Vice ask, possibly naively, "Why aren't we just goin in the front door?" as he activates his mage hand.
May 8, 2024 1:55 pm
"It seems like the easiest choice. If we are concerned about gasses and poisons because the Warforged were using it as a base of operations, I can walk through and sweep for traps," 37 offers.
May 8, 2024 3:47 pm
"Scaling the walls sounds so adventurous but I don't think it is needed right now. I suspect there is nothing but care takers in the place now. Could be nasty but I doubt it." SheK advances to the door/doorway. She looks in with her black eyes.
May 8, 2024 4:23 pm
Vice will stand back a bit, and then open the door with the magical hand, leaving the spectral hand visible so everyone can see.
OOC:
sorry, not tryin to take away from what Kleber is doing, just doing what Vice would likely do.
May 8, 2024 5:02 pm
As Vice pulls the door open further and SheK steps up to the entrance, she and Vice sees the blue eyes in the dim once more. The small figure scurries away to the back of the hall and around a corner with the sound of clanking metal.

"no hurt… no hurt… famul servant… famul servant…"

The voice is monotone and emotionless. The two adventurers are unable see it anymore, but they hear the faint sound of shaking metal.
May 8, 2024 5:06 pm
37 will move up, following Vice and SheK into the church.
May 8, 2024 5:38 pm
Vice calls out into the darkenss; "I think it's safe to say there's been enough 'hurting' today, but it would help if we could see you aren't a threat us. You want to step into the light?"
May 8, 2024 5:45 pm
As your eyes adjust, Vice, SheK and 37 find a nearly empty hall. Streaks of illuminated dust, lit by the many slits of the boarded up windows, help light the hall. The musty smell of dirt, dust and old, dry wood fills your nostrils. You hear the sound of wind whistling through gaps in the planked windows.

The main hall is nearly fifty feet long and thirty five feet high. The vaulted ceilings sit twenty feet above you. Debris from years of various squatters are scattered around the edges of the room and a few tables lay against the walls. The sparse belongings of the warforged raiders are neatly piled to the sides.

Upon the raised altar at the back, sits a stone slab. A carved stone statue of a knight stands at attention behind it. As tall as the ceiling, he holds the hilt of a great stone sword, pointed tip down to the altar floor.

The east entrance is to the left, with two doors, much smaller than the main hall doors. Another door sits on the back wall to the left of the alter, leading to what you presume is another room beyond. To the right, you see a table that stands out compared to the rest of the drab interior. It is in this corner the figure has run.

Famul
A short, bronze coloured automaton steps creakily into the light. Just enough for Vice and the others to see him. Vice is almost eye level with the construct. He holds his metal hands up.

"saw the lady fall… famul servant… famul not soldier…"
May 8, 2024 6:04 pm
"Well, 'Famful' is it? As you've said, the Titaness has fallen, so it doesn't look like you're a servant either. Did you have any other hobbies? I juggle." Vice says, tossing a couple chakram in the air and catching them behind his back. "Oh yeah, is there anyone else here?"

Famul
Famul watches the juggling display. His head follows the movement of the chakra through the air. "very good… famul pulls the cart… famul listens to the lady…"

He looks at the ground, "famul listened to the lady…", he clarifies. He sits quietly for a moment before answering Vice’s second question.

"the lady gone… soldiers gone… in the night… not alone… famul hears things… famul sees things… the lady did not see things… famul punished for seeing things…", he unconsciously runs his fingers over one of his many dents.

SheK adds on to that, "If you value your life, where would the Titaness and other have papers and such on their doings." SheK is in no mood for Famful as she sees him as any of the blades and something she is more than willing to kill but she holds off from attacking him.

Edit: Grrrr GM is so fast.

The automaton jumps at SheK’s voice, "yes green lady… yes green lady…", he backs up to a stone pillar behind him, hands still in the air.

SheK takes a second look behind him. It’s then that she notices, sitting on the table are some books, charts and maps. An ornate locked chest sits in the corner. A massive golden shield, seemingly too big to lift sits, propped against the far wall.
OOC:
Lol, sorry, on my lunch break.

The Red Knight followed along, clearly not fond of yet another automaton, even though this crude warforged was apparently made for more modest tasks. Still, he was wary of deception. A warforged assassin might wish to appear innocent.

Still, the creature proved cooperative.
"It would seem we found the destination of our key." Ser Armat announces, in particular to 37. He himself went to examine the shield.
OOC:
Does the shield have heraldry on it? Does it seem made for a titan?
May 8, 2024 9:20 pm
The shield indeed looks designed for a Warforged Titan. It dwarfs everyone in the room. It is well crafted with a design of three knife-like blades emblazoned upon it. On turning it to see the other side, Armat finds a sigil, roughly carved and painted into the inside of the shield.

Kleber retrieves his hook, feeling a bit disappointed that the front door wasn't trapped and he still hasn't found a use for the new tool.
The ranger then proceeds to inspect the maps and books spread out in the Blades' base while the team interregotes the servant.

The books and tomes vary in topics from the moons and their planes to artificing. You notice that throughout, their are many hand written notes in Elvish. Among the charts, you find a detailed map of the Mournland with many handwritten markings. One of which you recognize as the original location of the Cyre ir’Wynarn.

OOC:
Studying the map for a week will grant advantage on all survival checks related to orienteering in the Mournland.
May 8, 2024 11:25 pm
"So it would seem," 37 replies to the knight before taking the key in question to the chest and attempting to unlock it.

SheK lets others deal with the current situation and she turns and pays her attention now to looking outside and making sure we are not going to be back attacked.
OOC:
SheK never wants to admit she doesn't read well. 37 probably realizes that from her trying to help him. She isn't illiterate but she talks a whole lot better than she can read & write. She hates the classic stuff, 'You're a Half Orc, so your stupid.' She does have a bit lower IQ than most. Obviously, she casts spells with her WIS.

Such has always plagued her. She has copied and made many documents and constantly has to spend extra effort to get them right. Among many things, she is rather a professional forger. She does well with formal documents as most people don't know what the mean, anyway, is her thoughts. The house sometime is helpful in such matters and aids her.

Ser Armat took note of the shield's sigil. Perhaps it was a personal mark of its previous owner, or its creator. Either way, it was not familiar to him.
"It is fortunate the titan did not take this shield into battle. This thing looks sturdy enough to turn aside even those cannonballs."
As to why Titaness had not done so, well, perhaps she just took the staff in haste? It was hard to say.

Either way it mattered none now. The Red knight joined the others at the table, glancing over the documents with them. Much of the general books on lore were somewhat interesting, perhaps looted from this church, but the map was definitely a notable discovery!
"This map... it is exceptional. None of the Five Nations have mapped the Mournland since the Last War, but these Blades may have.."
