Zaiashi sighs and mumbles this could have gone better. Then he focuses a moment, a small flame appearing in his hand, which he hurls at the bloodied goblin.
OOC:
.... And I just realized, I'm not sure what exactly to roll, sorry :/ anybody who can help me out with that?

OOC:
What are you using, is it the spell Produce Flame?
Mar 29, 2024 6:47 pm
OOC:
sacred flame cantrip
Mar 30, 2024 5:04 pm
OOC:
Okay, so basically, you produced a flame in your hand to light the area. You can also, as part of casting this spell or in a later round, also perform a ranged spell attack, which means that you can throw the flame at the goblin using your WIS mod.
Of course if you do so right now, you'll make your ranged spell attack at disadvantage because you are in melee with your target seeing as since this is a surprise round, you would have performed your action which would meant that you cannot also move. You could move away from the goblin next round (a normal combat round) to throw your flame it it with no penalties, but doing so would provoke an attack of opportunity from it since you're exiting a threatened area.
Another possibility would be to attack the other goblin instead...

OOC:
right I forgot about the disadvantage because close quarters. Would I also attack at disadvantage if I'm attacking the other one? I know the range is correct but my original target would be standing right next to me?
Mar 31, 2024 12:29 am
OOC:
I thought the answer was no, but yes, if you are within melee range of an hostile creature, you make ranged attacks at disadvantage even if the target of the ranged attack is not the creature you are in melee with.
Mar 31, 2024 6:29 am
OOC:
well in that case I would like to do this instead, if it's okay to redo this:
Zaiashi takes a solid hold of he quarterstaff and swings it at the bloodied goblin.
OOC:
1d20 to hit +2 proficiency + ability mod, so -1 from strength in this case?

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+2-1)

(10) + 1 = 11

Mar 31, 2024 5:05 pm
OOC:
Okay, no problems. And yes, your math holds up.
Zaiashi swings at the nearest goblin but misses.

First round of combat.

Initiative
14 Harsk
11 Garbufel
11 Zaiashi
11 Runns
8 Ugost
8 Scarfs
2 Muggs

Battle Map.

Harsk is up!
Apr 1, 2024 1:36 pm
Ugost seeing his companions engage the goblins moves into position as he readies himself for battle

Rolls

Initiative = Dex(3) + Mod( 0 ) = - (1d20+3)

(5) + 3 = 8

Apr 2, 2024 5:12 pm
Dropping bow to ground, Harsk pulls out his battleaxe. Hustles straight ahead (north), and really gives it to the wounded goblin!

Rolls

Battleaxe! - (1d20+4, 1d10+2)

1d20+4 : (7) + 4 = 11

1d10+2 : (5) + 2 = 7

Advantage! - (1d20+4)

(10) + 4 = 14

Garbuffel's smirk didn't fade as his nicely patterned club began to flow down its carved lines until it was fully awash with magical power. Then he swung it hard, aiming to knock the goblin's teeth out!
OOC:
Bonus action: cast Shillelagh.
Action: attack.

Rolls

Shillelagh attack - (1d20+5)

(17) + 5 = 22

Shillelagh damage - (1d8+3)

(8) + 3 = 11

You'd be flanking with Zaiashi then, roll your attack with advantage.

Harsk drops his goblin, soon followed by Garbuffel, so this fight ended up pretty fast... Now the question is do you kill them or leave them unconscious?
Apr 2, 2024 11:38 pm
Scarfs just looks on as they are taken down.
Apr 2, 2024 11:41 pm
The job was for 20 Gold. The question is will these two be more trouble alive or dead? Ugost wonders as he move to aid the others in securing the fallen foe and searching them for the expected payment
Apr 3, 2024 4:41 am
We should avoid unnecessary death. Let us get the gold and leave them for the towns people Zaiashi replies and beginns surveying the area. We should not linger.

OOC:
The question was aimed more at Harsk and Garbuffel who dealt the finishing blows as when you reduce a monster to 0 HP, you can choose to kill it or knock it out.

"NOT SO TALL NOW ARE YOU!?" Garbuffel yelled at the fallen goblin boss at his feet. Then he adjusted his new top hat. He felt... taller. This was good. Then he began dragging the goblin over to the well, when the others pestered him about searching them for gold for some odd reason, which the others insisted the reason they were there in the first place. Garbuffel seemed confused about that. Perhaps he hadn't been paying attention again..
