It worked! Velisse perked up when she saw Desdemona turn tail to retreat. The woman was too quick for them to pursue though, and now they were left the being inside the suit of armour.

"She's no longer here, you don't have to do this." Velisse wondered if she could talk them out of their course of action.
OOC:
Would the use of a Fabula Point here be relevant to see if they could affect Tristan's morale or intention in some way, especially because Desdemona is gone?

OOC:
I think you could try and convince him without the need of a fabula point, which would be a six section clock and a [Wlp + Wlp] roll. Spending a fabula point after would allow you to double the amount of the clock you fill.

"Whatever it is you have been commanded to do, there can be no good outcome from it," spoke one heavily armoured individual to the other.
OOC:
This seems critical enough to spend that fabula point!

There's a delay, the armour's next attack stalls. It doesn't respond vocally, but you all get the sense that it's considering Velisse's words. While it does Pinion has the chance to investigate the magic pillar. Unfortunately for him, it's looking like it'll be a complex process to disrupt it in the way he wants to, and with all the various arcane machines attached to it there's enough of a question where to start. Even still, he feels comfortable that he can start.

"After all, you are outnumbered, and we don't want to cause you any harm. Surrender and we can find another solution together." Jez tries to reassure Tristan that violence is not the answer this time.

With a scrape, Tristan's arms fall to his sides. Still without any kind of words, he looks to the group. His bulk is still firmly planted between them and where Desdemona backed away. He shows no sign of moving, but it looks like he's not interested in attacking any longer.

Pinion know Jezlyn is busy negotiating a surrender or something, but doesn't think he can stop this magic contraption alone. He reluctantly calls out to her, "Uh Jezlyn, I could use your expertise here, since I can't figure out how to stop this device. which is terribly frustrating, I usually have some idea of ho tech works. I suppose I could just start smashing things . . "

"Looking, I'm sheathing my sword." Velisse lowered her guard to mirror Tristan's actions. "My friends will be trying to disconnect you from the magic that is controlling you, understood? It'll be good to have your own free will back." She nodded to the others to get on with it, checking to see if they needed a hand, even though the arcane was something she was unfamiliar with.
OOC:
Hope to complete the Tristan clock.

Tristan's helmet shifts to watch the others, and then back to Velisse. He gives a long look, but he definitely seems content to let you go about your business without interfering.

Jezlyn nods at the apparent success. "I knew you would see reason." She turns to the others. "Now then, what's next?"
Jun 17, 2024 10:10 am
OOC:
By the way, I can bring us to a close now that the villain of the adventure has been "defeated" or we can address the issue of the magitech pillar. Up to you?
Jun 18, 2024 1:39 pm
"Have you figured out how this works yet?" Leaving Tristan for a moment, Velisse crossed over to the pillar. "I don't know much about magic, but I do know a little about entropy." Velisse could draw dark energy from other living beings, but this pillar was something else.
OOC:
I'm posting just to finish up this last bit :)

Velisse can sense energy from the tower, not dark energy but something close. With some patience she could potentially absorb the energy but there'd be no way of telling the kind of affect it would have on her, let alone if she'd be able to absorb the sheer amount the tower put out. Even still, it was a start, an option.

Curious, Jez approaches and inspects the pillar, hoping she has read or studied something similar in her long years.

INSIGHT x2 - (2d10)

While she might not have studied the pillar itself in her long years, Jez has seen a lot of the systems attached to it to bend the energy to the will of Elonia. The theories, while more advanced, are similar to those used in harnessing the elemental stones such as the air stones used for flight stones in an airship. While it might not knock out the pillar altogether, tampering with it might stop its connection to the physical world.

"Transfer excess energy over to me," Ail says, putting a hand on Velisse's shoulder. She shouldn't have to absorb it all alone.
OOC:
Ail don't know how to absorb the energy himself, but figures he could help out resisting its effect. Don't know what to roll, but guessing Might + Willpower and if I need to roll something else let me know.

"I'm not sure I know how, but I'll try." Her vigor drain ability was normally used on enemies, to weaken them as she cleaved at them. With an inanimate pillar she did not attempt to chop it down, but struck at it withe the point, to use it as a conduit. "See what you can do to shunt the excess from behind me," she instructed Ail.
OOC:
I rolled Ins + Wlp, but if a case could be made for using Mig, I added a roll for that as well.

Ins+Wlp - (1d8+1d6)

Does the energy have to go into a person? Can we slowly dissipate it into the ground? Or blast it into the sky, just not at an airship?
Jun 27, 2024 1:54 pm
"It's the only kind of magic transference I know. Still am not sure whether it'll kill me," Velisse mused with a lopsided grimace.
Jun 27, 2024 2:18 pm
"All the more reason to find an alternate option." Pinion says, frantically looking around
