I'd rather wait, no need for a fight if avoided. Barely thinks to Vaun.
OOC:
I'm up for fight if everyone wants to fight a spider. I think Barley would be cautious though.

Let's avoid the risk for now, lots of those sorts of creatures deal in poisons. Is that something your healing can help with, Vaun? Just in case.
OOC:
I'm fine to fight it if we need to, but would rather not barge into it's domain to do it if we can avoid it.
Jan 29, 2024 7:29 am
Vaun nodded, "I have studied herbology and anatomy. Venoms and poisons were also of interest to me. I can definitely work on them, unless it is a rare one. I do agree that if we are planning a safe route, then we can avoid this spider thing altogether."

Oscar nods then projects to the elemental, Elemental, please lead us to the tree heart and avoid the spider if possible.
Jan 29, 2024 1:27 pm
The elemental turns to head for the stairs. However as it does the tiles suddenly light up forming a strange pattern, that shifts again, and again. The lights coming from the platform fill the room and become brighter and brighter. With a sudden flash you all find yourselves...

GM says:
Rhidon finds himself deep underground in the distance is a dim green light. you move to approach and see a lone figure digging in the soil of this deep cave. She then plants a small seed before whispering to it and placing a hand on the door it was buried. Within moments a small sprout appears. Growing, stretching, seeking...
GM says:
Barley finds himself sitting in a chair with other elves as well as a couple duende and beastkin. A discussion is ongoing about how best to use and train the Treeheart to help the city prosper.
Councilor 1: We need to keep it under tight control. It's power is clearly too much for such a young mind to control
Councilor 2: We should teach and guide it with love and understanding.
If we limit it now then we may never see its true potential
GM says:
Vaun appears in the middle of the city. Empty. Abandoned. desolate. The plants over time grow over the magnificent buildings but to what purpose should life go on?
GM says:
Beruga blinks and now sees the city full of people. Joy and excitement fills the air. Then off in the distance a massive explosion. Screaming, Terror. Pain. The people panic and begin to run one way but Beruga can send demons coming from that direction as well as from the explosion

Vaun says:
Vaun is quite taken aback by the sudden image of the desolated abandoned city. He watched the plants overtake the abandoned building and thought, "Noting is truly empty. Nothing can stay empty. Where there is life, it leads to death but in death it creates an empty vessel for other life to prosper, to flourish. So, if there is a purpose for life to go on, it is to take back the empty city and prepare it to be sown with new life again."

Rhidon says:
Does the figure seem scared by the plant at all, or acknowledge Rhidon? He would ready his axe just in case it tries to ensnare him, and tries to look for any type of entrance, exit, or sign of his compatriots.

gm says:
At Vaun's thoughts he notices there is something he had not noticed before. The rustling sound that has premiated this place his he arrived has concealed the sound of water falling in water. A waterfall or fountain is . . . . that way? But there is something else as well . . . no it is gone. Whatever it was there was a barely noticeable sound hidden by the rustle of leaves even better than the sound of falling water.
gm says:
Looking closer Rhidon notes the woman is wearing a long cloak and under that a rough dress tied with a sash at the waist. A portion of her face can be seen and she looks to be elven or half elven. She smiles down at the plant as it grows and you realize she is singing, very quietly, with a soothing and happy voice. As she sings you see movement nearby and the lady smiles as a tiny creature, a mole, scampers over to squat next to then atop the lap of the ladies kneeling figure. The woman faces away from you and has not yet noticed your arrival but for a moment you are certain the mole looks strait at you as you heft your ax. Of you companions there is no sign at present but you do note the sounds of trickling and dripping water off in the distance beyond the kneeling lady.

These thread will be solo for a bit so post at your own pace. They will reintegrated as you work you way through the situation. I wil respond to each individually then add multiple members to notes as they reunite.

Beruga says:
Beruga freaks out. This is the first time she has seen anywhere close to this many people at once, and during mass panic. After the initial shock wears off, she will loudly squeek to whoever can hear her to evacuate using a different route. She will also attempt to block the path that leads to danger using what she can that's around her (plant growth, furniture, etc) and try to organize a movement towards a safer exit.
OOC:
Honestly, Beruga is definitely too panicked to try to really take control of the situation, but she's hoping to at least guide the hysteric masses towards the safest exit.

Also, cool mechanic! I can't wait to hear about what the others are up to.

Rhidon says:
Rhidon keeps his hand on his axe, but still keeps it below his waist as he doesn't want to look threatening. He approaches the lady slowly, and announces himself. "Excuse me, that's a lovely song. May I ask what it is called?"

