Ylliane hangs back toward the rear of the group, keeping an ear out for any movement behind them. "If we're going to go in, we might as well do it now."

Hrafe takes a deep breath and opens the door.

You find yourself in a fairly large room. the only real feature in the room is a large, elaborate tapestry on the south wall depicting the Lich King raising an army of undead as if he had accomplished his goals of taking over the dragon empire. It wouldn't be surprising if it sent chills down anyone spine. There is something odd about it, though. Some of the undead are depicted strangely. Perhaps there is something to learn by investigating it further?
OOC:
If you want, you can elect 1 person to make an intelligence check. They can apply a background if the background would make them good at deciphering codes or similar things

"I'd wouldn't mind cutting that tapestry into little pieces and setting them on fire," Edgar comments seeing the room.
OOC:
Edgar don't have a fitting background or particularly good int.

Hrafe is a temple acolyte, but only has a +1 Int

It may be that someone will end up rolling a straight intelligence check then
Jun 19, 2024 2:14 pm
OOC:
I'll just roll with a +3 and it won't really matter who rolled it. If Ylliane or Makasi really think they can apply a background and convine me, i may retroactively change the results if it would have made a difference.

Well, even if someone's +5 background came into play, I don't think it would have made a difference, and I know no one has 18 or higher intelligence, so i'll assume the obscure elements go over everyone's head.

You spend a few minutes and ultimately all agree that there is little to gain from this room. There appear to be no secrets, and the tapestry is starting to make some or all of you feel sick just looking at the lich king revel in such victory.

From here, you can go to the other doorway nearby, or go back to the intersection and take R1, L2, R2, or the original straight path.
Jun 20, 2024 1:18 pm
OOC:
Looking at the map gain, L2 and R2 just lead to statues, so It's really do you want to go to the other door or do you want to go back to the intersection earlier and go straight or right instead of left like you did?
Jun 20, 2024 5:39 pm
OOC:
I vote go back and then straight ahead

OOC:
As exploration is slow and this isn't a major decision, I'll go with what I hear first. If it was very consequential, I would wait for a vote
You return to the intersection from before and then go forward from the perspective you had earlier (north). After a few feet, the torch illuminates what looks to be a portcullis with bars that are very narrow, too narrow for anyone to fit through. On your left and right are statues of undead wizards. They are not the lich king himself, but likely necromancers none-the-less.

Gnome
As you get closer to the portcullis, you notice someone approach from the other side. The figure seems on the shorter side. "Come to sacrifice me now, have you?" you then hear a sound as if the figure spit on the ground.

"Wouldn't be my first choice," Edgar says. "But if you keep sassing off your rescuers I might just reconsider."

"Rescuers?" the gnome does his best to get a look at you all. "I didn't know if the wight was using living minions in addition to the undead ones. For all I knew you were here to take me to him to become an undead. This is where the captives are taken, after all. It's me and miss goody-goody in back. Have you guys taken out the wight yet? Pretty sure it had the key to unlock this gate, and it is too heavy to lift and too narrow to slide through."

"Tell us what you know and we will try to put it to use." She is always of very few words, and that doesn't change now. Besides, too many words and someone - or more likely something - will undoubtedly hear.

"I haven't been any deeper than this. I just know that some Wight runs the place. It's made plenty of zombies and skeletons so far. Might be making an army. I presume it has the key, as the wight personally locked the gate here and had the key when they left. When I was captured, I was mostly unconscious until I was thrown in here, so not much more I can give you."
Jun 24, 2024 8:37 pm
"Then we should get on to destroying that Wight. No sense delaying."
Jun 24, 2024 10:07 pm
As you leave, you notice that the 2 statues flanking you might be able to be moved just enough to let you all squeeze past them to a hallways that appears to be behind each one. the statues are extremely heavy, however. You also remember there is one other hallway you have not explored. You can also return to the main room and go the other way.

What next? Public

Attempt to move a statue
Go down other hallway
Go back to main area and proceed through dungeon
Jun 25, 2024 1:23 pm
Ok, I see 2 votes for attempting to move a statue. The DC is 25, and obviously it will involve Strength and a background where heavy lifting or pushing/dragging was common. If someone can succeed on a DC 15 Strength check that doesn't think they can make the DC 25, I'll say they "help" and reduce the main DC from 25 to 20.

Who will be doing the main check? Is anyone going to attempt to "help"?
Jun 25, 2024 5:34 pm
As a warrior poet Hrafe was inclined to lifting and moving heavy objects. A statue was no exception. "Someone give me a hand? This looks heavy." As soon as help was offered he seized the base and began to haul away with his might.
