The light around 37 blinks out. He can still hear his companions behind him. His footing remains firm. It’s just dark.

Slightly greenish Half-Orc SheK replies back as she knocks some of her long black hair with green & red highlights away, "Just a strange spot." as active her is ready for melee combat.

"Well, I'm not eager to run into a dark room in an already dark dungeon, but we did come here to make sure this place is safe." Vice says with a shrug, and he enters the black with his Mage hand activated and out hoping that I'll give him a small measure of protection or warning of any dangers

Roll me a DEX save. Guess that applies to SheK too. Not being exceptionally agile she does manage to avoid most problems.

The half orc carefully joins the gnome at the bottom of the stairs. They were even steeper than she was expecting. The darkness still surrounds both of them. The others watch as Vice, then SheK disappear into the inky black. The rest can hear everything as they do so. One fell, the other did not.
