Phantom
The phantom lady looks thoughtful before replying I can not leave the tree so know not the state of the city other that what the Treeheart shares with me. Though I was on the council at the time of the collapse I did not tell the Treeheart to do this. But I am partially to blame, as are all the council members at that time. Some fled, others urged it to use its power to attack the demons, while I and others told it to sacrifice itself to protect the people. None of us took into consideration that the Treeheart is more than power an magic. It is alive and growing but immature and the attack frightened it. It wanted to save the people and protect the city but not at the cost of itself. So with our lack of unity and wisdom we demonstrated to the Treeheart that we were unfit to guide it and so it acted as best it knew on its own. I will accompany you to the Treeheart to act as interpreter for it if it lets you near.

Vaun listened to the phantom and said, "My lady, here lies the benefit. We know what mistakes were done and how the Treeheart behaved. We also have a probable answer for why everything went wrong. Maybe there is a chance to approach this differently this time. Maybe you can guide us and even stay with the Treeheart as a companion, soothing it once we heal the city up and fix the rampant growth. We also promise that, this time there will be more care taken against outside power."

OOC: It was nice playing with you @avylazyboy. I hope we can play again sometime.

The phantom nods her head and bows slightly to the water elemental that returns the gesture. The elemental once again flows through a door to the next room and when you open the door, after determining it to be save, you see it at the far side of the empty room and continue trekking after it. The next door reveals another empty room and the elemental flows to the far side and pauses at the door to await you. You proceeded to cross the room when you feel the floor begin to give out. Another pit trap!
Save Test please. If you succeed you can describe your actions to help any trapped companions. I will explain the trap after everyone rolls.

Rhidon follows curiously and is stunned when the floor falls beneath his feet.

Save Test for pit trap - (2d6)

(15) = 6

After watching the Phantom of the lady nod to the elemental, he started following it. But as he continued to move from room to romm there was something loose on the floor.

OOC: Not again!

OOC:
Rolling save test. May I use the martial arts trait to evade this trap or is technically only for the evade mechanic while fighting? I will add the roll but keep the description vague in case that's not allowed and the failed save stands.
Oh no, Vaun!
Barely feels the floor start to give away and takes a mad dash to the otherside turning his head in time to see Vaun start to fall.

Rolls

Pit trap save - (2d6)

(14) = 5

Martial arts trait evade the pit reroll? - (2d6)

(16) = 7

OOC:
Martial arts is for combat. Acrobat could use 3d6 as it is all about movement.
Rhidon manages to jump back and avoid the pit as the other three fall into the pit. The bottom of the pit is covered in sharp barbed thorns that pierce boots, pants, and shirts to dick into your flesh. 1 damage each

As you struggle to your feet you realize the walls are similarly lines with thorns that curve down making their tops like blades and their downward pointing tips like fish hooks. Even more alarming is the fact the middle of the floor begins to sink and the walls close together and ripple in a manner all too like that of a throat swallowing!
Feb 18, 2024 1:34 am
"Hold on! I'll send down a rope." Rhidon yells down. He takes the rope out of his pack, tosses one end down, and looks around the room for something that he could tie the other end to that appears sturdy enough to hold at least one of them at a time.

Rolls

Roll for tying rope (if needed) - (2d6)

(46) = 10

Feb 18, 2024 2:00 am
Rhidon lowers a rope a and can support one at a time. Beruga tries her magical balloon before remembering she just used it so its magic has not recovered.
Feb 18, 2024 1:15 pm
"Go Vaun, I'll be behind you", says Barley.

He takes his rope out of his pack and then yells to Rhidon, "Rhidon, I'm throwing up my rope. Try to catch it!"

He tosses the rope.
OOC:
I think Vaun should go up first because you can heal us afterwards but not yourself.

Rolls

Tossing a rope to Rhidon - (2d6)

(24) = 6

Feb 18, 2024 2:41 pm
Vaun nodded at Barley and then started climbing up. As he heard him calling out to Rhidon to catch the rope, he turned to see that the rope was not going to reach him. In the mid climb, Vaun attempted to catch it so that he could drag it on and climb with it.

OOC: Rolling to catch the rope.

Rolls

Catch the rope - (2d6)

(26) = 8

Feb 18, 2024 10:50 pm
Vaun climbs as quickly as he can but the sharp thorns makes it difficult as Rhidon can not pull him or Vaun will get sliced and impaled on the thorns. Vaun climbs out as Rhidon lowers the other rope so both Beruga and Barley have one to climb. Vaun assists Rhidon in anchoring the ropes as the other two climb out.
Save test to escape for Barley
Feb 19, 2024 12:33 pm
Barley's grasps the rope and begins to climb!
OOC:
Edit: Ok! That one was better!

You all manage to climb out of the pit, bruised and bloody. You spend a few moments removing the thorns that jabbed into you despite your caution. The elemental and phantom look on from the far side of the pit. Sloly the pit closes up as Vaun heals the others.

"Did you know about that my lady? A warning would have been nice.", Barley says to the phantom as Vaun patches him up.

I did not. The tree is an extension of the Treeheart and can be shifted with effort. Though I am bound to the Treeheart I am not is keeper, though we foolishly believed so in life.

"As my friends have indicated, we merely wish to bring peace to the treeheart and others in this area." He pauses for a moment, searching for the right words for this next part as he doesn't wish to offend. "In my experience, spirits such as yourself are also seeking a peace they were unable to achieve in life. May I ask how you came to your fate?"

Phantom
the pain lady sighs with regret
I am this way from fear.
It is due to my fear that I tried to abandon the Treeheart and it was out of fear that the Treeheart bound me with it's branches and magic so that I can not leave. Thought it has not allowed me into its presence in years it still will not let me leave .
. And a bit smile crosses her face momentarily.

"Well let's hope we can bring you a swift and good reunion.", Barley says standing and bowing slightly to the lady.

"I for one am ready to continue. Please let's move on.", Barley continues.

The elemental awaits you at the stone door. When you get near it once again flows through small cracks to the far side. However, this door has no handle, lever, or hand holds to move it. You assume it should slide but which way and how? Looking over it closely you find runes carved on the door and the doorframe.
