The spiders reach the party first, snipping and biting. One targets Pinion, thinking him a soft target, and sinks its poisoned pincers into his leg. A rush of pain stabs from the wound, but Pinion's attention is focussed on his cannon which engulfs the spider in a ball of flame. When it clears nothing remains but ash.

The other bites at Ail, but fairs to get past his guard. It's too fast for him to hit back though, skittering out of the way of each heavy hammer strike. The sound echoes through the tiny room.

The golem advances on Velisse and delivers a rattling blow from it's hammer. She stumbles, but it doesn't let up and readies itself for another swing. Her own sword glances off it's stone shield, showing no more effect than it would have if she attacked one of the walls. Nearby, Jezlyn scans the creature for an identifying feature. It's hard to discern but she can feel huge waves of strange magic flowing from it.

Pinion, looks from the former spider, then at his new weapon with a sense of awe. Well then, lets see if we can reproduce those results"
OOC:
is pinion poisoned?
Apr 12, 2024 8:14 pm
OOC:
Pinion isn’t poisoned. Weirdly poison damage and the poisoned status effect aren’t linked.
Apr 12, 2024 9:49 pm
Pinion turns his weapon toward the stone guardian. "I doubt this will have the same effect on you, but hopefully it will still provide some useful data"

The guardian was proving to be harder to hit than the rest of their enemies so far. Velisse called upon the dark power of her blade, drawing on her own life force to see if she could hurt her opponent.
OOC:
Using Shadowstrike for a free attack, costing 4hp. If the free attack hits, it deals an additional SL+4=6 damage, beyond the HR+10.

"Be careful! I sense some strange magic about these golems." Jezlyn keeps her distance and fires a pistol at the one not engaged with Velisse.

The remaining spider attempts to seize it's chance when Pinion turns his back, but it's caught by Ail before it can. His hammer knocks it aside where it scrabbles, open to a shot from Jezlyn's pistol. The both impacts make satisfying crunches, and the heavily injured spider stands. It doesn't look like it can take much more punishment though.

Meanwhile, while Pinion's cannon has little if any noticeable effect on the guardian's obsidian form Velisse's blade, imbued with dark lifeforce, cuts a deep gouge through the head and chest of the guardian like cutting through butter. The reaction causes a spark of pulsing purple light to crackle through the room, and for a moment the guardian's eyes pulse with a red hue.

Strong Ail moves from the spider, to guard Velisse. He keeps his hammer up, blocking any attack against the two of them.
OOC:
Will Guard and give Velisse resistance to all damage until the start of my next turn.

Oblivious to Ail saving him from the spider behind him, Pinion takes a closer look at his Magicannon as if something is wrong with it. He turns to find the second spider and attack it with a fiery blast.

"It's vulnerable to dark magic!" Velisse exclaimed! Using her shadow power always came at a cost, but in this case it was so efficacious against the guardians that she tapped into her own lifeforce again to strike!

OOC:
Using Shadowstrike for a free attack. Also spending 10 MP to make the attack Multi 2, targeting both guardians. I never got to ask, do I get to decide which attack the Multi applies to? Or can I pay twice to apply it to both?

OOC:
Hmm, I'm not sure. I'd say it'd have to be the first attack since the second one is a "free" attack. It does say in the bladestorm skill that you can spend on multiple attacks but it makes specific reference to multiple weapons (or that might be under ambidextrous rather than bladestorm, but still)
Apr 19, 2024 9:41 am
OOC:
That makes sense, first attack it is!
Apr 23, 2024 11:10 am
"Now that's useful information!" Jezlyn shouts with a grin. She prepares a shadow infusion and then shoots the guardian.
OOC:
If the attack is successful it deals HR + 8 + 5 dark damage.

Unable to decide on a target, the remaining spider is soon snuffed out by another gout of flame from Pinion's magitech cannon. Clearly it wasn't a malfunction that stopped it hurting the guardian. Unfortunately, when he turned to try his cannon on the guardian again he received a stone shield to the face not out of intent to harm but intent to move him aside.

The guardian closes the gap between it and Velisse, and draws up against Ail as he steps in the way. It's blows land ineffectually against his guard, but Velisse's counter attacks prove as ineffectual against it's shield. The sounds of the exchanged blows echo in the stone chamber, and possibly further beyond. The guardian doesn't seem to care as it readies itself for another attack, ignoring the shot from Jezlyn that plinks off it's helmet.

OOC:
If he’s already dazed it has no further effect as far as I’m aware.
