If I was able to act before the three foes came at me, I would have entered rage and attacked, which means that would have been 5 damage :)

If I'm incorrect, feel free to ignore me!
Ogbar sees three more enemies appear and feels the battle rage consuming him. He roars and swings his axe at the enemies as they approach.

Rolls

Round 1 Attack - (1d20+5, 1d12+4)

1d20+5 : (15) + 5 = 20

1d12+4 : (8) + 4 = 12

Round 2 Attack - (1d20+5, 1d12+4)

1d20+5 : (13) + 5 = 18

1d12+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

I'll allow it, though you knew there were enemies and described that you were approaching them. I'd assumed that you had a reason to not enter rage yet.

So Ogbar is at 6 HP.

I feel like there have been a number of "I didn't know that was happening" responses in my games recently. If there's a recommendation anyone has for how to present my posts differently so that players don't miss the important details, let me know!

Kragga sees Ogbar being ambushed by the zombies coming through the flank. Rushing forward alongside his friend Albertus, he draws Aanbo's quarterstaff and strikes at the closest undead with all of his considerable strength. "Back to hell with you bastards!" he roars, his orcish bloodlust rising as he battles the stinking corpses.
OOC:
Not sure which ones are still standing, so if it is okay with you spaceseeker, I'll leave the targets up to you to decide whichever target seems most logical. It'll be one of hip, gil, or fern.

Rolls

Quarterstaff (1-handed) vs fern/gil/hip - (1d20+5, 1d6+3)

1d20+5 : (14) + 5 = 19

1d6+3 : (6) + 3 = 9

Feb 7, 2024 1:03 am
OOC:
Sorry, the reason I hadn't entered rage yet is because I thought everything was in the other room and Ogbar wasn't sure what was happening there quite yet. Once they spilled into this one, the plan would have been to rage in response, especially given the numbers disadvantage I was at. I hope that clears it up :)

Xana prepares more of the same. "Clear a path! I can't seeee!" She ducks down, trying to see past her companion's legs to the enemies on the other side of the door.

Rolls

ROUND TWO

Aanbo punches and kicks Bill, dealing 9 bludgeoning to his knees! Bill falls onto his face, the light in his eyes extinguished. Immediately, Cam steps forward, her throat slit and eyes glowing gold just like all the others.
Theran meets Cam with his shillelagh...striking the dead priestess for 9 bludgeoning damage!
Albertus hears the familiar roar of Ogbar's rage, then the grunts of pain as the barbarian is pummeled. "Ogbar...he's in trouble!" Al announces, then runs around the stairwell out of sight of the others to join Ogbar, attacking Gil as he arrives and yelling, "Take that!", hitting the slain priest for 8 slashing damage!
Kragga rushes around the blind corner to the other side of the stairwell, following Albertus to join Ogbar, yelling "Back to hell with you bastards!" and attacks Gil with his staff, hitting the murdered man for 9 bludgeoning damage! Gil falls, the light in his eyes out!
Xana tries to get a clear shot for her dark powers, yelling "Clear a path! I can't seeee!" but she can't see well enough to properly aim, so she fails to hit anything with her eldritch blast!
As Cam turns to face his attacker, Joseph slips in from the side over the fallen body of Ace and stabs with sword and dagger...dealing a staggering 18 piercing damage to the dead priestess. Cam falls, the light in her eyes extinguished.
In the background, Aanbo and Theran can still see the shriveled dead man in the gold robe called "K"...which means they, too, can be seen. The gleaming figure of K chooses a target - Theran - then gestures with his mace, and a baleful column of foul excrescence instantly appears, descending from the ceiling towards Theran. Theran must attempt a DEX save, DC13, to avoid taking 8 damage!
Still frothing bloody foam from his mouth, Ogbar slashes into another murdered priest, Hip, hacking savagely into the figure for 6 slashing damage!
The candles flare, the silver bowl sparkles, and a golden glow envelops the dark table once again. Once more, a stream of beautiful golden light shoots from the table into the body of Ace. Their eyes rekindled, Ace uses their turn to stand up in front of the eastern doorway, behind Joseph.
Striding through the open western doorway, glowing-eyed Eve appears, walking purposefully up to Ogbar and attacking him! But the fury of the barbarian is such that her blows bounce off of his spasming body!
His eyes glowing painfully bright, Fern attacks Kragga, but the wizard is able to fend off the blows with his staff!
Unblinking, the murdered priest with the glowing eyes called Hip attacks Albertus, his punches rocking the paladin's head back with hammer blows! Albertus takes 5 bludgeoning damage!
Squeezing into the doorway over the fallen bodies of Bill and Cam, glowing-eyed, throat-slit Doug attacks Aanbo, punching down at the dwarf's face. Aanbo takes 6 bludgeoning damage!
[ +- ] Forest Ruin top floor at the end of round two
Note that I assumed that PCs (Joseph, Theran) will continue with previous actions when an action is not declared. Theran needs to roll that DEX save to complete round two.