Vaun says:
Vaun felt irked at himself that he couldn't distinguish the rustling. It was faint, but he was sure he heard something. He lowered his hood and cupped his ear while shutting his eyes closed to focus. Maybe this way he can try to discern what that curious sound was?

gm says:
Beruga's efforts at first seem to have no effect but then she feels arm clasp one of her legs. Looking down and back she sees a young elf, with an even younger one holding onto them hugging one of her thick and fluffily legs and the young elves cry. Beruga quickly sniffs the air and listens for screams of pain, not just fear, to navigate the two, and then more that follow her, to safety.
Roll for perception and another for persuasion
gm says:
The woman turns to face Rhidon and murmurs, It has not name, but I guess you could call it the "Life" song. The woman seems unconcerned with your presence but the mole watches you closely.
gm says:
Vaun can now distinguish the sound of something approaching on many feet. As he strains to locate the feet the sound of the gentle water and rustling leaves fade slightly but the feeling of loneliness starts to transition to fear as you do not know how long this might last. The need to find someone, anyone to be with you make you want to move but where, how, the world is big and unknonw. ..

Barley says:
Barley blinks and looks at the others in the room. He looks down at his arms, trying to determine if he is corporeal or just a shade to these shadows.

Then he registers what is being said, "Young mind? a child?", he thinks.

Is Barely sort of like Scrooge visiting the past or can they see and hear him?

gm says:
Beruga notices a path that seems both safe and to head towards water, the river or a fountain perhap. Though she has picked up a few citizens the chaos is too much for her to overcome for many.
Still she starts leading those few who will listen to safety. A few moments, that feel more like hours, in the panic filled city and Beruga has picked up a few more followers with her apparent confidence and the small group reaches a small plaza with a fountain.
The sounds of chaos and fighting are more distant and the mix of elves yong and old with a few gnomes and dwarves mixed in pause for breath. The gentle tinkle of the fountain seems oddly discordant with the approaching din of death and destruction. As you prepare the people to continue onwards the fountain squirts a stream of water out of it confines. To your amazement the water proceeds to flow across the plaza and down a street.
gm says:
Barley looks down and he appears normal. But he felt no magic affect his body so this must be some enchantment or illusion. The others continue their discussion about the Treeheart and you get the impression that the council is still new and thatArtenia has recently left the city and Treeheart in their care. The council looks to be a mix of race, profession, and age. As the discussion goes on you catch one of the beastkin, a cat kin with dark fur, looking at you oddly but none of the council members engage you in conversation.

vaun says:
Vaun felt the palpable urgency of abandonment. His heart started to beat faster and he could sense the momentary fear but he had to control such things. He took deep breaths to control his palpitations. Focusing on the feet sound of water he started to meditate in order to calm his mind. If there was no one here then he will exist in this oneness.

Rhidon says:
Rhidon takes his hand off of the axe, to see how the mole reacts, and as long as the lady doesn't stop him he moves to the other side of her to investigate the sound of water. "Pardon me, I think my way out is over here."

Barley says:
Barley looks towards the catkin and nods slightly. He moves as inconspicuously as possible towards the person. "Greetings, Don't be alarmed, I am gifted with the touch. I could not help but notice you noticing me. They call me Barley. What do you think about the esteemed discussion?", he projects to the Catkin's mind.

gm says:
Vaun calms himself and adjusts his mindset with a few breaths but can not completely remove the feeling of loss and feeling of isolation but does manage to gain a sence of peace and a glimmer of hope. The world is large and time changes all things. As he meditates the sound gentle sound of the water seems to becon to him and the sounds of something moving nearby grows sinister. . . .
gm says:
Rhidon moves around the lady who only nod, saying We each must find our own way. But it behoves those with the ability to help share what they learn with those that struggle. Be well and may you find your way. before returning to tending the plant. The tiny mole continues staring at Rhidon as you circle around her to get to the sound of water and after a few steps lose sight of the lady. Your dwarven eyes pierce the gloom and allow you to move in the rough cave easily and you seon see light up ahead as you follow the sounds of water. A thin stream, a trickle really, winds down a crevice that leads up and to clear skies and leaves of trees. As you pause, assessing your short climb, you hear the echoing patter of tiny feet behind you but see noting as you look back.
gm says:
The catkin glares at Barley saying It does not concern you. You do not belong here. For a moment is looks like they might lash out and strike you as claws unsheath, but it looks around and growls Neither of us do and stalks from the room hissing you should leave in parting.
The catkin leaves through a darkened doorway and your little sid discussion gets the attention of the council with several of them giving disapproving glances. The discussion continues with what looks to be 3 factions solidifying. One want to focus on maintaining the natural balance and letting the Treeheart be free to grow and learn, the second things it should be sheltered until is has grown older and gained more intellect, wisdom, and power, while the third thinks it should be exposed to as such as possible of the variety of ife and joys that diversity and overcoming challenges that all life must pas through. Again none directly engage you as they discuss various ways to promote the wellbeing of the Treeheart and the city as a hole. All seem well intended but some are more willing to compromise than others. As the discussion goes on you hear the sound of rainfall out an open doorway that leads to a balcony that is open to the sky and has a grand view of the city beyond and below.
