothing but feathers!" The man he’s speaking with, shakes his head and whistles in disbelief. They both look to your beaten and bloody group as you pass and nod their respects. "Don’t you worry. A door can be fixed!", the orc says with a wave.

At the edge of town, it feels a little quieter. Not as many people are around, however, you do notice a couple of figures looking out at the derelict church. The hideout sits just outside the rest of town. It’s solid, dark brick design contrasts with the thrown together wooden buildings of Salvation Outpost. It shows its age. Several layers of cosmetic changes are evident. Different colours of faded paint and mismatched wooden trim pieces cover areas of the brick. Many of the windows are broken or boarded up. The bell tower surprisingly still has its bell. A small cart sits outside. The mark of the Blades etched on its side. The front doors are massive, at least fifteen feet tall. It’s clear this is where Titaness would have emerged. They appear to have been left wide open in the gang’s haste to respond to the horn’s silent call. A pair of glowing blue eyes peer out from inside the open doors, but quickly vanish at your appearance.

As they approach the church Vice ask: "Do you think they'll use this place for a church anymore? Especailly considering what it was used for lately and whats currently under it? Maybe we should offer up the timber to repair the rest of the town?"

"It has trap written all over it. We should be careful." Her black eyes look over the place. (What time of day is it?)

The angle of the sun doesn’t shed much light into the hideout and makes it difficult for SheK to see too far into the darkened hall. However, she is able to tell the eyes are on a much shorter person than the soldiers they’ve encountered so far.
OOC:
It’s late afternoon/early evening. The sun would be approaching the Grey Mists to the east behind you.

Ser Armat did not care for churches, his faith needed none. But neither did the townspeople, judging by the state of repair of the building.
"What happens to this place is for the townspeople to decide. I just wish to make sure the warforged did not leave something that will harm them." The glowing eyes might be another warforged, or one of their constructs..

The knight looked over the building, looking for the skull he noticed earlier..

"I concur with Ser Armat," 37 adds. "Although addressing the reported undead would be a worthy goal, for the benefit of the town."
May 6, 2024 2:26 pm
"That place surely has church mice in it and some I image are quite large and walk in two feet."
May 6, 2024 3:28 pm
While keeping his distance, Armat looks closer at the church. His eyes are drawn to the sun shapes adorning the outer walls. Behind the layers of paint and modifications, the Paladin relives the moment of recognition on the lightning rail. Wrought iron shabbily hammered over top and painted. Yet, behind the layers of this, the Paladin sees the remnants of a dragon skull, the blood red teardrops, long since gone. This building was once indeed, dedicated to the Blood of Vol.

"Bah, the locals have shown lack good judgment by leaving a deserted Blood church alone," the ranger remarks, dropping his pack and rummaging through it. "Anyone familiar with their 'teachings' should know they've got at least dozens of undead in their crypt, like Vice could attest for. And I don't need to say what trouble having mindless undead right outside of town would bring, right?"

He pulls out his new grappling hook and a length of rope, then turns to the group. "I bet the church's ring tower isn't warded. What do you say we enter through that?"
OOC:
I knew buying that hook was a good idea

Kleber manages to avoid hitting the bell. It takes a couple tries, but he gets a secure catch on the bell tower.