I believe the altar is less than 35 feet away, so Theran will take the dodge action as he moves towards it.

Trying to move so as to provoke as few AoOs as possible.

Hearing that something is on the table, Xana follows a few feet behind Theran, using him as a shield and hoping he takes the brunt of any attacks that may come their way.

The battle at the top of the Forest Ruin continues!

Aanbo continues his whirling attacks, punching (5 Bludgeoning) and kicking (6 Bludgeoning) Doug!
Theran rushes into the room, attempting to avoid the murdered priests Ace and Doug as he takes the Dodge action. The murdered priests Ace and Doug each take the opportunity to attack the valiant druid (both with DISADV due to Theran's artful dodging). Theran dodges past Ace, but is struck by Doug. Theran takes 5 damage!
With powerful strokes, Albertus hacks into Hip, dealing the murder victim 11 slashing damage!
Kragga swings at Fern, but his blows are shrugged off by the murdered woman!
Xana follows Theran as he clears a path through the murdered priests, and they arrive at the desiccated corpse standing in front of the table, wielding a mace (labeled "K")! The violet flames of the candles set on skulls on the table flicker with the air of their approach. Several other ritual components, including a large silver bowl, sit atop the black cloth draped over the table. The table itself glows with a vibrant golden energy.
Back in the eastern doorway, flanked by murdered priests, Joseph dances and lunges, attacking Doug with his sword and dagger! His twin blades bite deep into the murder victim, dealing Doug 18 piercing damage! Doug's eyes turn dark and he collapses.
K was a man, once. His sunken, dark eyes and skin stretched tight over his skull and mandible make it tough to imagine as anything other than a vicious undead. Xana can see that the golden robe is rent with many holes, stained dark with ancient blood. K strikes Xana with his mace. Xana takes 2 bludgeoning damage!
Ogbar hacks Hip, cleaving into the murder victim for 9 slashing damage. Hip collapses, his eyes dark.
The black cloth-covered table glows, and a beam of scintillating golden energy streams forth into Cam's prone body. Her eyes glow again and her body lurches into motion, standing up in the doorway. Cam attacks Joseph, but the rogue expected something like this, and manages to dodge the clumsy blows!
Ace attacks Joseph, too, as he is the closest target. But the rogue is in full evasive mode, and nothing else can touch him.
Fern attacks Kragga, and the wizard is not so lucky! Kragga is hit for 7 damage. The half-orc drops to the floor, losing consciousness., but he casts Shield. Her blows rain harmlessly on the barely-visible blue magic barrier protecting the wizard!
Eve attacks Ogbar! One of the flailing arms lands a solid blow, and Ogbar takes 2 bludgeoning damage (reduced from 5 due to rage)!

OOC:
As a reaction, I'd like to cast shield! That brings Kragga's AC to 19 until the end of his next turn. That should negate the attack.
As the female zombie is about to strike Kragga, he utters a swift phrase and extends his arcane symbol to the heavens: "Avertere Gladios!"

With its aggression bouncing harmlessly off of a shield of blue energy, he whirls Aanbo's staff at the unholy bitch, swinging with such force that the hardwood whistles through the air.

Kragga then bullrushes through the door and advances toward the altar! (moving down 2 or 3 squares from the door, depending on how much movement that takes up)

AMENDMENT:

I just realized that I missed not one, but TWO different instances of "Cleaving through creatures" in this round (round three)!
First, when Joseph attacked Doug, Doug collapsed at 0 HP, but there was damage left over. Since the other foe was also adjacent, Joseph spun and hit Ace with that same attack, with enough damage remaining that Ace also fell!
Second, when Ogbar slashed Hip, Hip collapsed and Ogbar's attack also hit the adjacent Eve, dealing her 4 HP slashing damage! She remains standing, but with fewer HP than previously!

This means that the only foes standing as we begin round four are Cam, Eve, Fern, and K.
