Vaun watched as the Glabrezu continued to assault his comrades, managing to hit Barley in the chest. He took out more of his injectors and injected two doses into Barley.

OOC: @Psybermagi,@microtheMacroBear Barley is healed for 4 points. Can you all update me about your current health?

Beruga is fully healed with one touch of Vaun's magic allowing him to heal Barley who is similarly wounded.

Barley scoops up a bit of dirt and throws it into the demons face and it growls and howls but still manages to evade Rhidon's attack. Beruga however managed to land a blow.
Blinking the demon tries to clear it eyes with one hand, attack with two, and evade further damage.

After being healed up to max and spared from Glabrezu's last couple of attacks, Beruga lunges forward to attack. Instead of evading this time, she steps forward and tries to distract it and/or block it's next attack aimed at Barley.

@Vaun, With your first heal I'm up to full health, but I got hit this turn. So, I'm at 5/6. If the healing roll was for me and not Berulga, I would be back up to full.

As Vaun's healing tincture flows through him, Barley gets knocked back from the demon's blow. He catches a glimpse at it's grinning maw before Berulga steps in front of Barley.

In that brief moment, Barley has an open shot and launches two psychic bolts at it's burning eyes.

FYI, blocking for others is actually harder than evading for yourself. I like the idea and you are free to keep doing it but there is a trait that lets you do it. If you guys want to keep trying it I will come up with a formal definition of how it works

You rain down attacks on the demons and it succumbs to your assault exploding into a massive cloud. The dark vapors waft around for a while and begin to disperse further and further but not quite vanishing. You get the feeling it will eventually reconstitute itself into imps but for now it is not a problem.

Vaun spends a few moments healing all of your injuries as you watch the demonic vapors dissipate.

Once we are clear of the danger, Beruga remembers the dying gnome on her back and turns her head around to check on his condition. Then looking forward, says

It looks like we're getting close. What's our plan to try to tame the Treeheart? Are warden's the only ones capable of communing with it?

This will be directed at the entire group, and at the Gnome if he is alive and conscious

Gnome

The Heart is alive and can act but does so more out of instant than thought. It listens to all but the wardens are trained to calm and guide it the gnome coughs.

The fight, with all the running, floating, jumping, and what not worsened his condition. Vaun does what he can for the man but the healing magic only seems to ease his pain at this point as his life force ebs slowly away. Vaun thinks he now has less than an hour to live.

As the battle ended, Vaun relaxed. He tended to all the injuries, but the thought of the dying gnome saddened him. He mentally projected his thought to others, "What shall we do about the gnome?" The fight with the four armed demonic Glabrezu was very hard for everyone, but now they have to make a decision on the dying gnome. Also, the prospect of finding the Treeheart loomed on the horizon as the party started to get ready to move out in search of the heart of Eldergrove.

The massive central tree is a few blocks from your current location and can be reached in a few minutes. The base of the tree is entwined with a large structure with many windows and doors leading in and out of it. The air around you feels oddly thick. Not dangerous but full of pressure and attention. Like pushing through a warm and comfortable blanket but unknown hands push back gently but with increasing force as you near the tree.

"We offer him a choice.", Barley thinks to the whole group and leans over until eye level with the gnome.

Taking the gnome's hand he says, "Friend, although our physician's magicks are great, we fear you are soon to meet your friends at the clearing between worlds. How would you wish to continue? You may ride along side with us until you meet your destiny or we can help you ease your pain. I could give you a vision of what life once was to sooth your mind until you are collected by the great beyond. It is up to you."

Beruga had the same thought as Barley, but, having no merciful way to end the Gnome's misery, decided to hold her tongue. Hang in there! If we cannot save you, we will surely see to it that your last wishes are honored and peace be restored to this great city that you have fought so bravely for.

Rhidon thinks to the group, Let's take him to the Treeheart as he asks, but I wouldn't want to put him through any additional stress. Maybe Barley and I should scout ahead about a block at a time, ensure that there are no other surprises. Vaun and Beruga can follow with the gnome when we mentally signal that the coast is clear.

Vaun nodded at Rhidon. "I think that is a nice idea, Master Rhidon. You two are more capable in close-quarter fights, and you are far faster than me. Since Beruga is carrying our gnome, we should follow your lead. But we must also hurry; the condition is deteriorating for our gnome. Let's proceed swiftly but cautiously."

"So we shall.", Barely says to the gnome and then turns to his companions. Thinking to all he says. "I agree that is a solid plan, Rhidon. Let's do it.

Malachi curls up beside the gnome, watching the group with knowing eyes.

Barley reaches out with his senses searching for the imps essence and joins Rhidon. "Lead the way., he says.

Barley is going to use spiritual to detect magical or unnatural forces as we move forward.
