I am going to be a Female Swashbuckler Northlander human from Caer Callidyrr named Selena Silver. She'll have the sailor background. She has always dreamed of running her own Pirate crew after being a part of the Salty Sharks for a long time as second mate to Captain Kidd, so adventure and combat has always been in her blood as being a Northlander. She joined the Salty Sharks after being caught as a stealing treasure and was originally a slave girl to a wealthy noble who planned to use her as one of the girls at one of his pleasure brothels in town when Captain Kidd bought her off the noble for a pretty penny as payment for her misdeed. Plus, he noticed the bruises on her and decided she needed a new path in life. The noble agreed and Selena, who was 12 at the time, was now a permanent part of the crew slowly rising to the ranks and fighting with the rest of them became a fine Swashbuckler pirate with dreams of someday being a Pirate captain. So now at age 19, she wants to go on adventures, make friends, find treasures, and more. She comes to Waterdeep in search of a new adventure, treasure, and new companions to go on the ultimate adventure. She is known to some as "Lady Pirate" but everyone else calls her Selena, or the Silver Pirate, or Lady Pirate as you will always see her wearing a silver pirate jacket with jewels embroidered on it.

Going to get my character submitted today. Excited to play my first ever pathfinder game. ^_^
Actually, you will be about 12. Remember that you are playing youths going out to adventure for the first time. Glad to have you aboard, though, and I love your enthusiasm!

Can't wait until you accept our characters and we start playing

I kind of like the idea of a 12 year old first mate who thinks she's a captain.

Jomsviking what would you think about Crow and Tom having crossed paths in their backstory? Like perhaps, Crow was being blamed by the Watch for some theft he actually didn't commit while passing through Waterdeep, and Tom helped clear him and perhaps struck up a bit of an awkward friendship with Tom interested in learning about Crow's methods from when he "used to" steal to survive.

If any of you pass thru the Artificier's shop you'll meet Gern who'd be interested in talking with other's his age

I betcha Selena would probably pass by the artificers shop with Captain Kidd and the rest of the Pirate crew of the Salty Sharks as they look for better weapons for the ship and ways to make it run better. But she would definitely talk to other kids her age if its allowed as she would allow the adults to talk shop.

Thanks Minmin, I like it too

Maybe a bit of a retweak, Crow is level 1, nothing problematic with the watch, as that would give him too much notoriety for a level 1. Think establishment, Crow is looking for his mother. What motivates Tom? His work with his father's investogations could definitely call upon an upstanding acolyte of the god of war and justice.

Like pretty much any good thief, reputation is everything. Knowing someone like Crow would open many doors to the criminal underworld which is useful to a budding investigator. Apart from practical skills Crow can speak to nearly anyone on the continent - speaking both Illuskan and Chondathan, Elvish, Dwarvish, Gnomish, and Halfling. And with a Charisma of 23 most everyone is receptive to him.

Think of Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings. How can the humble thief help without admitting to being a humble thief?

Oh crap! I just read what I had written. That should have been 4d6 and drop the lowest! I am so sorry! I was wondering how Crow got a 23 Charisma. Crap! I'm sorry if that messes up anyone's plans.

In this case I usually recommend the party choose between the best of two arrays. Rune and I both rolled superhumans. With a +9 modifier or +10 respectively. But considering the feat tax and aging penalties, why not just keep it as is?

Rune, yes, we are using traits. Anyone else have thoughts on the stats issue? I am loath to keep it as is simply because you are young characters; you are supposed to be weaker.

Ah, fortunately I just sort of assumed the lowest was dropped.

@Jomsviking It was just a thought. I wasn't seeing Crow as being notorious--more that the Watch was considering him as a suspect in something minor because he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and suspected him as an orphan, etc. but Tom simply confirmed he was indeed innocent. Part of what drives Tom to be an investigator is that he believes in ensuring that the law does its job properly and leads to justice. And he's also sporadically interested in learning in things across a range of topics. So, alternatively, it would also make some sense that he might have personally had some questions about the Tempus' faith in general and wanted to learn more about their worship of justice (probably more academically than as a follower, given his bookish traits, to compare them with other beliefs). That could have led him to encounter Crow, simply as an acolyte close to his age who would have been easier to approach than an older member of the faith?

@Drakis2 I could imagine Tom might have crossed paths with Gern occasionally as well in that he would have needed sort of odd alchemical 'scraps' and equipment for preparing his elixirs or performing science experiments and would have probably have a general interest in what was available at the shop? He might have gravitated towards Gern if she was someone easier to talk to and ask questions.

Jomsviking, what do you mean when you say the two arrays?

I think I am in favor of sticking with the interpretation of drop the lowest. I tend to prefer lower-power games but this is my first time playing Pathfinder so I'm not really sure how all of that balances out.

I probably missed this somewhere, but do we get 2 for free, or do we optionally buy them by trading in a feat for them?

Tom's added Law Enforcer and Keen Ear which seem like really good fits (and even give him a free pair of spectacles).

I mean the only reason the attributes array exists is to break artificial symmetry. But lack of artificial symmetry means a guarantee of marginalization. It doesnt really matter but can leave people, who feel strongly about such things, feeling cheated.

@WhtKnt: I am fine with the change, and dropping the lowest roll out of 4d6. I kinda liked how skilled Gern looked for a kid, but hey ho. I think the lower skill level is more appropriate for a kid anyway, and we get quite a few bonuses for the young age. So it all balances out :-)

@MinMin

Justice to Tempus(Who is Chaotic Neutral) is revenge killings, massacres, and vigilante justice. A realized version of the concept of blind justice, literally Tyr Even Handed. The investigation probably went through his temple. But I don't know how Tyr translates to Pathfinder since he usually just foretold injustices to his clergy six months in advance. Gods that help altruistically don't really fit the "nuance and complexity" of Pathfinder.

Lets not get bogged down with specifics. I agree, Tom and Crow PI. "Let my eyes be your sight blind one. For a good man is as a hammer in your hands" a common prayer to Tyr. We don't need to detail what they did or why if as actors we agree that it, whatever it may be, happened.

Jomsviking says:
Is the heist an inside job? Did Molly provide details to the inner workings of the estate? Didn't have to be knowingly, could have been socially engineered from her. Or coerced. Might have simply been gossip.
What heist are you talking about?

This is Molly. She works as a fulltime maid/cleaner either at one house or several from a maid rental service
Doing a cleaning she came across a pile of small stones, as she touched them both her magic and the Ioun Wyld came to life and became her familiar before she understood what was going on.
